A Wonderful Evening

[Blind Gossip] This classic, older TV and movie actor was at the Golden Globe Awards last night. While he was lucid and in good spirits at the ceremony, all may not be well.

I was with a few people who were chatting with him after the show. He seemed really out of it. Not drugged, but like he didn’t really understand what was happening around him. He was asked where he was going after (there were a few parties) and he nodded and smiled and said, “Yes, it’s a wonderful evening, isn’t it?”

Although it was not particularly noisy, they thought he might not have heard the question, and asked again. He repeated his answer. Then the person he was with pulled him away.

    Dick Van Dyke.

    Getting old is bad enough, add dementia to it and it’s a total nightmare. I watched a tv movie called “Exile”, that deals with the subject and it was absolutely depressing and horrifying. But the movie was good though.

    I’m going with Jeff Bridges based on what I heard but I didn’t watch the broadcast so I can’t really say. I certainly hope he’s well.

    He didn’t look like he was doing too well.
    He’s 92. It’s just old age.

      Definitely him. I saw his interview by Giuliana Rankic in the red carpet and that’s exactly what I thought.
      It’s sad because I love him but he is really old. It seems like he has just started aging in the past few years – and old age has hit him hard.

    I would say Dick Van Dyke. He still looks good but he’s in his 90’s. The crowds might have been a bit overwhelming for him.

    Jeff Bridges? Sea Hunt as a kid and many movies. So sad if it’s him. He will always be Terry from Against All Odds to me (yum). <3

    Hard of hearing/dementia maybe (but probably the first one)

    I noticed when they showed the table when they read the list of nominees for best TV series (The Kominskys) he just sat there with this blind stare, not moving, not smiling. Then when they all got up to go on stage, he stood up and appeared to be asking everyone around him what he should do.- like he was lost. My first thought was that he was a) was he drunk? or b) was on some kind of medication that put him in la-la-land.

    Dick van Dyke, the poor soul. He looked dazed when the camera panned to him sitting at his table. But he turned it on quite nicely while presenting!

    Michael Douglas did not look well to me.
    Maybe he has sundown syndrome due to onset of dementia?

    BTW* Bill Murray was a bit.. off, as well. Maybe too many booze and fueled parties back in the day is finally catching up and dementia is setting in more and more. Could also be the plane crashes he suffered knocked some marbles loose 🙄

    This is the same conversation I would have with my Dad in a loud crowded room.
    Throw in the excitement of being an honoree of the night and a few red wines and doobies, and this is what you get.

    His speech was awesome.

    The pictures of him and CZJD make him look as though he’s senile.

    He’s had cancer treatment and Catherine is reputedly off her meds again. He’s not aged as well as Kirk, that’s for sure.

      I don’t think it can be him. He had to go on stage and give a speech and was totally coherent etc. If he were randomly not getting what was going on talking to people would he have pulled off that speech?
