[Blind Gossip] In the most refined, educated, cultured, polished, and modern way, this celebrity couple reacted to a proposed change to their branding.

Their reaction was basically, “What the f*ck? What the actual f*ck?!”

So if you read something about how they have accepted the change, roll your eyes.

They have definitively NOT accepted this change. They are furious beyond belief!!! This will cost them millions of dollars. They have sunk a lot of money into two-word branding, websites, trademarks, logos, etc. They are asking their attorneys if they have legal standing to fight.

Their rationale for fighting?

The word [redacted] is already being used on towels, on liquor, and on soda brands! They think they should be able to use the word the way they want to.

Maybe. However, fighting the husband’s family on this could potentially make a bad situation even worse!

It is possible that if they even signal that they are going to fight for that one word, the family could withdraw permission for the second word as well.

Meaning… the couple could have certain titles taken away from them and have both words of the trademark challenged.

Since the titles are pretty much all they have left, they might want to quit while they are behind. Better to settle for half than none?

Perhaps their time would be better spent coming up with a new brand.

In between all that yoga, of course.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will cease calling their brand “Sussex Royal”!

This change is being made because The Queen does not want them to use the word “royal” in their brand.

That was a strong move by Queen Elizabeth.

Harry and Meghan have made clear that they don’t want to fulfill the RESPONSIBILITIES of being royal… but still want all the BENEFITS of being royal.

Could you imagine if you walked up to your boss today and said, “I quit! I don’t want to do any more work. But I expect to keep my corner office and my title and my salary and my benefits!”

Well, The Queen heard all that nonsense, clapped back with some serious side eye, and said, “GTFO!”

Just kidding. The Queen would never say that.

But she did say, “No.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer use the word royal, as in their “Sussex Royal” branding, a spokeswoman for the couple has said.

The spokeswoman said: “While the duke and duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word royal, it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation, when it is announced this spring, will not be named Sussex Royal Foundation.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ in any territory post-spring 2020.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had been using the brand “Sussex Royal” and implementing it on everything from trademark filings for various goods and services, social media (particularly Instagram) accounts, their charitable foundation, and their website.

Those trademark applications must now be cancelled!

Which means we will now be deprived of prestigious Sussex Royal gear like this:

Oops, sorry. That wasn’t part of their product line.

Anyway, this is a huge blow to the couple’s plans and they are definitely NOT happy about it.

Your friends at Blind Gossip told you that Meghan Markle, in particular, was ready to fight to use the word “royal.”

She felt legally entitled to keep the Sussex Royal brand that she was building, and considered mounting a legal challenge against the British Royal Family to retain the brand name, including the word “royal.”

And now we have confirmation of that from another source.

The 38-year-old complained to her inner circle that using the name ‘shouldn’t even be an issue in the first place and it’s not like they want to be in the business of selling T-shirts and pencils,’ the insider said. 

They added: ‘Meghan said she’s done with the drama and has no room in her life for naysayers, and the same goes for Harry.’

The news did not sit well with Meghan, as her friend explained: ‘Meghan said the global projects they are working on speak for themselves and they chose that name to protect the royal name, not profit off of it.’

Protect the royal name? PROTECT the royal name?

That last line is one of the funniest things we’ve ever read! Of course she was planning to PROFIT off the royal name!

Now that the brand name Sussex Royal has been snatched away from her, Markle and her team will spin it like it’s no big deal.

But, the insider added: ‘Meghan has told her inner circle that their success is inevitable with or without their current brand name. 

‘She said regardless of the name, Harry and Archie have royal blood and no one can take that away. And that as a family, they will always be considered royalty. 

‘She said they know what their true intentions are and that’s all that matters. 

Oh, please! Their true intentions are to make money off of Harry’s heritage. Full stop.

One additional note about the consequences if Markle had not let go of the word “royal.”

