[Blind Gossip] You have probably already heard that many of the upcoming film releases from Warner Bros. will be going straight to the small screen via HBO Max on the same day that they will be premiering in traditional movie theaters.
Wonder Woman 1984 – which will supposedly air on Christmas Day – was the first movie announced, but its release on HBO Max was originally seen as an isolated incident.
Then came a torrent of big films with big budgets that were expected to dominate at the theaters, like The Matrix 4 and In The Heights.
Here is Keanu Reeves and company doing their Matrix thing.
And here is Anthony Ramos starring in Lin Manuel Miranda’s film version of In The Heights.
The takeaway from this is that movies that would normally do big business at the box office will now be streaming to your home television on their first day of release.
While fans may be happy that they will get this mother lode of movies dropped all at once, not everyone on the movie-making side of things is dancing in the streets about it!
Take this famous actor.
He is a star of one of the movies now slated for release on HBO Max.
He is f*cking pissed about this. He was going, “If I wanted to do TV, I would f*cking do TV! I do movies because I’m a f*cking movie star!”
Yes, you certainly are.
Or were, if you don’t stop complaining.
He can’t rant like this in public without it hurting him. He was told to check his ego, stop whining, slap a smile on his face, and help market the project.
This guy seems like he is one “Don’t you know who I am?” away from being completely insufferable, so grinning and bearing it sounds like good advice.

[Optional] How many times have you been to a movie theater in the past six months?
NoseyNana2008 says
I have not seen a movie in a theater since 2010.
deepsigh says
No way is it Lin-Manuel Miranda. He really became a household name thanks to Hamilton being streamed on Disney+.
I think it’s Tom Cruise. He has never seemed to have a sense of humor about himself.
I’ve been to the theatre 15 to 20 times since July. That was when my local place re-opened. It’s showing old movies RN . The staff is constantly cleaning, there are one way arrows/ stanchions all over. Safe as houses.
Thanks studios, for shipping out reels of valuable classics to…
spookie says
Yeah, Lin-Manuel Miranda has done TV – and good TV. He’s Lee Scoresby in the BBC/HBO adaptation of His Dark Materials. Tom Cruise seems to fit.
I’ve not been to a cinema since the start of last year. I’ve only been to stores to get medication. I’m high risk so I’m shielding.
core44d says
It’s not Tom Cruise as Top Gun Maverick is not one of the 13 Warner films headed to HBO Max.
eas12397 says
Miles Teller he has a massive ego and his in top gun
aaaBunni says
Tom Cruise is a great guess. I was thinking Chris Pine too. I doubt it’s Lin Manuel and sincerely doubt it’s Keanu, he’s way too cool for that.
Monkey says
It can’t be Lin-Manuel, he’s on TV atm and they mention his name in the article, that would be pretty sloppy gossip if it were him. Plus he does other stuff so not really a ‘movie star’.
I think Will Smith for that King Richard movie is a good shout, he still seems to think he has the star power and should be on the big screen even though his movies have not been great for a while, and that’s being polite.
BobNYC says
“Dancing in the Streets” sure does point to West Side Story w/ Ansel Elgort, but I haven’t heard if it will be released on the small screen. There was an issue with accusations of abuse against him recently and he was told to stay out of the spotlight, so… don’t know.
I haven’t been to the theater since COVID and won’t be going at least for the rest of this year and maybe into 2022.
little leigh says
Timothee Chalamet has already had a Netflix movie though – The king, so doubt it’s him.
seatofmypants says
Lin Manuel was on House for an Arc, so i would be surprised if it were him….

Keanu Reeves
parkland45 says
I’d be shocked if this were Lin-Manuel. Have no idea who the jerk is. The last movie theater experience was in maybe March, to see Knives Out. It was just before everything shut down. There’s something about seeing a great movie on the big screen. If it’s a really great movie, you have to get your bearings when you walk outside!

West Side Story & Ansel Elgort

Tom Cruise, Mission Impossible 7

Can’t see this being Keanu. Seems way too down to earth and thankful for success to be a diva. Lin Manuel Miranda? He seems full of himself. Or Tom Cruise?
Haven’t been to a theater in a couple of years. Way too expensive. We usually wait until it’s on demand or on DVD.
CanaryCry says
Please don’t let it be Keanu …
I haven’t been in a movie theater since 2017. Of course, it was for Wonder Woman (twice).
porsche says
Tom Cruise. He only does movies, hence his comment. Big business=risky business, dancing in the streets=dancing in risky business, can’t rant in public without hurting his image=he ranted on Oprah about Kate also known as Katie, grin and bear it=he definitely grins rather than smiles.
stephyod says
Definitely Tom Cruise!
tinker says
Actor/Movie: haven’t a clue, although it seems that it’s someone who’s a recognisable name, but not necessarily a mega name (the whole check yourself and stop whining gives that away).
[Optional] How many times have you been to a movie theater in the past six months? Zero – my local has only been open barely 3 months in total since this time last year following a winter refurb and covid lockdowns though so not a big surprise.
MrsCleaver says
“Grin & bear it” movie star? Tom Cruise & his old guy version of Top Gun.
I haven’t been to the movies at a theater in a couple of years. Nothing I’ve wanted to see so bad I couldn’t wait for cable.
haha_fools says
The Lin-Manuel clues do seem to fit. However he’s on tv currently on His Dark Materials. And it’s on HBO. It’s a very good show, but he’s not my favorite on there. Not sure who else it could be, but Timotheeeeeee, seems like a d* bag to me, so I’ll guess him😉.

Going with Jared Leto on this, starring with Denzel Washington in The Little Things.
Grin and bear it referring to his role as the Joker…..short lived as it mercifully turned out to be.
aaaLCT says
It’s gotta be someone from DUNE. They are all Movie Actors, except maybe Zendaya who did a Disney show.
cassadaga says
Could be anyone. But I’m gonna guess either Josh Brolin or Jeremy Renner.
kvetro60 says
The last movie I saw in a theatre was probably 3 – 4 years ago. Too expensive and people are obnoxious with their darn phones.
So many egomaniacs in Hollywood it’s hard to figure this one out. I’ll go with DiNiro because he’s such a jerk anymore.
blubelle says
Not sure who this is, but what an entitled idiot. He should be grateful he has work and his film is being released, regardless of platform.
I haven’t been to a movie theater since February and don’t plan to go to one any time soon. I’ve really been enjoying watching movies at home and I’m excited about the new content being released.

Best guess is Denzel Washington, Jared Leto or Will Smith. I would be completely shocked if it were Keanu. I only saw Tenet over the summer and really enjoyed it despite not knowing what was going on half the time.

I am going with Tom Cruise. The phrase “grinning and bearing it,” seems to harken back to when Tom was called Grin at this site while Katie Holmes was called “Chip.” Also, sorry but Tom does have a rather manic grin.
Movie – Top Gun: Maverick.
Optnl: Not at all! I haven’t felt comfortable doing that since the onset of COVID.

Timothee Chalamet, Dune.
Dude should be glad to still have a job.
I have been to a movie theater zero times this entire year, and won’t go to one until the vaccine is widely accepted and used. If any still exist by then 🤷♀️
