Until now.

We’re not going to debate whether his comments are right or wrong. We’ll let you do that.

What we are going to say is that he has found himself in some awkward waters after making them.

He’s got a lot of nerve, especially since he is so fluid with his own sexuality. Everyone in Hollywood knows he’s been with half the men in the industry. Nobody judges him for being closeted. He needs to keep his judgemental mouth shut when it comes to other people and how they identify.

The lesson here is: Don’t mess with the LGBTQ community!

Especially if you are a secret member.

    And I disagree with his comments – it’s not “dangerous” to let a child be whom they want to be. As others have pointed out, it may be a “phase” or it may not – in either case, the parent can be supportive, non-judgmental, and let the kid be.

    Dear Mario Lopez. Oh my goodness. Unless you are yourself transgendered you have no idea what it feels like or how early you know. So do not comment. It is not a whim. Or a fad. It is not like a boy who wants to play with Barbie dolls, or a girl hating dresses. It is fundamental to who they are. Gender. Not sexuality. Your identity. Fire your publicist. Take up any offers to re-educate yourself. And apologise publicly as many times as needed.

      Exactly.

      I’m gay, and I KNEW I was gay by the time I was 5 / 6 years old – you don’t have to be sexually aware to know you’re attracted to boys, not girls.

      Similarly, gender is such a core part of your “self”, perhaps MORE so than sexuality. It’s not surprising to me that boys KNOW they’re boys (or girls know they’re girls) quite early, despite any outward signs to the contrary.

    The truly scary thing, that no one is talking about, is that he almost lost his job and was made to publicly shame himself. All because of his opinion. That is not right and not the way America needs to proceed b/c it leads to totalitarianism.

    If this is Mario – the part about not sexualizing children is 100% on point – 3 year old children have NO idea about anything and should NEVER be allowed to make any decision that is a lifelong commitment – this is something that should not have to bear a discussion about
    THIS is what the issue backlash is regarding – not about the adults and their life decisions –

    Agree with his initial opinion. Don’t think it’s healthy to pump hormones from the opposite s*x into a child’s body. And don’t agree with bringing kids up as gender neutral. Shiloh Pitt is an exception, as she seems very happy as a boy.

    Guessing this is Mario Lopez who was slapped down for saying “If you’re three years old and … think you are a boy or a girl, it’s dangerous for a parent to say that’s what you’re going to be… Think about the repercussions later on.”
    To me, this is a compassionate and wise statement from a sexually fluid adult person. When parents over-react and start drugging and offering surgery to children , they are harming them. Let kids be fluid when young and support them emotionally.

Let them make that decision when they are older not the adult making that decision while they are still so young.

    This is Mario Lopez and his comments about transgender children. I agree with the core of what he was saying in that I don’t think it’s right to let a young child make a permanent decision about their life/body to the point is is irreversible/ causes damage until they are old enough to understand the consequences.
    However, him being fluid with his sexuality is irrelevant. Sexuality is NOT the same as gender identity.

    I agree that parents shouldn’t give in to children’s whims. Wait at least until puberty to see if the gender dysphoria resolves, only use puberty blockers and wait to make any irreversible changes until they’re grown. I don’t understand how an elementary school kid can “transition” so easily; are they ready to make such an important decision? Sure, use a different name and wear different clothes, but permanent bodily changes should wait.

    Mario Lopez. There are some studies out of Sweden that say that children can be confused by adults exposing them to trans behavior. Anorexia (also a body dysmorphic disorders) has a similar peer pressure element. Probably best to let kids be kids.

    Must be Mario Lopez commenting on children picking their own gender. And that maybe, possibly, at 3 years old, they might not know best.

    My son wanted to cut his penis off at 3 because it “bothered” him when it “stood up.” I told him no, he would want that later. Well, at 11, he is really happy I didn’t take him to a doctor to get his “problem” “fixed.”

      Even if you had, no surgeon would have removed your son’s penis. That simply doesn’t happen. The hysteria due to misinformation about this topic has become insane.

      Most people commenting have no clue how difficult it is to initiate hormone therapy or any kind of “sex reassignment” surgery. A person doesn’t simply request it and it happens. There are several psychological assessments, and that is simply to begin with.

    Wow I had no idea Mario Lopez was secretly bisexual!

    Optional: I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however when you have the privilege of speaking on such a public platform you really need to stop and think about what you are saying. Is your opinion going to add any value to the conversation? If the answer is no then maybe keep your trap shut as to avoid public upset.

    I’m surprised it took this long for the ridiculous media drag as I listened to that podcat episode at least 2 weeks ago! Mario is absolutely right that no 3 year old should be able to make huge life decisions like gender transition. He should not apologize for his sound logic! Giving children sex changing hormones is not equivalent to him being closeted bisexual. Who tf cares, he’s an adult and not hurting anyone. LOVE YOU MARIO STAY STRONG

    Optional: I agree with the part that talked about parenting from a place of love. I think that kids change who they are constantly, and to accept who they are at that point in time is a good place to start.

      Oh and I completely agree with Mario. No one (parent or otherwise) needs to decide a 3 year old is transgender. I was a tomboy. I grew up with ALL boys around. If asked at a young age if I wanted to be a boy, I probably would have said yes! What a mistake that would have been!!! The folks that hate labels demand on labels!!

    I don’t actually disagree with him. While certainly a child *could* know that they’re not what gender their body suggests, he wasn’t wrong about taking a few years to see how that plays out. Sometimes kids are in fact just trying things on for size.

    I’m old enough to remember a time when the LGBTQ had to hide in the closet. I witnessed the 1980’s to 2000’s and saw all the wonderful changes. In my opinion, the SJW and their mob mentality of going after people viciously who they disagree with them will backfire. They are hurting the LGBTQ community instead of helping them.

    100% agreed with Mario Lopez. I was a tomboy until I was in high school. Now I am as feminine as can be. A 3 year old has ZERO idea about sexuality and gender. UGH.

    Also, if the industry is so LGBT “friendly” why are there so many “closeted” actors and actresses according to blinds. There should be none. Oh, wait. The so called gay mafia/ other leaders in the industry are ok with lying and being in the closet as long as they profit from it. So hypocritical all around. Blegh.