Blind Gossip found out that if Meghan Markle had actually tried to fight the BRF (British Royal Family) on the use of the word “royal” in her brand, things could have gotten even uglier!

The BRF would have played hardball.

They would have taken away more.

No more Duke and Duchess.

No more Sussex.

Oh, yes. They would have taken it ALL away!

That would have been absolutely devastating to the couple’s efforts to market themselves as special and elite and privileged.

Prince Harry will always be Prince Harry. However, Meghan Markle would have been without any title.

Not Princess Meghan, not Her Royal Highness, not Duchess of Sussex, not anything that connotes prestige. She would have been Meghan Markle, or perhaps Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor. But no title.

To go from entitled to untitled was unthinkable. And THAT is why Harry and Meghan caved on the “royal” part of their brand.

Frankly, Meghan Markle was incredibly dumb to have even hinted at defiance by having her friends release statements about her being legally entitled to the word “royal.” She could have easily have lost “Duchess” and “Sussex” too.

Meghan Markle should mind her step.

Royal Crown Cola? Crown Royal Whiskey? Royal Caribbean Cruises? You’re all good to go!

Harry and Meghan just updated their SussexRoyal.com website with some incredible details about what the new agreement will look like.

They are still arguing about their right to use the word “royal”!

And they are not establishing a charitable foundation.

This is astonishing!

We are pleased to now be able to share with you an update on many of the details agreed at a meeting of The Royal Family in January 2020, which outlines The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new roles, taking effect Spring 2020. We had hoped to be allowed to share these details with you sooner (to mitigate any confusion and subsequent misreporting), but the facts below should help provide some clarification around this transition and the steps for the future.

As agreed and set out in January 2020:

It is agreed that the commencement of the revised role of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take effect Spring 2020 and undergo a 12 month review.

The Royal Family respect and understand the wish of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to live a more independent life as a family, by removing the supposed ‘public interest’ justification for media intrusion into their lives. They remain a valued part of Her Majesty’s family. 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will become privately funded members of The Royal Family with permission to earn their own income and the ability to pursue their own private charitable interests.

The preference of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex was to continue to represent and support Her Majesty The Queen albeit in a more limited capacity, while not drawing on the Sovereign Grant. 

While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place. 

Per the agreement The Duke and Duchess of Sussex understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties and not undertake representative duties on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.

As agreed and set out in January, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their “HRH” prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer actively use their HRH titles as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020.

That HRH business is clear as mud.

As the grandson of Her Majesty and second son of The Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex remains sixth in line to the throne of The British Monarchy and the Order of Precedence is unchanged.

But still in line behind allllll these people…

It was agreed that The Duke and Duchess will no longer be able to formally carry out ‘official duties’ for The Queen or represent The Commonwealth, but they will, however, be allowed to maintain their patronages (including those that are classified as ‘royal’ patronages).

If they are “royal” patronages, shouldn’t they be allocated to working royals?

It is agreed that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to require effective security to protect them and their son.  This is based on The Duke’s public profile by virtue of being born into The Royal Family, his military service, the Duchess’ own independent profile, and the shared threat and risk level documented specifically over the last few years. No further details can be shared as this is classified information for safety reasons.

In relation to the military, The Duke of Sussex will retain the rank of Major, and honorary ranks of Lieutenant Commander, and Squadron Leader. During this 12-month period of review, The Duke’s official military appointments will not be used as they are in the gift of the Sovereign. No new appointments will be made to fill these roles before the 12-month review of the new arrangements is completed.

While per the agreement, The Duke will not perform any official duties associated with these roles, given his dedication to the military community and ten years of service he will of course continue his unwavering support to the military community in a non-official capacity. As founder of the Invictus Games, The Duke will proudly continue supporting the military community around the world through the Invictus Games Foundation and The Endeavour Fund.

