A couple of weeks ago, a story came out accusing Angelina Jolie of questionable behavior in how poor children were treated during an audition process for one of her films. From EW:

Angelina Jolie is ‘upset’ over a Vanity Fair story she says mischaracterized the auditions some Cambodian children went through for her film.

Jolie and her collaborators “looked at orphanages, circuses, and slum schools, specifically seeking children who had experienced hardship.”

The casting directors set up a game “rather disturbing in its realism,” in which they placed money in front of children, asked them to think of something they needed the money for, and then snatched it away.

Jolie refuted online criticism suggesting that the auditions were exploitative or cruel. “Every measure was taken to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of the children,” Jolie says.

Noooo! How could Jolie maintain the narrative that Brad Pitt was the bad person in their marriage if she was practically being accused of child abuse herself?

Jolie and her team needed to quash that negative publicity ASAP!

The best way to do it? Well, they knew that the media could be easily distracted with the flash of a leg… or a story about her and Brad.

Given that the Jolie-Pitt divorce was the biggest gossip story of 2016, they knew that broadcasting even the possibility of a reconciliation would immediately take over the headlines and bury the auditions story.

Since it was coming from her team, the angle was that Brad Pitt had stopped drinking in an effort to win back Angelina and that the divorce was now on hold while the morally superior Angelina graciously considered a reconciliation.

Of course, the media ate it up. It was the top entertainment industry story in every publication:

“Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Divorce Is On Hold!”

“Surprise: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reconciled!”

“Angelina Jolie ‘calls off divorce’ from Brad Pitt after he ‘quits drinking to win her back’”

Except… it was all FAKE!

The entire Jolie-Pitt reconciliation story was a complete fabrication. The couple is proceeding with the divorce as planned and is NOT getting back together.

However, the story DID succeed in completely quashing the Jolie auditions story. Knocked it right out of the headlines. It also succeeded in putting Jolie back in the position of being the saintly person thinking of possibly forgiving Pitt and allowing him to win back her respect and affection.

Oh, those clever publicists…

    Brad/Angelina. I find it telling that he has gotten so much applause & support from Hollywood. I hear crickets in regard to suport for her. He’s complying w supervised visitation, & traveled to see them while they were overseas. All without attracting attention. To me, that plus working on his sobriety is all about loving his kids. I think she would be toxic to his sobriety. The main concern should be the kids. Period.

    I saw something in a mag today about their divorce being off again. Didn’t believe it. After the mess around her VF interview as well, I’m not surprised she’s trying to garner favour again.

    My knee-jerk reaction is NONONONONONONONO! However, they should do what is right for their family. If that means being partners again, then so be it. But if they can’t be a solid support system for their kids (and each other) when together, then no.

    Within just a few weeks, she ruined the St. Angie persona she’d spent years building up.

    Should they get back together? I wish, because I hate seeing any couple divorce, especially when kids are involved. I actually really liked them together. I feel he made her come across as more likable and less weird.

    On the other hand, if they do get back together, there goes any chance of me being with Brad, and I’ve been waiting a long, long time…so now I’m a bit torn.

      I think it’s even more telling how she treated him AFTER the split. She went 100% after Brad in the media. Told lies, planted ugly stories, brought the kids into the media bashing… she was hurting those kids just as much if not more than Brad.

      In times of stress or negative painful events, the true colors come flying out. Angie showed hers to the world. I just hope that the Family Courts sees through her garbage. Sadly these judgea often don’t. That she still has full custody? Seems…

      Nope, I don’t think Brad should take her back. The way she publicly tried to crucify him was extremely distasteful. And it looked like it nearly killed him. Why did she have to take it public? Why take the kids away? Just awful.
