Time Will Fly On This TV Show

[TVLine] As the old saying goes, time flies when your favorite show stages a significant, season-ending, narrative-altering time jump.

TVLine has learned that the producers of an established series are toying with the idea of ending the current season with a massive timeline shift.

According to sources, the length of the time jump being considered is in the neighborhood of five years.

If the trigger ultimately gets pulled on the flash-forward twist, it would have enormous implications for a number of the show’s current storylines/characters ahead of next season.

If it’s a clue you want, it’s a (relatively, infuriatingly minor) clue you are going to get: The show looking to play fast and loose with the calendar airs on one of the five broadcast networks (i.e. ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC or The CW).

A decision on whether to proceed with the time warp is expected to be made in the coming days, well in advance of the mid-April publication of TVLine’s 2020 May Sweeps Scorecard.

Based on the very limited intel we have given you, do you have any thoughts/theories as to which series may dash through 60 months faster than a speeding bullet (that’s not another clue, BTW)?

    I’m going to say the Crown. I think they want to pick up at Diana’s death with Harry making such a spectacle of it lately and how he can’t get over it, so much so that he’s at JP Morgan talking about it.

    Riverdale?
    Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols are leaving the show so a time jump could explain their absence in future episodes

    Wouldn’t such a jump be like that comic strip Funky Winkerbean? Or like a certain Archie comic book where things didn’t end well for the ginger protagonist?

    I would love it to be Grey’s Anatomy…with Justin Chambers leaving and babies being born it would be interesting to see how this is all solved….

    I’m thinking Riverdale this would put the key charters to adulthood + a few of the older (Who play parents) cast have been let go

    Those writers are bananas. They also just recycle old plots/methods used by teen dramas in the early 2000s. One Tree Hill did a five year time jump. Gossip girl also had a weird subplot with the golden couple’s parents (maybe) sharing a child that was the half sibling of bf/gf. It’s all soooo bad lol.

    Optional: I would say I’d love to see a time jump for Sherlock on BBC. Love that show.

    I noticed this season doesn’t have many flash forwards. Plus they can concentrate on how Randall and Kevin fell out with other.

    My guess is Manifest, because the characters who were on the returned flight have a “death date” around five years in the future.

      This makes sense because it is ending, and it would tie up some storylines and let viewers know how everyone turned out down the road, but the blind says something about next season. There won’t be a next season.

    My guess is This Is Us, but I’d love it to be Chicago PD. I want to know how the whole Adam/Burgess/Roman thing plays out among many other things.

      Chicago PD. Script is hackneyed and the situations are soooo unrealistic. Cannot watch for long.