Based on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s desire to have a reduced role as members of The Royal Family, it was decided in January that their Institutional Office would have to be closed, given the primary funding mechanism for this official office at Buckingham Palace is from HRH The Prince of Wales. The Duke and Duchess shared this news with their team personally in January once they knew of the decision, and have worked closely with their staff to ensure a smooth transition for each of them.

Over the last month and a half, The Duke and Duchess have remained actively involved in this process, which has understandably been saddening for The Duke and Duchess and their loyal staff, given the closeness of Their Royal Highnesses and their dedicated team.

As The Duke and Duchess will no longer be considered full-time working Members of The Royal Family, it was agreed that use of the word ‘Royal’ would need to be reviewed as it pertains to organisations associated with them in this new regard. More details on this below.

Additional Details: 

As shared in early January on this website, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a ‘foundation’, but rather intend to develop a new way to effect change and complement the efforts made by so many excellent foundations globally.

The creation of this non-profit entity will be in addition to their cause driven work that they remain deeply committed to. While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word ‘Royal’, it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation will not utilise the name ‘Sussex Royal’ or any other iteration of ‘Royal.’

Not a “foundation” but a non-profit. We wonder if there is more independent financial oversight in the latter. And why is “foundation” in quotes?

For the above reason, the trademark applications that had been filed as protective measures and that reflected the same standard trademarking requests as done for The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have been removed. 

While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.

The couple were told they must stop using the branding when they stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family at the end of March. Paperwork has now been filed to officially dissolve the company and any companies linked with it. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be planning to now turn their attention to using Harry’s sustainable tourism charity Travalyst to help the sector recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

The tourism charity’s website describes itself as a foundation with the “ambition to change the impact of travel, for good”.

Wait a minute.

Harry and Meghan – who travel on gas-guzzling private jets as often as you travel in your car – want to run some preachy, hypocritical eco travel charity?

It says: “We believe in the power and importance of travel and that we also have a shared responsibility to our planet and to each other.

Yes, they are a catalyst for change.

As long as that change is jingling in their pockets.

A source told Newsweek: “Following previous announcements that The Duke and Duchess will not be using the name ‘Sussex Royal’ and will not continue with a foundation in its name, paperwork has been filed with Companies House and the Charity Commission to formally close the charity down.

“This will appear on the online public record in the coming days. The charity formally enters a period of ‘solvent liquidation’.”

“Travalyst is now operating as an independent non-profit based in the UK, and all assets from Sussex Royal will transfer over.

    Unless Travalyst comes up with a vaccine for COVID 19, I don’t see how Harry’s “sustainable travel charity” can help the travel sector recover. Less people on flights because of social distancing is the opposite of “sustainable.” Maybe it makes sense if you’re greedy and planning it through a drug-fueled haze.

I just find it HIGHLY amusing that Harry’s wife would think that she could out play the Queen of England. The Queen has lived through a world war, the Depression, met with 12 of the last 13 sitting US presidents, she’s led a country for 65 years…and this sociopathic “actress” thought she could come in and play hardball.     Meghan has shown absolute disrespect, a complete lack of integrity, deception, and outright exploitive greed. I can’t believe her wedding was just in the Spring of 2018, shortly followed by a baby, and then outright rebellion (which was already being plotted and planned.) after the birth of Archie.

    I do hope the queen rids Meghan absolutely of her HRH as well as Duchess of Sussex. She deserves nothing more than going back to being a commoner (which is all she truly is.) May Harry wake…

What is entertaining is that Harry & Rachel thought they had this all figured out to make a bunch of money off people and not have to work and it’s now slowly dissolving. They have to change their website, right? Ha ha good!

    Her Majesty the Queen out of love for her grandson has put up with a lot. However she will always have the final word and left the back door open in case Harry returns. The RF sees clearly now through MM after having welcomed her so warmly into their family. The Queen has very thick skin. She has seen so much during the course of her reign. She is not impressed by this calculating and manipulative MM who is a nobody without the new given royal tittles she gave her.

