The Shocking Audition

[Blind Gossip] British actress Naomie Harris has had an interesting and varied career.

Now she is talking about one of the worst moments of her professional life… and it involved a very famous actor!

Naomie Harris is a serious actor.

We first noticed her in the zombie thriller 28 Days Later with Cillian Murphy.

Critical acclaim came with her outstanding performance in the film Moonlight, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 2017 ceremony.

You may also know Harris from her work in the three most recent James Bond films, including the newest, No Time To Die.

While the film stars Daniel Craig as James Bond, Harris has a key role as Eve Moneypenny. Miss Moneypenny is the secretary to M, who is Bond’s superior officer and head of the British Secret Intelligence Service.

Harris’ talent and contributions to the film industry have not gone unnoticed.

Here she is receiving the OBE from Queen Elizabeth. FYI, an OBE is the second highest ranking Order of the British Empire award.

Despite working as a child actor through much of her time at school, Naomie didn’t neglect her studies, and went to Cambridge University to do social and political science.

We are telling you all this because we want to impress upon you that Naomie Harris is a serious actor who has worked hard to achieve her current status.

However, the road to success has not been easy. Harris recently recalled an audition that did not go well.

Why? Because, during the audition, she was groped by a famous actor.

Naomie Harris has disclosed that she was sexually harassed by a “huge star” during an audition and left shocked as “no one said anything” despite film executives being in the room at the time.

The actress, 45, recalled how an actor, whom she did not name, slid his hand up her skirt while she was reading for a role.

“What was so shocking about it was the casting director was there and the director and, of course, no one said anything because he was — he is — such a huge star.”

That was my only #MeToo incident, so I felt very lucky given how rife that behaviour was.

It is completely disgusting that he did this and that he got away with it in a room full of professionals.

We are really curious about the identity of Actor 1, but Harris will not divulge his name.

Harris also talked about another #MeToo moment on a different set. The incident involving Actor 2 had a different outcome.

Now things have definitely changed: I was on a project where there was a #MeToo incident and there was no hesitation… (the perpetrator) was immediately removed.

While Harris was not the target of Actor 2, it is good to know that immediate action was taken in favor of the person who was harassed.

    I want to say Chris Noth because of the recent allegations but I wouldn’t consider him a very famous actor.

    Actor 1: I’m thinking Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Everything I read about him suggests he’s a sleazeball. No idea about Actor 2 though – could be any one!

      In a recent interview she said that it happened in her 20s. She’s 45 now so that would put the timeline from 1996 – 2006 (give or take). Dead Man’s Chest was shot in 2005 so it would make sense that she was in the casting process in late 2004/early 2005 which fits that time window.

      However, as it was an audition there’s nothing to say that she actually got the role so it may not feature on her IMDB. So it really could be anyone!

    The link clue was about people who were considered for Bond. One of those who was considered for the role was Idris Elba who she was in the movie Mandela.

    I always thought he seemed like a nice guy. Hope it’s not him.

      He was my guess as well, but I had to run out for a holiday party before I could write this so thanks for your guess!

      In terms of an actor’s reputation, Johnny Depp would fit the bill but the clues don’t really fit him, especially the James Bond clue. So Idris is my guess as well.

    As someone who was really into Pirates of the Caribbean, she spoke highly of Depp in interviews. He would have been my first guess given his track record had I not remembered. Idris and Daniel are out too since she never had a bad thing to say about either

    I’m willing to bet it was someone she didn’t end up working with.

    She was in that movie with Salma Hayek/Pierce Brosnan/Woody Harrelson called After the Sunset. Directed by Brett Ratner-who has been called out for inappropriate behavior.
    I’m gonna go with Woody Harrelson

      # 2 Elba
      #3 Craig is the best Bond by far.

      This has Depps’ leering, dirty paws written all over it.

      Elba was a very serious contender for Bond because he would’ve been ground breaking. Quietly dropped because Elba (not bright), confessed to being an domestic abuser in the last few months in a MS newspaper. Completely unaware he committed a crime so out he goes.

      Craig IS Bond for me. Casino Royale was as close to Fleming as you get.
