[Blind Gossip] Here is an interesting story about a famous performer who screwed over a whole bunch of people in the music industry!

She was the female star of a TV show that had a musical component. Because The Star and the show were so popular, songwriters, music producers, music publishers, managers, etc. were always clamoring to get their songs featured.

The last season of the show did not go well.

You see, there were almost a dozen songs that were supposed to be recorded for the final season of the show… but The Star refused to record them.

This should not have been an option. The contracts were already signed. For many of the songwriters, this was going to be their big break.

On the days she was scheduled to show up at the studio to record them, though, The Star simply stayed home.

Why?

It wasn’t because she was ill or because the songs were bad.

It was because she was bored with the show and her character. She was “over it.”

Well, dozens of different people started panicking! They called her management and the show runner and the studio that made the show and remind them that they had a contract and that the star was legally obligated to record their songs for the show.

We literally got into screaming matches with them over the songs.

Everyone was pleading and arguing and threatening each other with lawsuits.

The Star still refused to record the songs.

We tried to explain to her that this decision was going to hurt dozens of songwriters, managers, agents, and music publishers associated with the songs. She said she didn’t care.

Her management didn’t care either. Furthermore, they cited her popularity as the reason that she would never have to do anything she didn’t want to do!

Her management said, “She’s not doing it so get over it. She’s one of the biggest stars on the planet. Do you really want to be known as the [songwriter/music producer/whatever] who sued [The Star]?”

The TV show writers, producers, and directors had to go in and rewrite, re-shoot, and re-cut the final shows to exclude all of those songs that had been cut and fill the air time with dialogue instead.

The songwriters and music producers and managers who had contracts walked away without their songs ever making it to air.

Nobody sued the Star. But they will never forget that time that The Star weaseled out of her contractual obligations and how unprofessionally The Star and her management team behaved. They despise her for it.

Wonder if The Star has a weasel tattoo to commemorate escaping all those lawsuits?

    I don’t think it’s Lea. She had tons of songs in the last season of Glee, volume didn’t change.

    My guess is Hayden Panettiere on Nashville.

    She used to have tons of songs but currently watching the last season she has 1 so far. They put her in a cult and sent her to Bolivia for a few episodes… I’m willing to bet those were the rewrites. It’s also almost all original music whereas glee would just covered 95% of their songs and wouldn’t really need writers.

    Some singer whom was on Fox’s Empire, though I ceased watching last
    season.
    I don’t recall whom had performed except:
    Jennifer Hudson,
    Alicia Keyes,
    Estelle,
    Courtney Love,
    Joss Stone,
    Rumor “Long-Face” Willis {whom by the way, is NOT a star, nor a Singer, however played a character whom supposedly was both.}

    No clue who it is, but I have a big question about Lea. Didn’t they COVER songs? It automatically excludes any possibility of “new” songs airing (I haven’t seen the show so I base it on what I know: they covered songs).

    For something different: Hayden Panettiere, Nashville.

    Saying that as it featured original music, whereas Glee didn’t, it featured already famous songs, so I don’t really see how it would be the songwriters’ big break..

    I think this is Miley. Lea Michele has never been one of the biggest stars on the planet. Miley, at her peak, was everywhere. “Glee” also didn’t record original music. Every song had already been previously recorded. “Hannah Montana” had a very long list of songwriters. And it was no secret that Miley wanted off of the show…badly.

    Lea was never one of the biggest stars. Glee got re-written because of Corey’s death.

    This has Miley written all over it. She was beyonf over Hannah Montana.

    One of the “biggest stars on the planet” wouldn’t be Lea Michele – that sounds more like Miley. And Miley has many tattoos, where as Michele isn’t known for them. Remember Miley was determined to destroy her Hannah Montana persona – this makes way more sense to me. Also, being young at that time, I could imagine her sense of entitlement and selfishness would’ve been amplified. She’s 26, so was just 18 or 19 when Hannah Montana ended.

