The Female Version Of Egoist

[Blind Gossip] Remember when we told you about the male host whose ego got in the way of his newsy TV show?

That was Alec Baldwin, whose Alec Baldwin Show was canceled after just a few episodes. Alec is a smart and funny guy, but he had a little trouble getting his ego out of the way when interviewing other people.

We have a similar situation to tell you about, except this one involves a famous female TV personality.

She has been very successful in other endeavors, but when it came to a recent gig, she just couldn’t seem to get her own ego out of the way.

The public may love her, but the crew certainly didn’t. She thinks she is more important and smarter than everyone. She knows more than the gaffer, she knows more than the guests, she knows more than everybody. Every minute of production was about her and her insufferable ego. The woman would not shut up and just do her job!

The gaffer is the chief lighting technician. It’s generally not a good idea to tell the gaffer (or the key grip) how to do their jobs. Especially if you are not their boss!

Thankfully, they won’t have to deal with her any more.

She says she quit. She actually got fired.

We’re sure our egoist will spin it as the former.

    Oprah. Supposedly left 60 minutes.

    I was never really a fan and never a regular viewer of her show either, but some of my friends loved her. To me, she always came off as too preachy. These days, I honestly think she believes her own hype.

    The insidious nature of the entertainment industry is that the more successful you become – whether by hard work or luck – the fewer people around you will say “no”, or tell you something isn’t a good idea. To the contrary, you’ll be told constantly how brilliant you are. After 30 years, I don’t know how someone is normal anymore. I’m from Baltimore, and am amazed at Oprah’s rise – but she is too cloistered now, and it shows.

    Oprah Winfrey. I like her less and I am guessing Weight Watchers rues the day it took her on as a spokesperson. She seems to have gained weight and unfortunately has a financial stake in the company. I stopped buying WW products because of her involvement with them.

    Oprah had the Best lighting on TV. It’s not easy to light multiple ethnicity’s and do it very well. She likely learned a lot on what makes her look her best. A lot of other celebrities know what makes them look their best too Jamie Lee Curtis, Barbra Streisand, etc. I’m not saying she’s not a pain. She went from her own show with a big budget to an occasional segment on a show with many reporters. In her mind she’s still the boss. Hollywood breeds egos…Male and Female.

    This is totally Oprah, and I can no longer stand her. Her comments on “separating” herself from the show were so obnoxious. Now she tries to insinuate herself on Gayle’s success, implying she is helping negotiate her contract, making statements that “even I couldn’t do it better” referring to the R. Kelly interview. She is too full of herself, and really just irrelevant now.

    Oprah getting fired off 60 Minutes. Made me long for Ed Bradley. Oprah never has and never will be a collaborator – remember her with Eckhart Tolle??? Ugh!

    Oprah leaving 60 Minutes. How does she keep that Weight Watchers spokesperson job when she’s overweight? That’s a mystery.

    I thought it was stupid of 60 Minutes to hire Oprah in the first place. I would have thought that Gayle would have explained that broadcasting journalism is a very different ballgame. She just seems like she has to be in charge. The poor dear had to actually work to someone else’s standards.

    The general public may love her but I can’t stand her phoniness. She got to eat a big slice of humble pie this time.

    Liking her the same. I think she’s just getting older and set in her ways and doesn’t mind expressing it. She needs to keep doing her OWN thing (pun intended).

    Is this Kathie Lee Gifford??

    I’ve always liked Kathie Lee ever since the ‘Live with Regis and Kathie Lee’ days. I never watched the show after she left. I was never a Kelly fan.
    Kathie Lee can be obnoxious at times, but I still like her and hope she enjoys her new life in Nashville, TN.

    Ellen DeGeneres? The rainbow colors makes me think it’s her, but I can’t see her being cancelled. Her show is still very popular. Or so I thought.

    Oprah of course. Heck, I didn’t know she was even on 60 Minutes. I like her and loved her show that ended years ago, but you can tell she has a HUGE ego. There’s a lot to admire about her, but I know I wouldn’t want to work with or for her.

    Guessing this is Oprah as she says she has left the 60 minutes show.

    Personally i think about her less than she had her show. She has tried to throw her weight around more and i think that is showing her ego. She is a leader but not the bees knees.

    This is Oprah Winfrey. Just announced she’s leaving 60 minutes.

    I was never on the Oprah bandwagon. She was a little too preachy in my opinion. Lots of respect for how she changed TV and it’s view towards black women.

    In fairness, lighting Black skin is different than lighting other skin tones. Her lighting was impeccable on her show. That aside, I like her less because of how she went after Michael Jackson with shaky evidence. It felt like a coordinated agenda. And to force her social media staff to turn on MJ too. After he gave her a huge scoop in the 90’s, and his family welcomed her. Plus Monique, and there’s more. It’s hard to be a fan of Oprah now.

    I never really liked her. I always thought she talked too much with her guests and I thought she was too materialistic to be as spiritual as she pretends.

      I liked her originally…..but she became sort of maniacally egotistical. There’s something insufferable about a person who needs to name everything after her first name or initial….and who has only her own (heavily Photoshopped) image on the cover, month after month. Lady, you’re just not that interesting. Why are your “favorite things” more relevant than other people’s? Tone deaf.

    I figured that she was fired when I read that she had left 60 minutes. (Who on earth ever thought it was a good idea to hire her for 60 Minutes in the first place?)

    I like her far less than I did before she started meddling in politics. And even less now than I did before I read this blind.

    This would be Oprah, the big O, who ‘removed’ herself from 60 Minutes.

    I never cared for Oprah, except for maybe a few minutes many years ago. Never really
    thought why I didn’t like her, except she has always seemed to stroke her own ego and
    that’s not a trait I admire.

    This is Oprah. I used to like her, but she just became so impressed with herself. I was a long-term weight watcher member, but as soon as she came on board telling all us commoners how to lose weight, I turned it off. A woman who has been multiple sizes who thinks she can tell others how to be successful was just just such a turn off.

      Yes! Both Oprah and Ellen ARE insufferable! I think they both truly believe they are more enlightened than everyone else. And that when they speak, they’re gracing us with total wisdom, LOL!

    I think she believes her own press.

    I haven’t liked her since she went new age (it’s been a while) and the show that did it for me, that showed how out of touch she was with the average woman, was one which focused on putting yourself first. At the time I had three small children, worked full time, and thought she was spouting rubbish.

    Fill the tub with scented water and place candles around and start the day focused on YOU. Silly Oprah.

      I used to be a huge fan and I still respect what she has made of her life and how many people she has helped. But I’m not a fan any more because her ego is just too much. Like Beyonce.

      So true- you don’t typically relapse over and over and over as an addict (her drug being food… bc fyi, if food is actually jeopardizing your heath by making you seriously overweight, & you want to stop, & you still can’t stop… & change your whole life & get healthy, only to relapse & go right back to square one, as unhealthy as ever… How’s that different from a heroin addict or alcoholic?) if you’re super evolved and “zen”. I know because I am one, lol, of the drug variety. (Sober)

I know she doesn’t claim to be a totally healed person, but, idk, there’s still that whole perfection schtick. Girl, we know you aren’t eating those vegetables in your garden unless they’re battered and deep fried, just like the rest of us slobs.)
