Met Gala Prep

[Blind Gossip] The Met Gala boasted the usual plethora of singers, actors, reality stars, politicians and other famous folks.

The event was hosted by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds among others.

Of course, everyone tried to outdo each other with their outfits!

Kim Kardashian showed up in Marilyn Monroe’s famous dress.

Despite some drastic last-minute dieting, Kardashian was too big for the dress. Since she could not get it zipped up completely, she was forced to use the fur to cover up the open back.

Kim’s Kardashian and Jenner siblings presented an awkward collection of David’s Bridal, plastic surgery and nipples.

Naomi Campbell put her Bedazzler kit to good use.

Vanessa Hudgens made a dramatic entrance in a black dress by Moschino.

Finally, Oscar winner Ariana DeBose looked ready to hit the main stage at The Tropicana in Las Vegas.

While most of the guests spent the hours before the affair prepping with facials, manicures and fittings, one guest prepared for the event in a rather unusual way.

He didn’t see it as a party. He saw it as a business meeting. He obtained a list of guests beforehand and all their stats and used it to strategize who he needed to meet.

Was he trying to land a gig? Land a date?

No.

His goal was to personally connect with the attendees with the biggest social media followings.

Aha! That makes sense… even if it will come as a disappointment to the women who thought they might have a chance to date him!

I overheard him talking to [two famous guests].

They were congratulating him on his big business deal. He said “Thank you” and then asked them if he could count on them to be more active on [social media] in the future.

They were practically falling all over themselves saying, “Oh, yes! Absolutely!”

He said, “I’m going to hold you to that.”

We hear he extracted similar promises from over a dozen high-profile people!

Everyone else may have been there for the fashion and the publicity but Our Man was clearly there to make money.

    Elon Musk, although he hardly needs to work at anything anymore, does he?

    I knew KK couldn’t get her surgically/chemically enhanced enormous butt into that dress no matter how much weight she lost. I noticed the fur was in every pic and thought, A ha, that’s how she’s doing it. What a bunch of tools these folks are.

    This event use to be neat. I think I heard that anybody can buy tickets -they are just extremely expensive. Well, now that Kardashians are going, the event seems to have lost much of its classiness.

      I read in the Post that Anna Wintour makes the guest list, but invitees have to pay $35k in order to attend. It’s basically a fundraiser for the Met.

    OPTIONAL —> Marilyn Monroe, as Bob Mackie custom designed it for her. He did not construct it. If I remember correctly he was an intern at a fashion house at the time.

    The Marilyn Monroe gown should have stayed in Ripleys…It’s too old and delicate to be worn…Kim looked ridiculous with the blonde hair…Years ago the Met Gala was everything for New York society…..Now with the Kardashians family & Cardi B attending it has jumped the shark…

      An article claims Kim wore it only in the red carpet. She wore a replica during the gala.

      It’s far more famous – but the point has always been to raise money for the Met. As much as I hate how tacky and uncouth many attendees are now, the only thing that really matters is whether their attendance brings an increase in revenue for the museum through the event. Guessing it does.

    This has got to be Elon Musk. From a business standpoint, his actions were pretty normal. It gave him the opportunity to connect with a LOT of people who use the Twitter platform heavily That’s a lot easier than contacting each one individually to pump up their Twitter use.

    It just goes to show how differently things were sized back in the 1960s versus today. Marilyn Monroe was considered a “larger” woman by the standards of the time, though she clearly wasn’t. Kim Kardashian isn’t really a large woman by any means either, yet it still didn’t fit her well.

    the man is obviously Elon Musk, who was embarrassing using his mother as a prop, and who wore it better there is not even remotely a question Marilyn Monroe, on her the dress looked so sexy as if it would just slide off of her. On Kim K it looked like it was stretched and tight really sort of sad actually very sad. Why not have a copy of it made that would have fit her properly and besides her sister looked like she had a copy of it on too.

    Well, seeing as Kim starved herself for a fortnight and still couldn’t squeeze her rump into the dress, gotta be Marilyn.

    In Kim’s defence, she looked far better than the rest of her siblings did.

    Marilyn wore the dress better. It’s iconic because Marilyn was literally sewn into the dress which gave a perfect shimmery nude effect . I knew there was a fit issue when Kardashian tried to wear it and hid her butt during her photo op . She wouldn’t have hid an inch of that dress-had it zipped. Tacky publicity stunt . Reminds me of someone trying to fit into Cinderella’s glass slipper. Marilyn was iconic. We all know Marilyn Monroe , and you Kim, are no Marilyn Monroe.

      Although…by most accounts, Marilyn wasn’t truly happy. Neither is Kim. Both wore the dress to be talked about, in spite of the fact that a lot of it was negative talk. Marilyn had told people in charge of the event she’d be wearing a modest dress. She knew it’d cause an uproar and she’d catch flack. I wonder how much that trouble contributed to her state of mind leading to her death?
      It was a dress for the ages, though.

    Who wore the dress better? Of course, Marylin. There will only ever be one & only Marilyn.
    It puzzles me how back in her days, Marilyn was called “too curvy”, while she was quite petite. How did KK get her hands on this dress (provided it was a real one). I don’t like that KK wore Marilyn’s dress. They are not on the same level, regardless of KK’s money and fame. Marilyn is on a different level.
