Killing The Show

woman floor[Blind Gossip] This network TV show has been on the air for several seasons, but an upcoming cast shakeup is not sitting well with everyone on set!

Basically, they are getting rid of half of the lead couple. The female character may not have been in the title of the show… but she was still HALF the show! Someone on the set shared their views about the casting change with us.

Look. she’s not my favorite person to work with, but I (and lots of other cast and crew here) think the producers have made a really big mistake. The fans have to come to expect that the two leads are a couple.

Getting rid of [her] is not something that’s going to shake up the show. It’s going to KILL it!  I’m predicting this is our last season. Dumb move by producers.

Now excuse me while I start looking for another job…

    This was rumored she was going last year, as the pair were NOT getting along. I didn’t even realize it was back for this season, thinking it got cancelled already!

    I’m done with this and Sleepy Hollow; SPN I’m barely hanging on; Arrow will only keep me as long as they keep crossing to Flash and have Capt Jack on.

    The “Castle” news suck for the fans (haven’t watched the show in years, so no big lost for me.)
    That being said, I didn’t know Stana Katic had a rep for being a difficult actress – anyway, that’s what I got from the ‘not my favorite person to work with’ comment given by the source here, and her name being added in the “JJ Abrams And The Rude Actress” post.

    So… Katic is known as being a pain in the *? There’s stories about her behavior to back this up?

    This will definitely the end of the show. Changing the format completely by killing off one of the main characters is going to drive fans away.

    Right now the show has not been renewed for a new season. They all may get their walking papers.

    This season was crazy for a lot of shows. Blacklist, Arrow, Sleepy Hallow, and like 5 others. At first I wanted to guess Arrow because of the “title character” mention and the comic universe.

    But I believe that killing off Abbie aka Nicole Beharie from Sleepy Hollow is going to sink that show.
    Tom Mison aka Ichabod Crane is at least known in the story of Sleepy Hollow which might explain the hint.

    The show always said biblically they were “TWO WITNESSES” and now that is gone.

    The Castle female lead. I dont watch the show but if one of the lead characters of my fave shows leaves it, I’m done with it. It’s not the same anymore.
    I think it will hurt the show, for sure.

    I’ll guess Stana Katic from “Castle”; she was also listed as one of the guest stars on “Alias” in the JJ Abrams blind today and it seems she could be hard to work with.

    Well since the news already came out it’s obvious. I really hope this is just part of contract negotiations or to test the water. The show can’t go on without her and I know I and many others won’t watch another season without Stana. And they just fired her for “budgetary reasons” which is the stupidest reason I’ve ever heard. Bring back Marlowe and have him write a proper ending to the show.

    It’s the end. They lost me at the kidnapping/amnesia storyline, but I would still expect Castle and Beckett to be front and center. I would follow Fillion, Seamus Deaver and Jon Huertas anywhere they landed. This used to be such a fun show. How disappointing.

    I think it’s a great move! She’s the least believable “tough detective” I’ve ever seen on TV, and she has zero chemistry with Castle. Now he can be mourning her (ooh, maybe driven to solve/avenge her death?) with Ryan and Esposito, and the show will have focus.

      I logged in just so I could disagree with you. This is the most interesting Juliette’s character has EVER been. She was getting really dull as the milk toast girlfriend and now she’s fierce! No way is this GRIMM. Plus, it makes no sense as nobody’s name is in the title (and the blind infers that it’s a show with someone’s name in the title).

      I, too, am an addict of the show. I nearly crumble when it’s over — I get the shakes and can’t wait another week.

    This will definitely not help the show and ruin it in the end, it’s on its way out anyway since a while. But if the tension on set is too much and for too many years, some things have to change. This was writing on the wall.

    A lot of people like Kate (I was never one of them) so it can hurt the show. Unless, they bring back a favorite character to shake things up. Nathan is so much better when he plays off someone.

    Getting rid of Stana Katic on Castle makes no sense at all. They should just end it this season and be done with it. I have no interest in next year

    Did she want a raise? Firing Dempsey didn’t kill GA because it was a big ensemble show. This was a dumb move.

    I don’t watch the show but it’s “Castle” and according to previous comments, the 2 leads Nathan Filion and Stana Katic hate each other.

    A shake up can either kill it or energize the show (Gray’s Anatomy e.g.) after they got rid of long-standing cast members.

    Been on for several seasons, the picture kind of looks like a crime scene, the show is named after the character Richard Castle.

    I was also thinking it could be Sleepy Hallow but that’s not an upcoming storyline, they already killed Nicole Beharie’s Abbie. And they weren’t a couple, just partners.

      I don’t think Megan Boone’s character is really truly dead. And she wouldn’t be half of the lead couple, as Reddington is the other “half” of the lead in that show.

    I’ve always loved this type of Nick and Nora, Remington Steele, Moonlighting type of drama. Networks just need to figure out how to keep the show fresh after the lead couple get together.
