A Gold Medal For Attention Seeking

[Blind Gossip] This female athlete certainly knows how to draw attention to herself!

There were high expectations for her for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

She was deemed an early favorite to take home a gold medal.

Unfortunately, she became more of a poster child for controversy than for athletics.

Whether you support her or find her actions questionable, you have to admit that she certainly knows how to put herself in the spotlight to draw attention to herself.

Anyway, her personal life is about to make some new headlines!

She is planing to come out as gay.

It will be very choreographed and the media will be involved through the whole process to make sure that she gets maximum exposure and that all her sponsors stay in place.

The narrative will be that she is brave. Anyone who contradicts that narrative will be named and shamed.

Athletic skill aside, it looks like our athlete is ready to claim the gold medal for attention-seeking!

    This has Simone Biles written ALL over it. I feel bad for all she, and the others, went through with Nasser. Its horrible and will forever change their lives. I just wonder what is genuine with her.

      I assume if she (or anyone) comes out as gay, it is genuine and even possibly under pressure to beat a “shock revelation” tabloid story as many celebrities have had to do.

      I don’t think it’s Simone Biles. One can hardly be considered “drawing attention” to oneself if they’re the greatest athlete to ever participate in their sport and it’s not even close.

      This is either the attention seeking, throw everyone else under the bus, gymnast Simone Biles, or, it’s the dimwit runner with the orange hair and the weird name shakira who wasn’t bright enough to stay off the drugs. Both are uninteresting, as was the whole Tokyo Olymipic cluster-eff. I’m losing interest in traditional “entertainment” and prefer Youtube etc.

      For a moment I thought of the tennis gal, that’s bigger than her husband and wears tutu’s but, she is retired I think….there are so many weirdo athletes and entertainers it’s becoming the norm. LOL, and the entertainment industry worries about their future……go figure.

    I can’t even think of her name now (& I’m not being sarcastic). But, yes I’m surprised. I thought she was dating a pro football star–but that could be a cover for both of them. I wish she hadn’t gone to Tokyo so that another gymnast could’ve had the experience.

    Yes, it surprises me, but it makes all the weirdness around the Olympics make a bit more sense. As someone who’s a little gay myself, I understand the pressure to keep that part of your life hidden. There are still parts of our society who attack LGBTQ folks simply for existing, However, I can’t IMAGINE the pressure on someone with as huge a profile as she has. Eventually it can become too much for even the strongest folks. 100% support her!!!

    It’s hard for me to judge a 24 year old for quitting. I was responsible, but
    I wasn’t mature at that age. I don’t hold it against her for quitting Tokyo.

    A little surprised about her coming out, didn’t see it, but don’t care. Kirsten Stewart did it the best way. Just started openly dating rather than make announcements and speeches. There’s really no need for the fanfare.

    Simone Biles? She’s the only one I can think of at the top of my head who had some controversy going on. She’s going to have to explain away that boyfriend of hers if it is her, which will be interesting.

    It’s Simona Biles for sure.. all the issues (mental health, homosexuality) are very important to talk about BUT I get Markle vibes from her… when these issues are raised wrong way it can become counterproductive.

    Simone Biles. [Optional] I don’t know what to think but I don’t think “coming out” should be conflated with her backing out of the olympics. Especially since high profile women athletes have come out for decades, maintaining strong careers and status.

    Simone Biles (sp?). I don’t have a personal opinion about her. While I do think sexual preferences are a personal thing and don’t need to be dragged out in the public, I also think it’s still necessary to remind people that being gay is normal and nothing that needs to ask for permission or acceptance. *

      This! 💕 Except that it’s not a preference. It’s an orientation. Preference implies choice and most individual’s are born or form the seeds of their orientation very early on. I’d also say it’s not a matter of dragging anything out. Sexuality in any form isn’t relevant in this context.

    Optnl: Not really. But I have had enough of the “name and shame” method of dealing with conflict. My respect for her has greatly diminished due to her method of dealing with opposition.

    If this is Simone Biles, I think she is great and deserves every accolade. As for coming out, of course that would be carefully planned. True for any celebrity at that level.

    Doesn’t she have a boyfriend? Or is she just going to claim that she’s a member of the LGBT community, but happens to have a boyfriend? Either way, her attention seeking is appalling. I hope people see through it.

    I am guessing Naomi Osaka because I believe Simone Biles (my first thought) is dating a male football player.
    Does coming out as gay in the year 2021 require incredible bravery? I can’t imagine who she expects to criticize her? To use this for publicity and the enhancement of her image (‘she’s so brave, wow!’) seems wrong from my point of view.