    This is not Lea Michele and Glee. This is most definitely Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana.

    It wouldn’t make sense for “songwriters to be dying to be featured” on Glee. Their songs were already famous – but original unknown songs would benefit more from becoming Hannah Montana songs.

    Also, I’ve watched both shows. Lea had a lot of songs in the final season of Glee. I can’t imagine there being dozens of songs left out. But Hannah Montana? The last episodes were incredibly light on the music,…

    This sounds like Lea Michele or Katherine McPhee, both have a bad reputation.

    It always surprise me that Lea best friend is Jonathan Groff who has the opposite fame of being really easy to work with

    I’m going with Katherine McPhee of SMASH.

    SMASH used original songs for Bombshell and Hit List the “Broadway Musicals” that the characters were in. It would make sense that people were excited to
    get their work featured.

    Glee was the other contender ,but I only remember that show using established songs.

    If I were the song writers, publishers,etc? I’d privately read the “star” to filth, keep
    working hard, and get revenge when the opportunity presented itself.

I know it was ten years ago, but she was not that big of a start that she shouldn’t have had her bridged handed to her for acting like she was Whitney Houston or Celine Dion. Although maybe karma bit her in the arse anyway because she hasn’t really been seen all that much since the show ended.

    Optional: That’s a touchy issue, you don’t want to *iss them off by suing them for their contractual obligations. Anyway whoever this is (and I can’t wait for the guesses) is a jack*ss.

      But Smash got cancelled, didn’t it? And she was/is certainly not an international star. Glee was huge everywhere at its peak and Lea Michele was arguably The Star.

      I do not think Katy Perry ever had her own show on tv. The closest she got to her own show was American idol/voice one of those shows. I don’t think it’s her.

    My guess is Lea Michele, I have heard she is quite horrible to pretty much everyone. I can’t imagine how someone could be so arrogant and unprofessional, even after being told that numerous people would be hurt by their actions. That is truly the behavior of a garbage human being!

    Optional: I would sue them anyway.

    Lea Michele on Glee? Although to be honest I think the show was doing poorly in ratings towards the end, so I’m not sure people were that desperate to have her record their songs.

    Whatever the case , her own albums were massive flops and she had to settle with playing second fiddle to Emma Roberts on a middling teen show, so karma didn’t take long to catch up with her.

    IDK who Lady Weasel is but if I were a songwriter & had the understanding that she’d sing my song during that final show & then she refused to–I’d sue. What an unprofessional jerk.

    Leah Michelle from Glee. You could tell that she was getting a big head.

    I might’ve sued, I don’t know. Seems her career is sort of barely there, so maybe that’s karma. I think that the artists she screwed over should’ve exposed her. It’s still not too late.

    She gets a new tattoo to ‘commemorate’ corey every year on his death anniversary even though she is married or was dating someone at the time.

    Optional: easy never work with her again. Never recommend her for any future projects. Wait? Pretty sure that is already happening.

    ‘Biggest star on the planet’ ? For a cutesy high school show? Yea, most popular until the next show comes out. Which was right around their season 3.

      This is most definitely Ariana Grande. She “commemorates” a lot of things with tattoos, and she pretty much does whatever she wants, even her ex boyfriend said it in one of his last songs…She is one of the biggest diva’s out there now. Her management team also groomed her from day one – they created a monster!

      She was the first one to pop into my head when I read the blind, bc of the tattoo thing, but I couldn’t remember her carrying a TV show. My 2nd choice was Lea Michele.

      Victorious went from 13 songs per season to only 4 songs in the final season.

    Lea Michele? She’s always been a huge diva, an actual Rachel Berry.

    Obviously she’s been blackballed in the music industry. She wanted to go into music but failed miserably. I would have still sued her

    The Star: Leah Michelle. She’s the only one I can think of who had a very bad reputation as a diva. But this takes “diva” to a whole new level!

    Option: Knowing me, I would have called her and told her what I (and everyone else) thought of her. Might have tried to sue, too.
