Shift Focus

May 2, 2016 Blind Gossip

ferrari shift[Blind Gossip] This reality competition show has completely shifted its focus.

People think that the show is about making the contestants famous. Wrong!

[The show] has never created a star from the contestant pool, so [the producers] stopped focusing on the contestants. Now we just focus on making the judges more famous. We pump out new stories every week about drama among past/current/future judges (Who hates who, who’s jealous of who, who’s flirting with who, who’s dating who). It’s all phony, but that’s what gets the attention and the ratings and the magazine covers.

P.S. Don’t tell the contestants. They still think that the show is about them.

I’m Laredo the party. I didn’t feel like signing I but of course this the Voice. I feel bad for the contestants you hardly ever hear of them again. May it’s better for the countrysingers but for everyone else forget about it. When will they learn? At least with Idol things hapoen for the contestants.

    The Voice

It’s become more apparent in recent years that the buzz is around the coaches (Gwen and Blake publicity stunt) and not the talent. Say what you will about Idol, but you can name at least 5 winners, while its a struggle to name one from The Voice.

    The Voice.

There have been 2 winners who have had moderate success on Country Radio.

Cassadee Pope has had a few songs run up the country charts, right now it’s “Think of You” a duet with Chris Young. She’s opened for a few big country tours – Rascall Flatts, Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker & now Chris Young.

Danielle Bradbury had a few moderately successful songs, we saw her open for Brad Paisley. She’s also toured with Hunter Hayes, Miranda Lambert and few more.

Is this The Voice US? I’m in England, we get a few articles about The Voice US but I can’t name a single winner, I don’t think I have heard a single song from a contestant, compared to American Idol, etc I can name a few winners who have had success over here. Although I do know that just because they aren’t big over here, it doesn’t mean they haven’t had success in the US. I am also basing this guess on the fact that our own version of The Voice UK, hasn’t produced a single success…

I don’t think this is a good direction for the show. I think that show is now past it’s sell-by date. I really enjoyed it for a few years, but time and tastes move on. Simon Cowell will have to find another band to be hugely successful, or start a line of rock star baby clothes, in order to continue to make his millions.

The proof has been in the pudding since Day One. This show has never been about the contestants. They’ve used recycled American Idol contestants and Mickey Mouse Clubbers as contestants, but they’ve never produced a star or solid act that could touch the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood or J-Hud.

Notice every time that Xtina comes back, the only thing people talk about is her current body size. It’s almost like…

    • kcphilly says

      May 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm

American Idol’s ratings went down when they stopped focusing on the contestants and after Simon left. The last 5-6 years when it was Mariah and Jlo on there it was all about them. That horrid Mariah/Nikki feud really brought the show down. In the last few seasons with JLo I swear she had it in her contract where they had to show her reacting/singing along to each contestant sing for 30 seconds of every song. Plus after 10+ years any shows ratings are going to slide.
