Her Philosophy On Getting Fired

[Blind Gossip] It is interesting to see how differently two celebrities handled the same negative event.

Both of these entertainers recently found out that their contracts were not renewed for a network TV show.

Not being renewed is not the same as being fired… but it’s close!

It’s just a nicer and cleaner way to make personnel changes. Basically, they don’t want you around anymore, but rather than embarrass you by firing you, they just wait until your contract is up. Then they write your character out… or replace you with someone else.

The first cast member did not think it was so nice.

She went ballistic, bringing up every multiple examples of how she had tried to illuminate serious problems in the workplace and was treated unfairly in return.

Since her examples all centered around topics that have become lightening rods for political/social/racial/gender/age/whatever debate, drama followed.

Whether you are cheering her on or deem her overly sensitive, what happened next was crazy Controversy! Social media blasts! Interviews! Meetings! Lawyers! Settlements!

Drama, drama, drama!

While we don’t know how that will all turn out, it is very interesting to us how the other person handled her own departure.

She went away very, very quietly.

Why the dramatic difference in departures?

It may have to do with a difference in how they were treated. It may have to do with their personal sensitivity about the issues involved. Or it may have to do with how the second person views her job.

It is important to her that she consistently works. She sees each job as a temporary gig. She knows it won’t last forever. If one job doesn’t pan out, it’s on to the next. No crying, no whining, no matter what.

What if she was treated badly?

No matter how bad things are, she is going to keep her cool. Even if she is angry or thinks it is unfair, she will thank you for the opportunity and smile on her way out the door. She knows that everybody in the industry talks and she will not give anyone an excuse not to hire her.

How is it that she is so calm and focused when other people are so angry?

Her philosophy is: No burned bridges, ever. She needs that next job. She says that she wants to work forever.

With a calm attitude like that, she just might!

    I don’t know all the details. But from what was reported thus far, I feel like JH handled it correctly.

    The Jay Leno joke is a little weak. He was a guest judge and they didn’t air the joke. So what did GU expect AGT to do beyond that? As far as her styling being called “too black” I don’t think that is right to say, but a show has a right to style talent as they see fit. I need more details to make a hard decision.

    Gabrielle is whiny and spoiled. She was a terrible judge and we didn’t even watch the show while she was on it because she had absolutely no business being there in the first place. Her insights were boring and off the mark, her commentary was inane, and she clearly didn’t belong with the other judges. She just didnt fit. It had nothing to do with her race or Jay Leno.

    If producers were giving Gabrielle s* about her ethnic hairstyles among other crap, then good for her for speaking up, but speaking out.. might damage her future job prospects. Juliana seems to embody her “girl next door” brand IRL.
    PS: Howard Stern put Simon Cowell and the good ole boy situation on blast.

    Union is acting like a juvenile, opportunistic ass. I didn’t dislike her before, but I can’t stand her now. She sounds stupid and temperamental. Hough is acting wisely, like a mature professional.

    Too much to type but the approaches are basically based on personality and race. I think Gabrielle Union took the route that she did because of racism in general and the name that she’s made for herself and her husband’s money.

    Julianne on the other hand prefers to not rock the boat and understand the big picture and that being black listed is real. So…..

    I doubt if Gabrielle Union will ever be hired again. Higher ups will not forget this.

    Their contracts ended and that’s it. No one can expect an automatic renewal. If the atmosphere is so bad then leave, why not speak out until the end? I assume it’s
    because she wanted a renewal and doubt we would have heard anything about it. This seems like sour grapes converted to a #metoo moment to gather backing by Gabrielle. It’s very short sighted.

Most of America is SO TIRED now about race/woman/metoo/etc etc…..Give it a rest and go get another job! Most of us don’t have the luxury of having the media to use as a mouthpiece. Show some class like Julianne and STFU!

    Optional: I think Gabrielle Union handled it as poorly as possible, probably ensuring that she will have a difficult time getting another job. Making it racial as it appears from today’s news, is the worst.
    Juliette Hough understands that you always leave a door cracked as you exit a job. She will be able to return should the opportunity arise, simply because she handled it so professionally.

    On those shows they always change judges frequently. Idk one of them is throwing a fit about it.

    I knew that was why Julianne was being quiet about, because she has other things lined up….she is smart and a class act. Good for her

    Considering that one is an industry veteran with her own production company and the other is new to the industry by comparison and seemingly works at the whim of others, I would say they handled it appropriately. GU knows she has financial stability through her own work but also through her husband. JH does not have that much pull and also, what complaints could she have beyond gender and sexual? No one would ever tell her that her hair was too ethnic.

    Gabrielle Union will become the Kaepernick of entertainment, it will be hard for her to find another gig cause people will avoid her drama. Julianne Hough Actually left with grace and that’s the way it should be, don’t bring your over sensitivity and drama to workplace, no one wants to deal with that

    1st Woman: Gabrielle Union Wade.. I like her… I really do. If there was something wrong with the workplace, I think it is important that people speak up. I hope it wasn’t done as retaliation of being fired.

    2nd Woman: Julianne Hough. Also really like her. Gorgeous and love watching her dance!!!!

    I was not at all impressed with the way Union behaved and handled her contract not being renewed. Hough is much wiser.

    It seems pretty clear cut: there was a contract for a limited time and time was up. To not renew the contract is the producer’s prerogative and unless there really were serious problems on set or it was clearly retaliation, it’s just best to accept it. Ms. Hough’s attitude was healthier for her own self and for for her career.

    I don’t watch it so Im not sure if they were good or not at their jobs as judges, but it did surprise me to see the vast difference in their reactions.

    Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union. Julianne is originally a dancer, Dancers always need the next gig since normally the jobs they get our time limited, so she is used to it and you can’t burn bridges in a profession like that. Now Gabrielle. Who knows if what she is saying is true, or it might be a case of bruised ego-huge reaction/temper tantrum using the race card. It isn’t a good look and others might be less keen to hire her in the future.

    I wasn’t a huge fan of Juliann as a judge on DWTS, but she was a dancer herself (and I found it odd that they let her critique her brother). I wasn’t sad to see her go, mostly because they don’t need a fourth judge. On AGT, I thought she and Union were ok, but i did miss Mel B. Heidi, not so much. Hough did seem to fade out of the media glare but the other one kept it going. What went on behind the scenes is anybody’s guess but has any past female judge commented on the toxic AGT environment?
