A Mountain Out Of A Molehill Of Beans

[Blind Gossip] This very slim actress is the star of a TV series. She just fired a long-time member of her staff. After a large grocery order was unpacked, the actress discovered that there were only five cans of beans in the cabinet instead of the six she thought had been delivered.

She ordered everyone to empty out their bags, and she found that the cook had stolen a can of beans. She was yelling, “You stole from me? You stole from me?!” She fired the cook on the spot.

Maybe if she paid her staff a living wage they would not have to depend on stealing a $1 can of beans so they don’t go hungry?

Sounds like she made a mountain out of a molehill of beans!

    Yes – I would have fired them, too. If they are stupid enough to steal a can of beans what else are they taking that she hasn’t found out about.

    The cook could have just admitted to borrowing a can and offered to replace. Then the response would likely be “no worries” instead of “You’re Fired”. Yet she took and didn’t admit, which is lying. Trust is built and this case it’s it’s destroyed. Everyone is correct to wonder “what will she take next” or “does this open the door for the rest of the staff to take”? The book ” Tipping Point” provides rationale why little things matter. Best to keep thieves and liars out…

    I once had a maid who was treated very well.
    We always bought her lunch, dinner… whatever she wanted.
    One day, my husband, who is diabetic, noticed that all of his
    fresh fish was gone. Who took it?
    Our maid.
    We didn’t fire her but told her she needed to ask
    before she took food from our home.

    Maybe it was a trend with the cook?
    If it was a first-time offence, she should’ve discussed it with the cook,
    and took action if it happened again.

    Um, no, not under the circumstances you mention. And good lord, I would never, ever demand that my help empty their bags in front of me to prove they hadn’t stolen from me unless we were talking $50 or more. Unless it happened repeatedly. But seriously, this woman pays her help that little? THAT deserves its own movement!

    No idea who the actress is. But yes, i would have fired the cook. Stealing is stealing. If i caught you stealing a can of beans, how do i know that you haven’t stolen other things and not been caught?

    As far as the salary goes – look, no one is forced to accept any job. If the actress doesn’t pay enough – then no one will take the job. In like manner, if you feel you deserve more pay, nothing stops you from finding another job somewhere else that pays more.

    No clue who it may be but I wouldnt have fired the chef esp if they served me for a long time.
    Im very forgetful so I dont know if I wouldve noticed a missing can, but if I did and cared enough to find out who stole it, I would ask why they did it, and would try to understand- maybe hey had a need for it and its a very cheap thing to give to make someone happy. I always believe in good karma.

    This is pathetic. I would have taken sympathy on the cook if they resorted to stealing beans. However the actor can’t trust them in her home now. Too bad the cook didn’t feel as if they could ask to borrow a can and pay her back. That might have opened her eyes to give them a raise perhaps??

      Yes, this! I change my guess to Bethany because I could see her doing this to her staff and being too cheap to pay them well for New York City standards. It also brings to mind that recent ad for hers for hiring an assistant who will be on call 24/7 and must do a billion things plus be thick skinned. The thick skinned part means Bethany will regularly chew her out and thus, will probably also count the bean cans!

    She’s an actress as well as being on Real Housewives hence she has staff. Mountain = Escape To Witch Mountain which she was in.

      Kim Richards doesn’t have the money to have a staff..

      I would have let the cook or anyone who stole from me go..I would never trust them again & wonder what else was taken…I on the other hand would pay well…

    I wouldn’t have even made anyone show me their bags let alone fire someone over something so trivial. The cook oughta open up a can of bad PR whoop a** on the actress and disclose some of her dirty laundry and tawdry secrets.

      The cook probably had to sign a non disclosures agreement upon hiring. If she’s that petty about beans she could threaten to file a police report about the “theft” if they speak on it.
