Manly Hair

[Blind Gossip] This actress was the girl-next-door in the first installment of this franchise.

She immediately became a star.

After a hit or two and a couple more franchise installments, demand for her cooled off a bit.

Why?

Well, it might be her hair!

She cut off all her hair and then decided she wanted to keep it short. Too soon in her career. Plus she doesn’t have an overly feminine face, so she started looking manly. Ugh. Not good. We begged her to grow her hair out and try to dress more feminine to make her more marketable but she resisted for a couple of years. She is finally listening. That’s why she was all glammed up recently. We hope it sticks.

She does have a role in a hit TV series right now – with long hair – but her handlers are really looking to refine her image for those leading lady movie roles for her going forward. The general feeling is that if she keeps the longer hair in real life, she may be able to pull it off!

Not Emma Watson.

    Idk who this is, but I never realized how big of a deal other people’s hair is until I shaved my own head. Then people came out of the woodwork with opinions about it.

    As far as actress with short hair, I think Michelle Williams looks AMAZING with short hair!

    No idea on the actress. Very short hair is hard to pull off if a woman does not have a very feminine face-the classic oval. I am one of the fortunate ones who can wear my hair very short per my hairstylist and did wear it that way for many years. I let it grow but as it is fine and straight and I am terrible trying to do my hair, it inevitably ended up pulled back and in a bun. BLEH! I got it cut short last week but not my usual pixie. Too hard to replicate-wash and wear hair (pixie) for me!

    Actress: Shailene Woodley- starred in the “Divergent” series, then cut her hair, and her film career cooled. It reminds me of when Keri Russell cut her hair on “Felicity” and everyone hated it so much that the TV show was canceled.

      I’m still super mad at keri. Felicity was one if the best shows we had on tv, and she helped to have it cancelled. Now we are stuck with reality tv EVERYWHERE!

      Wonder what could push the total cancellation of ALL kardashian shows…

    Based on the previous blind, Emma Roberts? I looked up pics of her. She does have a bit of a man face. Not that any one feature sticks out, but there is an overall heaviness, perhaps in the jawline. The brows are also overly thick and that seems to give her the caveman brow bone. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s there.

    Kirsten Stewart who cut her hair. She is so naturally stunning it doesn’t make sense why she went short. Halle Berry looks beautiful with short hair.

    Only one with short hair I can think of is Scarlett Johanssen. I remember being a kid and thinking she was funny looking when she was starting out. I love her now, and she is beautiful as Ivana Trump on SNL.

    She’s just a kid – her “handlers” and particularly her father aren’t necessarily looking out for her best interests, rather their percentage.

    Shailene Woodley, she looks better with short hair, she’s become a bit thicker in the face though, which can make her look less feminine and age her a bit. Short hair is not a problem, it works great for actresses like emma watson and Halle berry

    Is this Miley Cyrus? Hannah Montana for the franchise, plus “a hit or two” could be referring to songs rather than acting, although she did act a little outside of that role (like The Last Song).

    New part in an upcoming Black Mirror episode with long hair, plus her more recent attempts at looking more “traditional” makes me think this is her.

    Only person on a hit TV series & hit movie series is her. With Divergent and Big Little Lies.

    I think short hair can look pretty on a girl, I just hate when it’s styled like a peacock or something sticking up and bright blonde. Shailene never did this so I had no issue with it.

    Shailene Woodley. I love her with short hair and she should be able to do what she wants anyway. People are ridiculous and fickle, she can wear wigs if a role requires it, it is not a big deal at all.

    As for other current actresses, Kristen Stewart looks even better with short hair.

      Totally mimsicle! Women do not have to: have long, flowing hair. Have a perfect complexion. Have a large bust or large booty. Dress scantily clad. Cook and clean for men. Say “yes” to whatever a stylist or shop owner says we should wear or how we should look. Can we just make our own choices about fashion and how our bodies look? At least?

    Danai Gurira, Natalie Portman, Lupita Nyong’o, Tati Gabrielle, Halle Berry, and Jamie Lee Curtis are just a few that come to mind. However, when short hair goes wrong it goes really wrong. [e.g. Keri Russell circa 1999].

    I’ve always thought Carey Mulligan looks really cute with short hair. Maybe not better than her long hair, but cute. Also Michelle Williams (who looks so much like Carey Mulligan, lol)

    Optional: she has talent so she should be able to recover her career. Big, Little Lies has helped to establish her in more mature roles outside of the things she was doing on the big screen so she should be fine.

    Oh for sure Shailene Woods. She looked very beautiful at Ellen. I always think she does and personally love her, but she did seem more dressed up so to say.

    Has been in divergent franchise I think. And some others probably. Is in the series Big little lies. Has had some leading rolls but it has slowed down.
    Also had short hair for a long time.

      Shailene Woodley

      Pixie short hair looks good on women with very symmetrical, defined features. Especially the jaw and neckline. If they gain weight, the fat in their face messes up the symmetry, and they start to look like dudes.

    Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve noticed cutting your hair short if you’re a woman is a death knell for your acting career. But I don’t think Jen can blame her short hair. She was overexposed and became annoying for some reason. I think she was a classic case of too much too soon. And her acting is just ok.

      I actually like her as an actress, but she became annoying because the juvenile antics that got her so much press become less charming once a person becomes established.

    Her short hair looked awful on her. She doesn’t have the face for it.

    Not many women look that good with short hair. Kristen Stewart for example looks terrible. Longer hair is always more feminine.

      She was pretty good in The Descendants and The Fault in our Stars, but mostly meh in the rest. And unfortunately for her, if she puts on any weight, it all goes to her face. So short hair makes it worse.

      This. Her face doesn’t suit short hair like Emma Watson or Carey Mulligan who have elfin like features.

      She is still pretty but more ‘no nonsense cop’ pretty than ‘romantic lead’ pretty.
