[Blind Gossip] This Oscar nominee had some tough decisions to make in the weeks leading up to the Academy Awards ceremony.

What designer outfit to wear?

What to say and who to thank if their performance won an Oscar?

No.

It was about when our Actor/Actress would go to rehab!

[Their] drinking was out of control and [they] knew it but it was a difficult time. If [they] went to rehab  it would have messed up the whole Oscars campaign for [them] and the movie.

Yes, our Actor/Actress is nominated and their movie is nominated.

Yes, nominees actually campaign for nominations.

Yes, nominees campaign for votes once they are nominated.

Much of the work is done by the studios and publicists, but the actors have to be available for interviews. It’s a months-long marketing push.

[They] couldn’t just disappear at the peak of all this! It would have been way too suspicious. So they just kept drinking and drinking. It’s bad.

When will they go to rehab?

If [they win] they will have to go the the parties and of course there will be a lot more interviews to do. The DVD release date is also a factor. There’s also other projects to consider. [They have] to strike while the iron is hot!

There is no set date for rehab but [they] should be able to just disappear and sneak away in the next two months.

    I’ll take ‘Who is Will Smith for $400,’ Mayim. The outlandish smack that he gave to Chris Rock (who handled the entire situation like a true pro) was one indication, and the other was his sobbing upon receiving the Oscar, as drinkers love to sob sloppily when they get sentimental. And for the record, I think he should be stripped of his win because he assaulted Rock, which was outrageous. Oh, and I don’t think he’ll be able to quietly slip away to rehab after this.

    I may be on the wrong track here, but my guess is Will Smith. I didn’t actually watch the ceremony, I only saw clips this morning but after that incident with Chris Rock (which looked completely staged to me), maybe this is Smith’s way of setting the stage for checking into either rehab or a facility to deal with his issues.

      I agree it all seemed very staged. I don’t believe it was real. The slap looked phoney and Will looked like he was trying to keep a straight face when heckling from the audience. He didn’t look angry at all. Odd. And why was he laughing at the Jada joke just before calling out?

    Well. If what happened is any clue, I’m going to guess this is Will Smith.

    I really wanted Cumberbatch to win because I truly think he turned in an outstanding performance. There wasn’t even a whiff of his natural poncey Brit self.

    Maybe Will Smith! I read in one article that he’d been drinking. Thrilled Jessica Chastain won…she can just disappear into a role, doesn’t even need to disguise herself.

    And after smacking Chris Rock, fake or not, he will have a good reason. Sympathy will be on his side. Chris Rock probably in on the show.

    Will Smith. He’s openly discussed his alcohol consumption in recent years. And… his behavior at the Oscars ceremony seemed on par with someone in need of rehab.

    Jada asked him about his alcohol consumption on Red Table Talk, and he wouldn’t answer. He got defensive, saying it was his business.

    Assuming the movie is nominated for Best Picture only, and the actor/actress is nominated for Best/Best Supporting, the full list of possibilities are therefore: Will Smith, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciarán Hinds, Troy Kotsur, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ariana DeBose, Kirsten Dunst, Aunjanue Ellis, or Judi Dench (lol imagine!).

    After the incident with Chris Rock, I think it is Will Smith. Only someone with some addiction issues would have acted that way.

      Yes. Will is addicted to Jada, a narcissist. What we witnessed was reactive abuse. He may or may not have a drinking problem but he made it clear as day to outsiders that he has an abuser and will abuse others for her.

    I wonder if this is Bradley Cooper.

    Optional: I didn’t have a dog in the fight, just enjoyed the show. I was silently rooting for Jessie Buckley because I think she’s fantastic, but I’m sure it won’t be her only chance.

    Will Smith who should be arrested for assaulting Chris Rock in front of the world after he laughed at at the joke about Jada. We all know she controls him as much if not worse than Meghan controls Harry.
