Doubling Down At The Emmys

[Blind Gossip] At a post-Emmys party, these two industry types were talking about a winning project and one of the actors in that project.

They were talking about how surprised they were that [Actor] was so vocal about his girlfriend. One of them said that she thought he would not even mention her because she is a beard. The other one said, “No, it’s actually smart of him. It’s his way of doubling down on straightness!” They both agreed he would get more work that way.

Sounds like our actor won’t be kicking down the closet door any time soon.

    I thought it was common knowledge that Darren Criss is gay. Didn’t expect a lot of people to say that this BI is about him.

    If this is Darren Criss, which I’m sure it is, why is it surprising? They’ve been together for a long time and they are engaged, beard or not.

    Don’t know who this is, but mentioning a beard TOO often is a rookie move. It makes the savvy among us all the more suspicious. One huge movie star (hint: Huge JAckman) does this all the time; it’s ridiculous how often he’ll work his wife into non-relevant comments.

    It’s Darren Criss. I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend until he proposed 😐

    I haven’t watched the Emmys since forever ago. I only read the list of winners and get outraged when I don’t see my favorite shows winning. It would be worse if I actually watched it.

    Sounds like Darren and it hurts my heart. Honey, your most notable and high profile roles have been playing gay men and a transgendered woman. The world is changing. The more you double down now, the harder it’ll be to come out in the future. I hope to god he doesn’t actually marry that girl.

    Normally I have a live and let live attitude about closeted actors. But something about the whole Glee/Ryan Murphy closeted actors sitch (Matthew Morrison, Darren Criss, Diana Agron, Chord Overstreet etc) just irks me!

      I agree. Ryan gets a lot of praise for cast gay actors but he clearly has a preference for the closeted ones.

      I get that being gay in Hollywood makes things more difficult (because they are a bunch of hypocrites with two faces) and the truth is Ryan and others (like Greg Berlanti) generally give job to a good bunch of gay actors, but most of them are closeted (or were closeted during the show, like Charlie Carver and Colton Haynes on TW) and the main character generally goes to a straight one

    I loved it it didn’t get to see all of it bc had to get kiddos ready for bed.
