He Wants It His Way Or Not At All

[Blind Gossip] When he finally agreed to get help for his problem, the people around him were happy and relieved.

They can’t be too happy right now.

He’s pushing back against everything in the program. He thinks he’s special and smarter than everybody here and that the rules don’t apply to him. He doesn’t show up to group [therapy] and he hates the other group activities. He said that he was checking out unless they let him do things his way. He’s over 18, so they can’t force him to stay. I guess they think it’s better to let him come and go and treat him special rather than kick him out for good. I doubt he’ll make it through the program.

In general, you cannot force an adult to go to rehab and you cannot force an adult to stay in rehab.

Since he wants everything his way, maybe he could find a rehab drive-through?

    I got to see how a fancy Malibu rehab (Promises) works. It’s gossip central with bored, rich addicts all in each other’s business. Some shady patient is going to sell whatever Ben contributes to the multitudinous groups you have to attend daily. I feel for his unique situation. Although it was a success for little old me.

    I married a crackhead once upon a time. He said he wanted to quit. I believed him because…well, why would anyone want that life? Turns out, that IS what he wanted. That’s ALL he wanted. I learned a lot from that, and have mad respect for those who do want to recover because quite often, they do.

    No surprise: he’s not accepted he’s a run of the mill addict, no different from the guy on Skid Row. That’s one factor in his continued relapses: if you think you’re special and the rules don’t apply, you aren’t accepting the addiction has power over you. But the other half is therapy to deal with whatever is the actual cause and trigger… insecurity? childhood abuse? mental health issues he’s self-medicating? That’s what he’ll need to not just get sober, but stay sober.

    Man: Nick Carter – Backstreet boys “he wants it his way” hit song “I want it that way” Well known Nick has a bad drinking problem, everyone knows about his little brother’s Aaron problem with booze and drugs. Frankly the whole Carter family has slew of issues of losing their sister to drugs from ODing. The whole family needs rehab/therapy.

    Opt: If you dont surrender yourself completely to rehab you will never get better. All the money in the world will not make you sober unless you want…

    I think I read something about him leaving the facility to go home to workout. I’m sure he is in a top-notch rehab facility with an exercise room, as well as other amenities. I find it hard to believe that he would have to leave for anything.

    Ben Affleck. Sadly, he will never be rehabilitated as he doesn’t really believe he has a problem. He’ll drink himself into an early grave.

    He’ll leave rehab early (just like the last time), backslide into his other addictions (gambling, drugs?), and in a few years hit rock bottom (again) where he’ll either legit get help or end up dead.

    Ben Affleck, was already out for a weekend break just now.

    What will happen? He’ll continue to bounce in and out of rehab, but won’t get sober until he is really ready. Shame.

    Optional: Hes not gonna stick it out this time, I reckon. Sad. In the video from the Drive-Thru scene above he can be heard through the car window shouting at Garner repeatedly “I don’t care”… Given the probable context, it’s not a great mind set. You have to want to change and fix yourself, nothing anyone else can really do til you do

    Affleck. He has come out of rehab on a ‘break’ and was shooting hoops at home and of course his Playboy bunny’s car was parked outside. He is a child. Garner should stop putting up with his crap for the sake of the children. They are old enough to know what a deadbeat he is.

    Garner should let him hit the rock bottom. No help, no children, no rides to rehab- if he want to go there ,he should call uber.

    This is obviously Jack-In-The-Box Ben Affleck (even tho it’s a Burger King reference). You can’t make someone accept help, when they don’t think they have a problem. Ben hasn’t hit rock bottom yet, and until he has hit bottom and lost everything, he won’t truly seek help. This is all just lip service on his part, to keep everyone off of his back.

    Optional: You can lead a horse to water…. I expect he’ll never take rehab seriously until threatened with a court order banning him from seeing his kids otherwise.

    Rehab is only an aid to rebuilding your life. The actual recovery come the day you STOP whatever addiction you have and fight the compulsion. Ben is too arrogant and thinks he already has control. He’s been a functioning addict so long he doesn’t realise age and the accumulative effects of his excesses mean he can’t maintain that life any more. All his good pals have put distance between him and them. He’s one sick old dawg.

    Since the related blind is about Aaron Carter, I’m thinking this might be about him as well. The title also made me think of that Backstreet Boys song.

    I’d say the only bargaining chip is if the “studio” says he is unemployable unless he goes thru with the plan. Nothing but that will work. Seriously.

    This feels like Ben Afflec to me and I hope he does get it together sooner rather than later.
    I want to hope he gets better but the disease of addiction is baffling and I honestly hope he gets better but not sure he’s ready given this blind.
    Very sad.

    He will leave rehab and die a horrible death from alcoholism. Very sad. Jennifer is helping him for their children’s sake.

    Optional: he will get worse and worse. He already has aged about 20 years in five short years. He seems to want to indulge in every single thing that sets his pleasure meter off. Does he truly think he’s superior or is he doing this to set himself up for failure, so he can quit the program? Oh, and I think he’ll get Playgirl very pregnant very soon.

    Frankly, at this point I don’t care what happens to Ben. I will feel for his kids if he kills himself, but I just have no sympathy for him at this point.

    Optional: He’s going to die or lose everything if he keeps this up. He has to want to get better and stick with the program so he can be there to watch his kids grow up.

    Sadly this is Ben Affleck… If it doesn’t fully commit to the rehab program he will fall in a very dark spiral

    What will happen is that he will re-enter rehab when he’s good and ready if ever, not when someone else wants him to. I’ve come to realize some time ago that I don’t care much for the whole intervention method. You can’t control another adult’s actions, even when it’s destructive. Best thing to do is disengage.

    If he doesn’t want to stay in rehab he needs to hire a 24/7 sober coach and go to AA meetings regularly. If he doesn’t cut this shit out he’s going to lose his kids

    Ben Affleck. Saw on a website where he went home to “exercise”. He has no intention of actually working through his problems. Garner needs to cut him loose and tell him next time drive himself to rehab. An alcoholic can’t be helped who doesn’t want help.

    I read he goes home every day to work out on his own equipment. Even with a sober coach, it’s only a matter of time before he falls off the wagon.

    You cant help someone who doesn’t want to be helped…

    Maybe…maybe if Hollywood wont insure him for projects he will have to come to terms, but more than likely he’ll just relocate to Vegas and spend all his money on hookers and craps…

    Ben Affleck. It’s interesting though, bc I am in recovery myself (Got 3 years clean on July 4! Still can’t believe it.), and I only went to inpatient, classic, “28-day-stay” rehab once, but I *was* in my early 20s, and all patients had to be over 18 to stay there. HOWEVER, you had to “sign your rights away” within moments of coming in. To the point you had to legit ESCAPE if you wanted to leave early. I guess since he’s a celeb, they let him in wo doing that. Hope it doesn’t affect the others.

    Messy Ben Affleck. He clearly didn’t want to go and only went to get Jen off his back. Now that she’s off in NYC doing press for Peppermint Ben has been on the loose. Who needs to go home to “work out” when The Canyon has a state of the art gym, horses, spas, etc. He went home to meet up with the 22-year-old Playmate girlfriend. Her car was at his house while he was home. He’s probably boozing again and clearly doesn’t care about getting clean.

    He’ll probably just leave the program and continue to do what he’s been doing. It’s obvious that he doesn’t want to live a clean and sober life.
    He needs to take a good look at himself in the mirror. He looks terrible.
