Two Grocery Guys

[Blind Gossip] This story is about two very famous celebrities who have nothing in common except for the fact that they both walked into the same small grocery store a few days apart.

The first man is a famous actor, best known for the very popular TV series in which he starred in the 1970s-1980s.

The second man is an iconic singer from a foreign country. He was in one of the most famous bands of all time and is a few years younger than Actor.

Both men frequent the same posh, East-coast resort town.

When Actor walks into our little grocery store, there are rules. Employees are not allowed to look at him or speak to him.

After two employees had the temerity to say “Hello” to him, our annoyed Actor went to the store manager and directed him to fire the offenders. He did.

After this happened, all the employees were are on edge about interacting with celebrities.

Singer walked into the same grocery store. Of course, all the employees knew who he was, but, given what had just happened with Actor, they were very cautious.

As Singer walked through the store, the employees looked away or looked down at the floor to avoid eye contact.

Singer noticed the odd behavior.

He stopped and said out loud, “What’s going on? Why won’t anyone say hello to me?”

One employee told him what had just happened with Actor.

Singer shook his head at the end of the story and said, “That’s ridiculous! Everybody come over and say hello! And bring your phone if you want to take a photo with me.”

Needless to say, the employees were delighted!

One by one, Singer had his photo with every single employee in the store.

    Alan Alda was friendly when my dad ran into him outside Dunkin’ Donuts– maybe because they’re both old guys or maybe he was in a good mood because donuts.

    Definitely Alan Alda for the actor. Rumored to be the phoniest person in Hollywood and that’s saying A LOT!
    I can see the singer being Sir Paul. He seems as if he would be nice in public. He’s had so many years to learn to live with the adulation and nothing that happens today can come close to Beatlemania in their heyday.

    Singer: Roger Waters of Pink Floyd.
    Clue is “hello.” That’s the lyrics for Comfortably Numb.
    He has a home in the Hamptons, and he is very bold and outspoken. In recent years, he has become friendlier and more personable.

    My Singer guess was going to be Sir Paul. He had always fit into the mixed category but as time is creeping up on him , I have noticed that he seems very affable as long as you are not aggressive , pushy. The douchebag Actor ! Store Closer Meryl Streep but it said ” him. ” Chevy would be high on list but even he has seemed to have mellowed somewhat ! Never heard much about Alan Alda but I have heard Tony Danza is going into Axle Rose territory with insane ego !

    I dont know who the actor is but if its Alan Alda like everyone is saying, I’m especially going to be upset because how dare he be so full of himself when M*A*S*H was the most snore inducing show ever to produced.

    Oh no no no, definitely not Danny Devito! I’ve run in to him more than once at LA restaurants and he couldn’t be nicer; always friendly and very willing to chat with fans and take photos.

    If you read the linked gossip item, Tony Danza seems almost certain to be the actor. So everyone owes Alan Alda an apology. Also, Danza is younger than Paul McCartney. So I guess maybe the Bono guesses are correct for the nice singer.

    Alan Alda is a has-been. He should be grateful if anybody recognizes him and speaks to him. Those employees should not have been fired. They did nothing wrong. Let Alan Alda go shopping somewhere else.

    I met Alan Alda before at a restaurant. He was super nice so this is surprising! I went up to him and chatted it up with him, but of course at the time I was also mid 20s with great collagen and boobs.

    I don’t know, but I don’t think it would be Paul McCartney (even though he was the first person who came to mind) cause he really really really doesn’t ever like his photo being taken… seen him talk about that on TV.

    The singer has to be Paul McCartney. I also thought of Roger Waters of Pink Floyd but I can’t see him actually inviting people to take photos with him, but maybe he was in a good mood that day. Both have homes in the Hamptons.

    The problem is that both of them are in their ’70’s and the actor is supposed to be older, so the actor would have to be late ’70’s or older. I got nothing.

