Arya Stark Should Have Needled Ed Sheeran

[Blind Gossip] In case you missed the season premiere of Game of Thrones last night, you missed a very odd cameo appearance by singer Ed Sheeran.

Arya Stark was traveling down a forest road when she heard singing. She came upon a friendly group of Lannister soldiers who were gathered around a campfire. Ed Sheeran was singing a ballad to entertain his comrades.

We were sort of hoping that Arya would “needle” him mid-song, but she did not, so now we’ve got another problem on our hands!

There is ANOTHER very famous pop star (probably more, but one that we know about) who has told their agent to get them a guest appearance on GOT. They will do it for scale. They just want to be on the show.

No. Please. Just… no.

    How do you work Ed Sheeran into GoT? I’ve never watched an episode of GoT, so…no clue.

    No idea who wants to be on the show but I hated the Sheeran scene. He looked so out of place.

    Meghan Trainer? She has that song “No” that’s my guess. I don’t watch GOT but she would be awful.

    Oh god, it was awful. Pulled me right out of the flow of the episode. They kept panning to him and his goofy look. I can’t stand that guy and he’s ubiquitous as Walmart or Starbucks. He always looks so smug. I vote for Needle.

    Justin Bieber. He looks like he would be a GOT fan.

    Didn’t care for it, but because it was very awkward and contrived. Also, Ed is/was a terrible actor!

    I thought it was nice. It wasn’t an Emmy performance, but I think in the course of the scene it gave Arya a sense of who the soldiers were, people, not enemies even if they were Lannister soldiers. As far as Ed, give him a break. He did ok.

    Pop Star: No idea. Madonna? Lady Gaga? katy Perry? Taylor Swift? All of those, btw, would be terrible.

    Optional: I’ve never heard Ed Sheeran sing before and thought his voice beautiful. Did I love his appearance? Well, he did sing a pretty song and looked the part. Except for his hair style. That forward comb thing is just, no.

    I had no opinion of Ed Sheeran until I saw his performance of “In My Life”. It was amazing and brought Sir Paul to tears. If he’s good enough for him and Ringo, he’s good enough for GoT.

    No idea on the Pop Star.. but for the love of god please don’t have Taylor Swift show up on my favorite show. I loved Ed Sheeran’s cameo and it fit in nicely with the show.

    Sheeran is a god awful wanker. I don’t like his voice or his face. I agree that he should have been needled in the throat. I knew about the appearance; my wife did not. She heard his voice and groaned in disgust.

    I hated this! it totally jolted me out of the Game of Thrones world and back to reality. The whole scene seemed just to exist to show off Ed. I was confused by why all the Lannister soldiers were so nice, it was all so odd and unnecessary. The only redemption would be if Arya kills them all next week.

      YES I had the exact same reaction when I realized what was happening! I was ripped out of the world completely and I had to work so hard to get back into the show. The whole thing seemed so so cheesy and contrived, I HATED IT.

    Madonna is a huge fan of GOT – & in so much need of attention again – so I guess she’s one of the biggest candidates. I’m not a fan of the show, so I’m just “meh” about Sheeran’s guest spot.

    No idea. It could be any of them.

    It didn’t bother me. The focus of the scene was Arya and the other soldiers, not him. Plus the song he sang is actually from the books, so it was a good way to work that in.

    Believe it or not, I have never watched this show, so did not see Ed.
