[Blind Gossip] This former star of a very popular cable TV comedy series just had a very uncomfortable confrontation in New York City!
Our celeb was at at a store opening when she was approached by an anti-fur activist.
The startled star was clearly uncomfortable about the encounter that saw one woman get within inches of the actress’ face confronting her verbally while another activist held up a sign berating the actress for wearing fur clothing (which both she and her actor husband have supposedly done in the past year).
Our actress was moved the the side and waited nervously while security escorted the protesters outside.
She looked scared and upset that the protestors had been able to get so close to her before security hauled them off. One of them was holding up a sign that said “[ACTRESS] HATES ANIMALS!” While all this was happening, people were still taking photos of her so you might see some of the confrontation in the news later.
That’s life in the big city!

And is it really that offensive if a horse wears fur? Lions eat gazelle’s all the time, I’m pretty sure that’s called nature.
Amandavt70 says
I 100% agree with you chatteryteeth. I cannot believe how many people dont care or are not bothered. It really saddens me. It is inhumane. We do not need real fur in this day and age. Selfish self absorbed people imho. It really angers me how self centered people are.
libby480 says
Fur is beautiful and there is nothing warmer. If you wear leather shoes or belts or anything, I don’t want to hear from you. Also if you eat meat–you could survive without it easily. If you are a true vegan and never have worn anything leather, I might hear you out.
NorwegianMystique says
I don’t know who this is.
I think protesting fur is okay, but when they resort to harassment they give all protesters (including the peaceful ones) a bad rep.
Personally, I don’t like the fur industry. Hunters that hunt for meat and use the skins as well, fine. Indigenous tribes who depend on furs, fine. I do get annoyed when I see people wearing expensive fur coats, though, but I would never harass anyone.

I’m think Sarah Jessica Parker. She lives in New York City, has an actor husband, and would be there anyway for NYFW. Life in the big city could be a nod to SATC, referencing the title and the character Big.

Actress had right to be scared.
For those thinking fur is fine, ask yourself:
how do you like have your wet finger stuck into an electrical socket to the point of being stunned, but alive, and then skinned.
that’s the fur industry… uck

Do you eat meat, poultry, seafood, buy leather shoes, furniture, clothing, etc? All of these things comes from things that are killed, no matter how you look at it.
VioletBlue says
@spaceship: False equivalence! Animals in the meat industry are used to feed the population, which is more understandable. Factory farms developed humane methods to slaughter animals, using devices to stun them to unconsciousness so they don’t feel pain as their lives are ended. Leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. Animals in the fur industry are basically tortured: electrocuted or drowned to avoid damaging the fur. No one eats mink, ermine, or chinchilla. Fur is a snob’s vanity item.

To be honest, no it doesn’t bother me to see people wearing real fur, and I love animals. I just think that people should be able to wear what they choose, whether some like it or not! No one should be allowed to harass someone else because they don’t like that they wear fur or anything else, and the people that do, come off as extreme nuts. For God’s sake, get a life, mind your own business, and stop with the crazy antics!

No idea on actress. I don’t choose to wear fur but I have never confronted a woman wearing fur. I guess women have to be pro-choice except when it involves what they wear.

I live in Northern Canada and trust me, fur is the warmest thing to wear when the temps are in the -35 C and lower vicinity. Synthetic fibres don’t come close in this climate. So in appropriate temperatures and circumstances, no I don’t have an issue. However….for celebs who live in LA, Las Vegas….sorry it is just ridiculous to wear fur. I suspect this person is Sarah Jessica Parker who lives in NYC…..she probably dashes from lobby to warm car to wherever she’s going. So no…

Protestors are crazy today especially antifa. I Don’t blame the actress for being scared. I would be too.

Ugh I mean it’s gross, but I wouldn’t scream in someone’s face about it. Also, PETA sucks big time and gives vegans a bad name everywhere.

No it doesn’t bother me when I see people wearing fur because I like fur myself and I have no shame in admitting it. I love the feel, the softness. I love leather even more. The smell, the texture, all of it. Furthermore it’s none of my business what other people wear. I’m sorry about the suffering of animals to make fur products but my concerns run deeper over the human condition. Millions of human beings suffering all over the world and nealy not enough outrage over…
chatteryteeth says
Fur is disgusting and the conditions under which it’s acquired are horrific. It makes me sad to see how many people don’t care about it. And just so you know, it is possible to care about more than one thing, at one time. So yes, I am capable of caring about human suffering while also caring about animal rights. Fur is just another atrocity for rich people to stroke their egos over.

Chickens are killed, yet people still eat chicken, pigs are killed, yet people still eat ham, pork chops, etc, cows are killed and people still eat steaks, beef, etc, lobsters are boiled, split down the middle while still alive, yet people still eat lobsters, fish are caught alive and gutted, fried, steamed, etc, yet people still eat fish, and I’m sure the list goes on and on…….so what’s the difference?

I love animals and volunteer at 2 animal shelters. I also eat meat, wear leather and have some real animal fur clothing. Fur and leather are beautiful and I refuse to be a hypocrite about it or PC. These protesters who approached her were in the wrong and she had a right to be scared, whoever this is. No matter how much I love animals, they’re not people.

Yes, it bothers me. But if you caught the rabbit and skinned it yourself, and had it made into a coat, I’d be ok with it. So I can’t go with a hard no on that – I would consider a few exceptions.
