[Blind Gossip] A year or two ago, this actor and actress were two of the hottest movie stars in Hollywood. Busy, too. In 2017, they each released approximately half a dozen films. Wow!

While riding that popularity wave, they thought that marrying each other would provide an even bigger boost to their careers!

That didn’t happen. Instead, their careers cooled off. A lot. She only released one movie this year. He released none. And the pipeline is not filled with dozens of projects.

They just aren’t getting the offers. Of course, they can’t panic in public. If asked, they just pretend that they are spending time focusing on their marriage. They are doing lots of photo ops to try to put forth that happy couple image.

It’s interesting that this cooling off occurred right after she lost her “sponsor.”

    fassbender/vikander.

    considering how unknown vikander was when she first arrived in LA in 2013 (no profile and no work at the start of the year but several leading roles by the end of 2013?? hmm). her come up in the US has always been suspicious, especially to many of fassbenders longtime fans who believed from the start that vikander was using him to gain media exposure that she couldn’t achieve on her own. they “married” without an engagement shortly after weinstein was exposed…

    He’s talented, but fake/pr relationships automatically cause me to lose interest. I don’t care what they do now, it’s obvious they are in it for the publicity and $$$ only, although that hasn’t really worked out for them, has it?

    Honestly, I don’t think the marriage did him any favors. It didn’t boost his profile, he was already a well respected actor (as far as I could tell). She needed the sponsorship obviously, but maybe her past drug history without the cover of HW has left her untouchable.

    Ooh, I knew EXACTLY who this was about the second I starting reading it.

    Alicia Vikander & Michael Fassbender—her sponsor being Harvey Weinstein, of course. Personally I think Tomb Raider tanked her and Fassy…idk what he’s doing but he should go back to indie movies. He was great in those.

    I’m a huge X-Men fan so I love Fassbender, Vikander is eh to me. Check out his movie Shame if you’ve never seen it, it’s directed by the guy who did 12 Years A Slave, which is also great.

    Michael Fassbender & Alicia Vikander just got married in 2017 and they were all over the place right before. I checked their IMDBs and they were very active until this year with only a few projects for 2019.

    She dive bombed with Tomb Raider and he’s more interested in F1 races with rich, bored actors.

    Wasn’t it Harvey who suggested the marriage?

    I’m a huge fan of Fassbender’s acting – he’s picked some right crappy projects over the last few years though.

    I think Fassbender should go the TV route like Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Tom Hardy (Taboo) if he still wants to revive his career. Heck, even Richard Madden is in the running for James Bond because of the TV show The Bodyguard.

    Alicia Vikander and Mcihael Fassbender. Why they went ahead with that sham of a marriage is anybody’s guess. The whole relationship was a showmance to promote that lighthouse movie they were in and it bombed at the box office and didn’t get them any awards. Why marry?

    Hmm, I was just wondering what Michael Fassbinder was up to lately. This sounds like him and Alicia Vikander. “Cool off” sounds like a reference to Fassbinder’s last failed movie, “The Snowman.” Like both their performances.

    I’m a fan of Michael’s. I think he’s handsome, talented and charismatic for days. Alicia on the other hand isn’t as pretty or talented as she or Harvey Weinstein would have us believe. Michael made a huge mistake… get out ASAP.

    I liked Fassbender’s earlier films (Fish Tank and Shame) and who can forget him as Azazel in teen goth drama Hex, but have yet to see Vikander in anything I’ve loved.

    Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. That whole marriage is a sham cooked up by Harvey Weinstein, and they never should have gone through with it after Harvey was toppled. He told them prior to his downfall, that they should get married, and he could market them better. Bad move.

    It’s obvs Bradley Cooper and his wife whoever. I really find it strange that in this day and age someone like Cooper would go so far as to have a child if he was gay. Just keep a low profile and don’t court the paparazzi. It worked for Kevin Spacey for decades, and he’s a two time Oscar winner.

    I liked her in Anna Karenina and he was good in X-Men. Alicia’s substance abuse issues probably caused her star to fall as much as the loss of Harvey “Disgusting Pig” Weinstein’s patronage.

    Oh Alicia Vikander, I guess the Harvey Weinstein ride is over. Her husband is Michael Fassbender. I never did understand her appeal, her acting was very wooden and she was generic to look at.

    I guess the question is: did Fassbender’s career also depend upon Harvey’s “patronage?” Did Harvey expect men to give him “favors” too? Is there an unspoken male #MeToo movement to Harvey’s story, that male actors are afraid to speak up about?

    I like them well enough, but I’m definitely glad to get a break from them both. Vikander was never that great of an actress IMO
