SOLVED!
[Blind Gossip] Talk shows are always risky propositions. There are a lot of factors that contribute to the success of a show, such as booking the right guests, good editing, and the ability of the host to make the guests comfortable enough to engage in sometimes controversial conversations.
If this particular talk show does not not make it beyond this year, the crew is willing to lay all the blame one person: The Host!
It would be hard to describe what an egomaniac he is.
Most talk show hosts make sure that the guest is the star, but not him!
He will ask the guest a question and then answer it himself or tells a story about himself!
Huh?
So much of his blather has to be edited out that it gives the show a choppy and disjointed feel. There’s no flow. But who’s going to tell him to shut up?
That’s a good question.

SOLVED!
Host: Alec Baldwin
And… it’s over.
Alec Baldwin’s TV talk show, titled The Alec Baldwin Show, is dunzo!
Late last year, it debuted as the lowest-rated Sunday show. From EW:
Alec Baldwin talk show debuts as Sunday’s lowest-rated program
“Overthrow the government”?
Alec Baldwin’s new show can’t even overthrow CBS’ Madam Secretary.
The Mission: Impossible – Fallout actor’s new primetime ABC series Sunday night premiered pretty low in the ratings — just 2.2 million viewers tuned in with only a 0.4 among adults 18-49.
That means it ranked as Sunday’s lowest-rated show in the demo on a broadcast network (and that even includes The CW’s lineup and Fox’s repeats of The Simpsons and The Cool Kids in the 7 p.m. hour).
Baldwin’s series kicked off with two high-profile guests — Robert DeNiro and Taraji P. Henson — but the actor drew more headlines this weekend for his speech at a Democratic Party event where he called on voters “to overthrow the government of the United States under Donald Trump…in an orderly” — and seemingly democratic — “way.”
DeNiro and Henson are good gets. The show was just… awkward.
The set was dark and moody. Alec sat directly across from his guests. Alec Baldwin is actually a really funny guy, but there was no lightness to the show. There was no audience. And Alec talked about himself. A lot.
Just a few weeks later, the show was moved to Saturday night.
Saturday night is like the hospice zone for shows that are dying but need to burn off their remaining episodes.
From Variety:
‘Alec Baldwin Show’ Moved to Saturday Nights on ABC
ABC has all but pulled the plug on “The Alec Baldwin Show,” with the broadcaster moving the talk show hosted by the actor to Saturday nights.
ABC announced Tuesday that reruns of “Shark Tank” will now run in the show’s Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET timeslot beginning Nov. 18, with “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Holiday Special” set to air in the timeslot on Dec. 2. New episodes of “The Alec Baldwin Show” will resume in its new timeslot on Dec. 8 at 10 p.m. ET.
The show has failed to find a significant audience, currently ranking as one of ABC’s lowest-rated programs. It launched in October to a 0.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers, with the most recent episode on Sunday drawing a 0.3 and 1.5 million. Nevertheless, Baldwin will stay in business with ABC, as he also hosts the revival of the game show “Match Game” at the network. He and his El Dorado Pictures banner are also under a first-look deal at ABC.
This is not the first time the Emmy winner and Oscar nominee has presided over a talk show. From October to November 2013, Baldwin hosted the MSNBC series “Up Late With Alec Badlwin,” with the cable news network cancelling that show after just five episodes.
The news also comes less than a week after Baldwin was arrested in New York after a man accused Baldwin of punching him in the face during a dispute over a parking space. Baldwin was released from police custody hours later, stating that the charge he had punched the man was “egregiously misstated.”
Yes, that’s right. Just a few weeks into his new show, hothead Alec Baldwin managed to get himself arrested. Again. Sigh.
Although neither the parking dispute nor the talk show worked out well for him, you do have to give Alec Baldwin credit for trying something different with the talk show. In total, Baldwin managed to get six episodes on the air.
Now he’s back to Match Game… anger management classes… and imitating President Donald Trump.
Congratulations to Midwestgurl for being first with the correct answer!

Alec Baldwin. I attempted to watch his first show. I felt like every question asked of Robert De Niro was immediately answered by Alec Baldwin…with his personal story and talk of himself.

I have several guesses…
1) Andy Cohen (I think he’s gotten full of himself over the years)
2) Alec Baldwin (since his show just started to dismal ratings then it’s probably not him, but the blind fits otherwise; politics aside, I think the reason he’s so good at portraying Trump on SNL is because they share an ‘overly-confident’ demeanor so Alec should stick to that esp. since he wants more stability for his growing family w/2nd wife)
3) Jimmy Fallon (due to related blind)

I don’t think people want this show and aren’t going to support it. If it’s just a platform for him to make it all about himself, that will just confirm what is already commonly believed about him. I don’t mind him for the most part – I was a huge 30 Rock fan – but I have zero plans to watch any of the show in question.

I haven’t watched this – or any tellavision show in over 15 years (except on the internet w/o the programming commercials) but this sounds like the new talk show hose-ted by Alec Baldwin which had DeNiro on it. I understand they took vicious swipes at POTUS on the first show.
Optional: The show isn’t going to make it. Too many people are turned off, even the more liberal & independent minded (like me) as this sort of TDS is getting REALLY old now. Get over it already.
spaceship says
Of course they did (took vicious swipes at POTUS), it’s all they do (rolleyes). The left seems oblivious to the fact that it’s their disgusting, angry, bullying behavior that turns people off, and one of the reasons why their candidate didn’t win. SMH

Blather is a word used in England quite a bit and Bletherskite is Irish/Scottish. Hmmmm…that might point us to …. James Corden! I just read up about how he treats audience members. Refuses to interact with them at all or acknowledge their existence. So, based on these things, I’ll go with him.
Optional: Deep six it!

I disagree. If this is about Alec Baldwin, I actually watched the show scrutinizing this possibility and his focus, listening skills and moderate answers were there. He told one story about Betty Bacall that was like eaves dropping on a good story between 2 pros.

pepperann says
well, it SOUNDS like Jimmy Fallon, and the HINT, IS Jimmy Fallon, however, his ratings are still good. Way better they Kimmel, and a close 2nd to Colbert. #1 in the demo they look for, so……it HAS to be someone else. Plus, it seems to have a lot of happy energy, and no choppy editing at ALL.
KatarinaJ says
Fallon should be dropping to his knees thanking God he has a job. He is SO lame. Like a practical joker kid doing silly skits he falls apart in. I don’t get it. Why have him go down in history with Leno, Letterman even Conan, who were true consummate professionals. Feel like Fallon is perpetually doing a skit with horatio Sands where he can’t keep his Sh*t together. Don’t get it. And yeah TERRIBLE actual interviewing skills.
