Casting Switcheroo

[Blind Gossip] There was a movie several years ago that did not create a great deal of interest at the box office… but it did provide some interesting blind item material!

The female lead was the first part cast.

While she has literally hundreds of film credits, the vast majority of them are for her music. She only has a handful of acting credits. This is one of them.

Our Singer was cast because the producers were sure that her mere superstar presence would be very buzzy.

Choosing the male lead to play opposite her was challenging.

Our singer has such a big presence that it had to be someone who could hold their own against her.

The male lead eventually went to an esteemed actor who is currently one of the top 20 highest-grossing actors in North America.

The story here though, it about the man who was originally supposed to play the male lead.

He is an American rapper with a lot of acting experience. He is best known for his starring role on a long-running procedural on a major network.

Rapper was basically offered the job and had the contract in front of him. However, he decided that he wanted to renegotiate the terms of the contract.

No, he didn’t demand more money.

He wanted something else.

There was a husband/wife bedroom scene in the movie, but it was rather mild. Rapper wanted his scene with Singer to be much more explicit.

He was so obsessed with her that he wanted to have the distinction of being the first man to have an explicit s*x scene with her on screen.

Singer said, “Hell, no!”

Negotiations fell apart… producers pulled a little casting switcheroo… and the role was given to Esteemed Actor.

Years later, Rapper is still sucking up to Singer on a regular basis, still hoping to do a project with her. She is cool towards him and has made sure that he has never managed to score anything more than a friendly photo with her!

    I can’t believe the people are guessing A Star Is Born when the blind says the movie didn’t generate interest at the box office. SMH. A Star is Born was one of the top films the year it came out in addition to being a multi Oscar nominee plus the smash soundtrack and featured hit song Shallow.

    Rapper not casted: LL Cool J (long running procedural: NCIS Los Angeles) I recall his possible casting being reported at some point. Didn’t know the tea about the sex scene though.. . .

    Beyonce’s acting: honestly, I think she could be very good with a little bit of training. In this particular movie, she was unfortunately cast with an amazing actor (Idris) and Ali Lartner, who I thought was very good too.

    If not for “…did not create a great deal of interest at the box office.”, I would say A Star Is Born with Gaga and LL Cool J for the Bradley Cooper part. But that surpassed everyone’s box office expectations.

    I don’t think she has had hundreds of acting credits but this made me think of the film Obsessed with Beyonce as the lead female. Idris Elba would be the esteemed actor, don’t know the rapper would be.
