Oscar Bathroom Sobs

March 5, 2018 Blind Gossip

[Blind Gossip] This actress was one of the nominees at last night’s Academy Awards. She did not win. And she did not take it well.

She was crying hard. Not like one little tear but all-out sobbing. She seemed shocked that she lost. She really thought she was going to win. There was somebody with her in the bathroom consoling her and telling her that she should be so proud of herself. I could tell she was embarrassed about crying so I pretended not to notice and just hurried up and got out of there. They were trying to fix her makeup when I left.

She was not favored to win, so we do not know why the loss was so shocking to her.

Greta Gerwig! Doesn’t say she was nominated for an acting award.

I would think Greta Gerwig because she was the only woman nominated for best director and this year especially, she may have thought she would win.

Sally Hawkins, she looked a mess when on stage at the end of show when they announced Best Picture.

Mary J. Blige — who was likely sobbing NOT about the best supporting actress award but about the best song award, which she absolutely should have won.

Saoirse Ronan — She’s young. Maybe just all the hype and excitement being over led to her sobbing too? I doubt she really believed she would win, but the emotion of the moment probably got to her.

When I was her age, yes, I probably would have cried. Now? Nah. I’d be honored to be in the nominees.

Poor lady. That’s OK. I’ve let my face hang out before, too, many times when something mattered to me. I understand that it was something she was really interested in and looked forward to the possibility of. The fact that she was not favored to win did not affect her hopes and I appreciate that. It’s OK to have a heart AND to show it!

[Optional] Do you think you would cry if you lost? Well, you can already tell from my post; probably.

    Actress: Greta Gerwig

I know it says actress, and not director, but Greta did start out as an actress and Ladybird is only her directing project + the blind doesn’t mention which category this woman was nominated in.

I can’t see Margot or Saoirse crying over the Oscar because everyone knew it was going to Frances, and the rest of the leading or supporting nominees were veteran actresses. I think Greta thought she’d get it because of the fuss about her being the only female in her…

  27. Baileygirl says

    March 5, 2018 at 8:04 pm

No idea on the actress. If you are brought up with the expectation that everyone gets a trophy, you will sorely disappointed because the Oscars doesn’t give out “participation ” trophies.”

Yes, but I would do it in my car and carry makeup to fix the mess. The secret is to let tears dry and not rub or dab. There are so many good water proof cosmetics and concealers out there, I make it through funerals without much smearing.

    Margot Robbie

Hard to say as I am far from having the personality of an actress, but I can’t imagine pouring out gut wrenching tears in the bathroom.

I suspect she is so devastated because she has an incredibly charmed run. She is going to have to develop some resilience and if she wants to stay in that industry long term!

Margot Robbie …. she was crying during Allison Janney’s speech … perhaps it was just the heightened emotions and the whole season. I’m sure it’s exhausting. Plus, championing a pretty unpopular story. She was pretty brave.

I don’t think we’ll see the last of her! She’ll have more opportunities.

  57. Jelly Drop says

    March 5, 2018 at 3:22 pm

I thought about this for a bit and it could be Mary J Blige. Nominated for best supporting actress and best song. Think the crying was over the fact she lost best song also.

Before last night i think i would of been fine, but if i ever got nominated and lost i see myself sobbing into my water glass and saying “but Kobe effing Bryant has one! Waaaaaaaa”

She has a really long career ahead of her and this showed she can legit act so I don’t know why she’d cry. One of these one hit wonder type leads is the type who should be crying like Sally Hawkins who was wonderful but also very specific and not the first choice for leading lady perse. Makes more sense to me.

  72. Raoul Duke says

    Sally Hawkins

No, it’s a power game behind the scenes. It’s not actually based on talent, its pushing/shoving/lobbying/favors. The studios want their film and cast to do well, as they put millions into project that could possibly bankrupt or damage their companies.

I think Laurie Graham. Her performance in Lady Bird was amazing and easily deserving of the Oscar. Alison Janney was fabulous in I Tonya but Laurie’s role edged it for me. However she must have known the award was pretty locked down. She was probably overwhelmed by the occasion and maybe a bit tipsy too. It’s been a long awards season for them!

  78. Kingofboggle says

    March 5, 2018 at 1:47 pm

    Probably Margot Robbie
This meant a lot to her. The nomination proved she isn’t just a pretty face and actually has acting chops. And in the weeks leading up, even if you know there’s a heavy favorite, I’m sure you can rationalize a scenario where you win. It was probably more of a release of a months worth of nervous tension than actual shock and sadness.