      I believe that Markle had some twisted beliefs and morales from the start, she thinks only about herself and thinks that all people are like that – users and selfish. Even her child (if it’s hers) is just a prop in her game.

    I think HRM is trying to hold things together until one/both of them return in a few days for their last official duty. But ultimately, the Queen will lower the boom on them both. Take away anything having to go with Sussex. If they do still, in any way, retain the right to HRM, take it away. Remove them from their royal trusts. There’s gold in them hills so take their access away from them. Harry may always be Prince Harry but reduce MM to MM. Archie is royal by birth, raise him as such.

      People are upset at how she and Harry handled the exit from the Royal family It was poorly done.

      I also think her not getting along with Kate (who is seen as solid) – hurt her a lot.

      I thought she was the one who (allegedly) leaked the news of the (alleged) affair between Prince William and Rose Hansbury? I’m sure that was incredibly hurtful and embarrassing to Duchess Kate and her family. In essence, if this set of indiscretions by all is true, Meghan’s loose lips are akin to declaring war on the Royals themselves (plus all Royal business and its financial affairs), as Prince William is second in line to the throne.

      Settling down in Africa has gone . Her clothes , the baby shower,trips are all horrifically expensive ( more than my house in the UK) . Making Harry ask for work was tacky . More like she wants to help herself and her own bank balance! I too stated on another forum that it’s obvi they intend to ‘ape’ it all over the U.S. and beyond. I agree – HRM should strip every title and perk they are allowed as ‘Working Royals’, since Harry has basically abdicated.

    B) Mrs. Mountbatten-Windsor would have been far better off asking her friends NOT to leak to the media about her assumed legal right to use their titles – provides HRH with additional ammunition for future battles, and Meghan has shown that there will be future battles in the war she (MM) created herself.

      I had read an article before Harry/Meghan’s baby Archie was born. It said that a lady had been on a walk and met Prince George. He pet her dog and she asked his name (knowing who he was). He introduced himself as Archie. You can find the articles if you google “Prince George nickname Archie”. (Not sure if I’m allowed to link to other sites.) I think Meghan (and Harry) chose the name out of spite, stealing a little boy’s nickname for himself because he outranks both their son and Harry himself.

      Sussex Royal isn’t on towels and sodas…yet. The point is that H&M will try and make the legal argument that ‘royal’ is already used in other existing brandmarks such as ‘Royal Soda’ and ‘Royal Home Goods’ and therefore they should be able to use it too, irrespective of their link to the British Royal Family. It’s a fair enough argument, especially outside the U.K. (although I don’t agree with it because I think H&M are both appalling). HMQ & POW have other leverage though eg cut off all funds

    This is being reported in the British media – the Queen is banning Meghan and Harry from using the word “Royal” in their commercial ventures. No more Sussex Royal – it will have to be just plain Sussex and if they make a public fuss, they’ll lost that as well.

    As they have withdrawn from official royal life and duty, it would be inappropriate to continue to market themselves as Sussex Royal. I’m sure there are other titles he still holds that can be worked
    into a brand name. Sort of shocks me that at his age he thought his family would just roll over and play dead when exploiting The Family comes into play.

    Buckingham Palace will be enforcing terms time and time again in future years. Difficult when you try and have it both ways.

    Not sure what branding they had except maybe the use of the word “Sussex” or something connected to royalty. Only thing I’m aware of as branding is the media word “Mexit.” I doubt it will matter much. The press seems to be on Harry and Meghan’s side, at least in the US.

    The family was absolutely right to do this; I was surprised they didn’t do it sooner. An institution like the Royal Family needs mystique and being regarded as above grubby business dealings.

      Megan’s title is honorary. Only British citizens can hold Royal titles. Megs has applied for British citizenship, but she is no longer eligible, because of residency issues. You actually have to live in the U.K. and there are rules about how long you can be out of the country. She’s a US citizen, and they can’t have Royal titles either. So basically, she has nothing.
