Diva Versus Opening Act

SOLVED!

[Blind Gossip] This big entertainment event that will take place in the near future is not going as smoothly as you might think!

While it looks like the two female performers are a team who are working together, one of the performers is acting like a diva and making things difficult for everyone!

They were supposed to have approximately the same amount of individual performance time, but…

[Performer A] was pushing for more time for her and less time for [Performer B].

Well, Performer A always thinks of herself as the biggest star in any project, so we’re not totally surprised.

Even worse, [Performer A] referred to [Performer B] as her “opening act,” which completely pissed off Performer B.

While one performer does have to go first, that doesn’t mean that the second act is more important.

[Performer A] wanted to make sure that her name was always first in the billing. Her act involves a lot more people, so she thinks that makes her the star.

That’s not very sporting. Obviously, Performer A thinks she is a more important artist than Performer B. Fact is that the two singers have sold approximately the same number of records.

Can we expect to see a public cat fight?

No. They are  both professionals, so they will pull it together for the show.

Did you watch the Super Bowl yesterday?

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira both performed at the Super Bowl halftime show.

It was… weird.

Jennifer Lopez pole danced and spread her legs a lot.

Shakira let loose with an ululation heard by meme lovers around the world.

And little kids were displayed in cages.

Jennifer Lopez has sold 80 million records worldwide.

Shakira has sold 75 million records worldwide.

Congratulations to Danijo for being first with the correct response!

Yes, there was a football game, too, but the only people talking about that today are the people of the great state of Kansas.

Just kidding.

Congratulations to all you Kansas City fans!

That halftime show, though…

Brilliant political display of Latino influence, immigration policy, and female empowerment?

    I really wasn’t impressed with J Lo’s crotch flashing and twerking the audience. Ick. I liked Shakira’s performance a lot better, but there was still way too much “crotch work.” Wish they’d tone that part down, and no I’m not a prude. I thought it was borderline raunchy, and I live in Vegas!

    Jennifer Lopez looked so… Trashy. I was bummed because I felt positive Shakira was lip-syncing, and I know she didn’t need to. Maybe they have to at the Superbowl though, I dunno. But that disappointed me.

    Thank you for saying it was weird .. and not “amazing”, etc.
    I thought JLo was gross, inappropriate and talentless… the Super Bowl audience has a certain number of families with children watching and that was not “family “ entertainment.
    Shikira was slightly better but both were inappropriate imo
    Definitely not empowering to women but exploitation and exhibtionist

    So I wasn’t the only one that noticed that J Lo crotch shots went a little too far. I absolutely LOVED Shakira. Congrats to Andy Reid and Kansas City Chiefs!!

    I enjoyed it. Shakira has a way larger body of work and is a far better singer, though I truly doubt any of them sang live. I was disappointed when Shakira finished and then it was Jlo’s turn. Nice she came back out.

    Preferred Shakira, she was having fun vs JLo trying too hard. Found JLo too raunchy but I wasn’t watching closely. Female empowerment doesn’t necessitate showing off your cooch.

    Controversial opinion here. I LOVED Shakira’s parts and was only meh about JlO. I love them both but I forgot how much I missed Shakira and how much I loved Waka Waka. She killed it!

    Oof! It was okay… I still think Beyonce’s year was far better! J-Lo’s music just didn’t translate well to a performance of that magnitude.

    I didn’t watch the halftime show but saw enough photos online to convince me I made a good choice. Lopez is good at pole dancing and crotch shots. No need for political statements. Can’t believe she brought her kid on stage. Lookit mommy work the pole! That woman knows no boundaries with self promotion. Arod was unintentionally funny with his reaction shots and selfies. They are a perfect couple. Shakira is a good singer and I assume she kept it classy. Congrats to Kansas City!

    The half-time show was terrible. In the age of #MeToo who was the brain trust that thought two women gyrating, pole dancing and dancing suggestively was a good idea? The Super Bowl is supposed to be a family event. THAT was NOT a family friendly display. What type of modeling behavior is that for our young girls to emulate? Desperation JLO-she probably thinks this will get AROD to propose. Pretty trashy but the Chiefs won!!!!!!!!!!

    I watched the Demi sing, the halftime show, and the last half of the game. Shakira killed her performance. She looked great, sounded great, and was super high energy. She’s got obvious star power and is clearly used to performing for her fans rather than pandering to cameras and seeking any type of attention.

    Enjoyed Shakira more than JLO. The show just made me realize how few good songs JLO has released.

    So happy the Chiefs won! Mahomes is from my area of East Texas and my favorite team wasn’t involved so Chiefs were the logical choice.

    Half time show just ended. Don’t care what happened behind the scenes not during rehearsal, it was one of the best HTS I can remember. Both these women got the job done and looked great doing it. Kudos to them both. A definite thumbs up from me.

    Bruno Mars performed several years ago and delivered, but most are more expectation than delivery.

    I like both Shakira and J. Lo, but…
    Not that she needs any, but if Shakira were to have secret guest performer with her, say Beyonce, that would likely deflate J. Lo’s diva attitude.

    Who will I watch? Neither…though I’d rather watch Shakira. I saw their interview on, I think, the Today Show and JLo was so rude, trying to answer all the questions. Shakira handled herself well and would not be crowded out. Just when are people going to figure out JLo is a modestly talented backup dancer and nothing more? All attempts to turn her into a multitalented threat are failures.

    Shakira is a true professional and won’t lower herself to compete. In reality, there’s no competition. Shakira can actually sing and sold as many albums and has never had to resort to selling her relationships or be a thirst trap to further her career. Shakira has also toured the world successfully while JLo has not. Insecurity is loud.

    There was obvious tension at their press conference. Shakira got about 2 minutes of talking time while Jennifer spoke the entire time.
