[Pop Bitch] If the travel industry gets its multi-billion bailout, this airline owner should maybe start by investing in a new pair of trousers.
Or at least a needle and thread?
Thanks to a long torn seam in his regular pair, people in meetings have been treated to some rather unexpected views of his undercarriage.

[Optional] The airlines – and several other industries – have requested bailouts to prevent bankruptcy. There are several major U.S. politicians who read BG. Where do YOU think the U.S. Government should be spending our money right now? We’ll be approving comments on a rolling basis. Please keep your comments civil.

If airlines want a bailout, they can start a GoFundMe campaign. I want my tax dollars helping small business owners, the self-employed, gig workers, and everyone else who saw their income vanish these last few weeks.
Babakazoo says
The governments around the world should be looking at spending their money on the immediate medical crisis, not bailing out big business so the CEO’s don’t lose their multi million dollar salaries and ensuring shareholders still get dividends. Most have enough capital and assets that will get them through, meanwhile the health industry is stretched way beyond it’s limits and severely lacking in supplies and research abilities to help treat the ill and work towards a cure for this pandemic.

Thoughtful, great ideas itstarapagain and fiddlesticks! Who would have thought the economics behind virus-bailouts would be more important than Branson’s pants on a gossip site! Thanks BG for giving a platform for people to show they grasp the deeper issues.

No bailouts for airlines. They should use the money they charge me and all other passengers for luggage, snacks, less leg room to bail their own selves out.

Yuck! Doesn’t he wear underwear?
Money should be spent on the ordinary people who don’t know how they are going to pay rent now that they are unemployed. The small businesses too that will take the biggest hit in all this.

They should cancel all student debt, both government and privately funded. Also cancelling medical debt would help. Both of these would free up money to stimulate the economy which is better than bailing out the wealthy.
fiddlesticks says
Govt bailouts should be in return for shares in the company. Simple.

Yes, he knows why he wears old pants when he wears beautiful pin stripe suits.
He lets old closeted male investors ogle him.
That’s how he got stated after getting financed for the song Tubular Bells.

BG, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the chance to offer input. Thank you!
I think our economic system needs a jolt. Companies want free markets and no govt interference YET they want free $ on demand. Here’s a thought: loan them the $. Collateral? The stock. Govt holds it on behalf of taxpayers while the companies work to buy it back. Bet they’ll rethink $50 million executive bonuses!
In the meantime, help out the medical community now!! Good luck and good health to all.

Absolutely what NotTooProud said. After the old bailout the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. NO MORE TOO BIG TO FAIL. The little guys have increasingly needed food, housing and health coverage since the bailout. All funds must go to the middle class and poor.

Give it to middle class taxpayers for a change. Businessmen will just give themselves bonuses.

Spend money on test kits, medical supplies, anything to help the first responders and healthcare workers that will provide care for the ill.
I am also not seeing people observing the 6 foot social distance. The people that are not taking it seriously are the ones who will make us all sick. No one is doing what they are being told to do.
spunkfunker says
Branson. I think that If we give them a bailout, they MUST not use if for bonuses, stock buybacks or other bs. I think they need to send checks to every American making less than 100K a year monthly. A one time check of $1,000 isn’t much help if your rent is $2,000! Also raise the minimum wage, a grown person can’t live off of that anymore.

Big companies got their massive tax cuts and should have piles of money. If they spent it all on stock buy backs and exec compensation, that’s not our fault. Give it to the small business owners. Assistance, not just tax cuts. Those won’t help if you’re out of business! Local business pays local taxes – no running to other countries to avoid it. They participate and live in their communities. No corporate bail outs. They didn’t reinvest in the US last time – why think they’ll do it this…
HotTeacher88 says
We need to stop providing aid to other countries and take care of our own. Sorry. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and right now we’re just as bad off as they are.
trivialtime says
Branson. Ewww.
Small business owners need help. The big boys got help back in the 2000s and they didn’t pass on any kind of courtesy to the consumers so essentially we paid over and over because they were “too big to fail”. Well, small business owners, especially newer setups are the ones who will go out of business leaving Main St USA empty. HELP SMALL BUSINESSES. (No, I do not have a business but I’ve enjoyed all the empty storefronts fill up and make little towns feel whole)

I hope the US only bails out American companies. But even that they don’t need to be bailed out. I’m sure the billionaires that own airlines and companies like Hyatt, Hilton, Delta and United have plenty of money.

I want to say Michael O’Leary/Ryanair, but I think he’s Ireland’s bailout headache.
I think the govt needs to prioritize healthcare, specifically testing, treatment, and vax development. I like the idea of bailout money for ppl and small biz, but for big biz, it cannot be a handout. Things like executive pay, dividend payouts, etc have to be examined. Often, these companies favor individual wealth over the company’s financial health. They should not be…

No idea about the owner of the airline, but I am opposed to yet another government bailout of a major industry. That isn’t government’s role. If the airlines, or whomever, want a bailout, their CEOs, executives, and stockholders can provide it. Our economy cannot absorb all of the money that the government and the Federal Reserve are pumping into it right now. Plus, airlines have bought back all of their stock, which means they will get a windfall when travel is allowed.
