The News Anchor And The Teen Interns

[Blind Gossip] There was a film screening recently, and a news anchor from a major network was there in an official capacity. The Anchor was accompanied by a bodyguard who was provided by the network.

The bodyguard, who was clearly in his forties or fifties, at one point walked away from The Anchor and began aggressively hitting on a couple of teenage female interns who were working at the event.

He was insisting to this young girl that she should go to dinner with him. It was creepy and making everyone really uncomfortable. She said no, so he started hitting on the girl next to her. They were working the event so they couldn’t even leave.

Someone finally went up to [The Anchor] and told him what was going on. They said something like, “Look, this is a professional event, and your bodyguard is hitting on teenage interns who are here to work. He’s being really aggressive and inappropriate.”

Did The Anchor intervene? No.

He said, “Well, he’s single, so I don’t have a problem with that.”

It’s a shame that The Anchor didn’t take the lead and intervene with his employee. Maybe he wanted to tap that himself?

    You failed to mention whether these teenage interns were of legal consenting age ! Yes an older man say reaching near forty or above can have an ick factor if he hits on girls young enough to be his daughter but if they are of legal age there is nothing you can do about it so don’t dump on Matt the Rat for this one. Now personally I think this bodyguard should be canned and is not very good and definitely derelicting his duty.

    The fact that the Anchor made it “all about him” and said he was ok with the bodyguard hitting on these young girls, tells you how self absorbed this anchor is. It also tells you he has no morals and doesn’t care about anything but himself.

    Hmmmm…”Maybe he wanted to tap that himself.”…sounds like Shepherd Smith or Anderson Cooper.

    I suppose that the network should pay off the girls should they decide to talk or file charges. They should also hire female body guards for this guy in the future. My gut says this is Shepherd.. he’s flippant like the guy in the blind.

    I’d say Brian Williams, simply because he’s into pop culture, and seems delusional enough to think he needs a bodyguard.

    The network should fire the guard, and tell the anchor to grow up.

    He should be suspended for a month and made aware that if he does it again, he will be fired.

    They won’t do anything – it wasn’t him behaving inappropriately.

    ‘take the lead’ (his CNN show is called ‘The Lead’)

    No idea who the anchor is. However, I think his boss and HR ought to have a word with him about not stepping in. Once this gets out in public, what’s he going to say? It’s going to look pretty bad to people.

    But I’m guessing Sean Hannity.
    1) he would probably need a bodyguard these days
    2) he’s executive producer of a Christian themed movie starring Kevin Sorbo that debuts in October
    3) this just said “screening” not “premier”, meaning this was probably only the money people involved in the movie

    The network should fire the bodyguard immediately, and give a good talking to their anchor, who should have intervened.

      Oh no I love Jake Tapper- you are right the “tap” is the clue. Come on Jake get rid of that bodyguard!!!

    Optional: Network won’t do a damn thing about it. But should do…..cut his hours/airtime He’ll go so insane he’ll have to be fired for erratic behavior.
