Will Lie For Oscar

[Blind Gossip] Remember when Meryl Streep pretended not to know anything about Harvey Weinstein’s years of abuse of actresses?

Streep said, “Well, honestly for me in terms of Harvey, I really didn’t know… It really underlined my own sense of cluelessness… I didn’t know that he was in any way abusing people because he never asked me to a hotel room.”

Riiight. That was one acting job for which Meryl will not receive an Oscar.

Well, we have another liar for you!

This actor will say or do anything for an Oscar. That includes telling a blatant lie about another one of Hollywood’s biggest predators.

He is saying he had no idea about [Predator]. This is complete and utter bullshit!

Before he even took the role, he talked to MANY people – including his friends and the people on his team – about the allegations against [Predator].

So he DID know!

A separate source told us how they justified his taking the role.

They talked about it. They all decided that the film and the role were “Oscar material” and that he shouldn’t “throw it all away” and potentially “miss out” on an award just because of [Predator’s] personal history.

So he and his team made a collective decision that the role’s award potential was more important than anything else.

More recently, they made a collective decision about how he would publicly deal with those pesky questions about Predator’s history.

They were lucky because they got advance notice from [redacted] that the article was coming out and they had time to work with [Actor] to craft a response.

They decided that there way no way he could tell the truth. If he said, “Yeah, well I knew but I took the role anyway!” it would only lead to more questions and detract from the campaign.

They decided together that he needed to be kept “completely clean,” and the only way to do that was for him to feign ignorance about the whole thing.

He knows it’s a lie, and they know it’s a lie, but they are all willing to lie for that Oscar!

Maybe if he forgets his lines, his “girlfriend” can help him out.

Oh, boy. Another lie!

    Hopefully Rami, his “team,” Millenial films that hired Singer for Red Sonja, and all other enablers of this behavior are haunted by the dead victims of Singer’s past like Brad Renfro. They seem to have no moral compass short of a direct intervention and confrontation with the consequences of Singer’s crimes.

    People in all walks of life, in all businesses, trade ethical decisions for success. The question is, how they manage it. Imagine if he’d said from day 1: “We all make decisions that are difficult in our daily lives. I made the difficult decision that since this movie were going to be made regardless of whether I played the role or not, that I would take the role to honor the life of Freddy and to keep the conversation focused on his legacy, instead of on the business of making the movie.”

    Rami Malek and we shouldn’t expect him to give up the role of his career over allegations, even if they prove to be true. If a wrong has been committed, report it and resolve it in a court of law. Don’t hold other people’s career hostage because some of the people they work for aren’t good people. This is wrong.

    What was Malek supposed to do? Tweet that he’d heard rumors? What Singer did was not Malek’s responsibility, nor his fault. Ultimately, this is a matter for law enforcement and the courts. Singer should have been in jail a long time ago.

    [Optional] Yes or No: Is Actor doing the right thing? Yes, he is. He put his career first, which is the right thing to do. Giving up the role to someone else wouldn’t have helped at all, and on the other hand speaking up against the director would only have landed him a defamation suit.

    His only mistake was not having a plan ready in case the allegations come out (like they did) when he accepted the role.

    I don’t know if it’s fair to hold people’s feet to the fire and force them to give up their own dreams because someone associated with a film has a disgusting past. It’s not their fault that the person hasn’t been held accountable for their bad acts and them giving up an opportunity of a lifetime probably wouldn’t get results either. There would have been someone else waiting in the wings.

    We all know that stars in movies have known and done a lot to get he roles they have. It is all sordid at times. Do we start then start blaming the production team for knowing, agents for knowing. Everyone knew. Profit and glory keep silence.

      I totally understand why he did it and I can even excuse him. It was the role of a lifetime for him. He needs it. If he didn’t take it, someone else would. What I cannot understand is when people like Streep (for whom I’ve lost all respect) who are established A+++ stars who continue to lie and cover up. She threw all of Harvey’s starlets to the wolves – hey, she got hers, right?? Screw the little people!

    Singer is a pig, but working with him doesn’t mean you validate him in any way. It’s a job. I have worked with pigs in the past, and I was not guilty by association. Sorry, I don’t believe in that.

    And yes, Remi was right to take the role. He did right by Freddie Mercury is all I know, and is what mattered.