      I just don’t think that Waters has such a famous face that all of the employees would obviously recognize.

    I’m going to guess Scott Baio as the actor. Happy Days was in late 70’s and 80’s. And I’ve read he can be quite the jerk so I could see him being rude.
    The singer I’m having problems with. My first guess is Phil Collins, but I believe he’s older than Baio.

    No idea who the actor is but I’ll say the singer is Paul McCartney and he was in the Hamptons.

    I met Paul McCartney once and he couldn’t have been nicer, he’s a really lovely man !

    Actor: William Shatner? (Even though Star Trek the tv series ran in the 60s). Temerity = boldness. Boldly go where no man has gone…

    Singer: Paul McCartney. He had a tour called One on One a few years ago.

    Actor needs to get over himself. Kudos to Singer!

      Good one! Shatner is one of the few 70’s TV actors, along w Alan Alda, Danny Devito, and Henry Winkler who would still be recognizable to the employees.

    Complete guesses:

    The related blind is about Tony Danza and I’ve heard he’s an asshole, so I’ll go him for the actor.

    Singer I cross-referenced with best-selling bands and international ones, and I’m gonna go with Bono because he a) loves attention, and b) doesn’t seem like an asshole.

    Danza is 68, Bono is 59, so the ages check out. The only thing that doesn’t quite add up is Who’s the Boss was on in the 80s/90s, not 70s/80s, so the actor could be someone entirely different.

      I doubt the actor is Tony, though. “Boss” would have been used instead of “manager”.

    Singer: Macca – Sir Paul

    I’ve always wanted to like Alda but he seems like a preachy old booger. Macca likes the attention.

    Bill is quite, shall we say, quirky? Phil isn’t exactly the friendliest guy, but I’m sure he does his best to get along with others.

    Both have Hampton’s homes. And YES, I believe it. Paul McCartney was in my small home town quite a few years ago and shopped at my local pharmacy. He was so friendly to everyone and wanted to meet everyone on the street. Lovely person.

    Based on the linked blind I’ll guess that rude actor is Tony Danza.

    Singer sounds like Paul McCartney, who frequently is spotted in the Hamptons and is reportedly delightful.

    When you’re a former Beatle you don’t need to terrorize grocery store staff to make yourself feel relevant.

    Having difficulty with the singer. Everyone whom.I can think of was born in the 40s or else has passed on (Prince.) Or is American (Steven Tyler.)

    How about Ricky Riccardo?? ;-D

    People probably spit on food that Danza orders in restaurants once they’ve met him. Singer is a true gentleman and a decent bloke.

    I have no idea who these guys could be. BUT… the reason the behavior of Actor happens is because people allow it, and enabler co-sign it. As in the manager who fired the employees. Trust that telling 1 arrogant actor to bugger off isn’t going to mess up business!

    Singer: Paul McCartney, always a gentleman. He and his wife I believe own in East Hampton, on Long Island.

    Based on the linked blind, someone from Taxi…Judd Hirsch? Because Danza is probably more famous for Who’s the Boss, which started airing in the 80s.

      That’s it! Only name I could think of was Tom Selleck, but I’ve never read anything of the sort about him being a diva like that. Alan Alda has been full of himself since “The Hawkeye Show” (AKA “M*A*S*H”) went off the air.

      I can’t see Alan Alda being like that. He hasn’t really been in super famous since Mash went off the air. I doubt if the staff would actually recognize him unless they are over 60 . So I doubt think it’s him.

    No clue on the actor, but I’m getting a Paul McCartney vibe off the singer. It’s either him or Jagger- and I can’t see Mick being that warm and fuzzy.

      OMG, I would LOVE to run into Sir Paul at the supermarket and get a picture with him! (Mick Jagger too but I doubt Mick would be all warm and cuddly like Sir Paul. He’d probably look through you as he asked you (a non-store employee) where the cucumbers are and then glide off. Same with Dylan.)
