      I get why he hides it. Football can be a very homophobic industry. He’s a multi-million dollar business as much as he is a sportsman, and unfortunately a lot of fans would buy someone else’s shirt if he was openly gay. As for the closeting, I think he’s doing an awful job of it, but just enough for some people I guess.

      Yes, this. Mexican football fans still chant homophobic chants during games (happened yesterday during the Copa America), and other countries (including Spain, where he plays, and Portugal, where he’s from) are not as progressive about these things as we are (or as we think we are) in the USA.
