The Asian Circle

[Blind Gossip] The number of well-known Asian actors in Hollywood is small but growing.

Many of them are friends with each other and are great at helping each other get jobs and make connections. 

There is one female actress, though, who is definitely not part of this circle of friends.

There were stories in the news recently about how some bad events were sparking the Asian community to band together.

Our Actress was one of the first to jump in front of the cameras.

A famous actor who is part of the Asian circle is really annoyed about that!

He was saying that she is such a phony. Most of the time, she has nothing to do with the Asian community. She has black and white friends. She is known for only dating non-Asian men.

He says “dating non-Asian men.” We say “dating” non-Asian men. Potato, potahto.

But we digress.

He said that she has shunned the other Asians in Hollywood for years but suddenly becomes Asian when it is useful.

Right now she is using the Asian community to bring attention to herself and it is irritating a lot of people!

He wouldn’t be surprised if all of a sudden she tries to get photographed with other Asians or tries to date someone Asian to try to prove she is part of the community.

Will our Asian outsider work her way into the Asian circle?

We’ll see what happens!

    I want to say Constance Wu because she has been so unpleasant and has caught undue criticism for dating non-Asian men, but she embraces/represents her heritage. This seems more like the serial bearder Olivia Munn.

    No one likes her in Hollywood, ever since she acted like a spoiled brat when her show (now cancelled) got renewed.

    Brenda Song. She was just crying about not being “asian enough ” for Crazy Rich Asians. They wouldn’t give her an audition. Director made some statement on Twitter.

    Ming-Na Wen. She has been a prima donna since her ER days, when she wanted to only be known by her first name, Ming-Na, a la Cher. What she didn’t realize, is being a bit part actor in a TV series, does not make you a cultural icon, like Cher, who never needed to use a last name.

    My favorite Asian actor is George Takai .

    Favorite Asian actors not already listed by other commenters:
    Pat Morita, Jennifer Tilly, Meg Tilly, Archie Panjabi, Indira Varma, Naveen Andrews (be still my heart!), Shay Mitchell, Kunal Nayyar, Hailee Steinfeld, the great Joan Chen. And Jackie Chan–I would watch him in anything.

    Sandra Oh. She is filming in pittsburgh and jumped in front of cameras about the Atlanta spa shootings. Which had nothing to do with anti Asian hate even tho the media is pushing that.

    I’m guessing Olivia Munn – she seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, talking a lot about her struggles as an Asian all of a sudden.

      This, because of her insistance that Japanese potatoes are her secret to looking younger, plus her history of bearding for white dudes like Aaron Rodgers, and also dating slightly more famous people for status. What’s everyone got against Sandra Oh?

      I disagree. Potato reference is for Potato Queen. I think it’s Sandra Oh and they are implying she only “dates” (wink wink) non-Asian men.

    Maybe George Takei is the famous actor calling her out.

    I like Jackie chan, ken Watanabe, ken Jeong, randall park (as well as most of fresh off the boat cast) and Bruce lee. Too many talented people that just happen to be Asian.

    I’m going to guess Olivia Munn. She’s only dated white guys, is half Asian, and clearly got plastic surgery to look more white and get more acting roles. I can’t say it’s her fault for wanting to look more white to get more roles, though. That’s Hollywood for you.

    I’ll go with Olivia Munn whose mother is Vietnam Chinese. My favorites are Henry Golding and Lana Condor.
