Everybody In Plaid

February 1, 2016 Blind Gossip

plaid family[Blind Gossip] In the lead up to the Iowa Presidential Caucuses, there was a very specific fashion request from the team of one Candidate.

Check this out: They wanted people to wear plaid. Family, staff, etc. They thought it would look folksy and middle class and help the out-of-staters blend in. Most of them didn’t bring anything plaid, so we had to do a special shop. You should have seen their faces when we handed them their shirts; the grimacing, the nasty comments, like they were so above it all. “Ewww. I would NEVER wear this in real life!”

Hillary. If I see one more picture of Bill in that black and red plaid shirt…

My bet is Rubio. He’s gunning for the nomatition more then the other 2 leads. He also the one republican that seems to aiming for more of the youth with trying to copy Obama campaign from the 2008 election cycle.

My second bet is Cruz but I think he would choose more of a solid color scheme.

This has been confirmed to be that * Cruz.

    This is Rubio.

His two sons both had plaid shirts under their blazers and his teenage daughter wore a plaid jacket on caucus evening.

Additionally, a quick google search of caucus day revealed that at least 2 of his male handlers wore plaid shirts under their blazers.

No other contender came close to this amount of plaid.

Now I just can’t wait for the cornucopia of negative oppo information to come out on him… crossing my fingers that it occurs after he gets the nomination.

Ted Cruz has worn plaid before, including on the cover of his book “A Time for Truth”. So I don’t think this is him.

Because of the ‘family’ comment, I’m thinking Cruz.

But I’m puzzled: since when does plaid connote Iowa, or anywhere in the midwest for that matter? To me plaid = Pacific Northwest or Atlantic Northeast. Not Iowa!

To me plaid = poor fashion sense… no matter where you live 🙂 Well unless of course its a cute short pencil skirt in black and white with a sexy little sweater.

The plaid thing must be Cruz……didn’t watch and don’t care about any of them…..think they’re all nuts…….but this sounds just like him…….

She would have probably had him in a racoon cap and moose skin loin cloth. (After his orange spray tan was continued below his neck)

Wearing plaid to get more Midwest love? As an Iowa woman, this amuses me how dumb they are. This shows how out of touch the candidates are with the people. They are all terrible.

Does Raphael wear plaid while he take donations from Wall Streeters?

Good grief that is insulting. Honestly the American political system is absolute insanity, I can’t work out how anything gets achieved over there. No wonder the country is a mess and until the whole political system has a massive overhaul it will never get better. There are hundreds of millions of Americans and the only ones that seem to be able to run for office are Billionaires or multimillionaires with really rich friends. Money shouldn’t define who should be president, its beyond…

    • missmissy says

Saw that coming… I think someone abroad is entitled to make a comment about the US. God knows we spend a lot of time trashing other countries during election cycles.

    Presidential Candidate: Hillary Clinton

This is ridiculous. Looking “folksy” by wearing plaid is an insult to the people of Iowa. People know what pandering is and this is definitely not something that endears people to a candidate.

    Winners: Cruz and Sanders

Meh, they’ve been doing this since at least the 80s. I remember Bush wearing plaid to Iowa, I think Clinton did it- they all do.

  20. jonty30 says

    February 1, 2016 at 8:02 pm

Sounds like something Clinton would do. She’s always adopting a southern accent when down south and she stops using it when she’s back in Washington.

    • Red Velvet says

      February 2, 2016 at 2:51 pm

That isn’t necessarily fake. I’m a native Southerner splitting my time between Canada, for academic work, and the South, during breaks (so yeah, Canada in the winter and the South in the summer–for an academic, I’m…not smart). Anyway, my accent fades when I’m in Canada and returns strongly when I’m home. And I know a lot of other travelers who can tell you the same thing, including my sister, who moved away 30 years ago but still finds the drawl coming back when she comes home for…

Trump would be the obvious answer, but the Trumps don’t care about being folksy, and they’re not trying to pretend anything else but rich. This is the Cruz clan, for sure. Fake family.

Being from Iowa they will stand out in many areas here vs fit in. My guess is Rand Paul, I think he has family members split out at many sites throughout the state. But could be any of them

Trump will win Republican I think and for Democratic it will really depend on the turnout it’s very close.

I on the other hand wanted to caucus for stern from scratch for both parties but since that’s not an option I am watching them from home.

    • tiggerlgh says

      February 1, 2016 at 7:22 pm

Clearly wrong I knew it would be close Cruz wins Iowa. Who knows for the democrats I wouldn’t call either a true winner p. Mir will be Hilary by a sliver.

      Haven’t seen any plaid yet!
