[Blind Gossip] This classic movie actor pretends not to care about awards.

He actually does… but in a twisted way.

It’s not like he has never received a big award. He has. More than once. The last time he won was several decades ago.

He works continuously, so why hasn’t he won any awards since then?

Money!

He doesn’t actually seem to care what the project is. He always asks first about the money. How much will they pay? That’s why so many of his projects are crappy. The role comes second. He winds up playing the same character over and over. Then he complains when he doesn’t get nominated.

What does it take to hire him?

His base rate is one million dollars. If you want him on screen for even one minute, that will be a million dollars. Of course, it goes up from there.

Isn’t he already rich?

Yes, but wives and mistresses and a whole mess of kids take up a lot of it. He’s always sinking money into projects and businesses. Not that he’s broke or even close. He is rich. It’s just that he could’ve had twice as much in the bank as he does now if he had been smarter about it.

So how does this emphasis on money impact his thinking about awards?

He pretends he doesn’t care, but he knows that if he was to get another Oscar, he could ask for a bigger salary. That’s why he’s a little pissed that he didn’t get a Golden Globes nomination. The Golden Globes diss mean that it’ll be harder for him to get an Oscar nom.

What is he like in real life?

He is not a nice person. Let’s just leave it there.

    Clearly DeNiro whom I’ve loved for YEARS.
    I never want to meet him for the fact that he’s apparently a jerk. But I still love him.

    Everybody is saying DeNiro but I thought it was Al Pacino, too. He gave an interview recently about how he is willing to take on any movie. He said he would accept a role in terrible movie and make it a mediocre movie. Which is kind of arrogant and funny at the same time.

    Robert DENIRO – he has done a lot that he can be proud of. However too often you see him in a movie that is just trash and it is just for the money.

    I can understand whey he is upset. He is extremely talented but he is is the one selling himself short.

    He has six kids (that we know of) and two ex-wives. He also has a bad reputation for anger issues and more.

    Robert De Niro…last academy award won was for Raging Bull in 1981…he takes a lot of crappy low budget roles where he generally always plays some sort of gangster…used to really like him as an actor but I can’t stand him anymore…

    My favorite role of his will always be as Jimmy Conway in Goodfellas — he and everyone else were so great in that movie…

    I want this to be de Niro.

    I used to really like him but he’s gone crazy.

    My favorite film of his is probably “The Deer Hunter”

      I like The Assistant. I thought it was a nice change for him.
