June 6, 2019 Blind Gossip

[Blind Gossip] With the Freddie Mercury and Elton John biopics both looking like hits, we have an actor who wants to star in a project similar to Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman.

He is a well-known action hero.

He wants to play… Elvis!

We didn’t even know he could sing.

Not Rami Malek or Taron Egerton.

Late guess: Robert Downey Jr. And let me say it here: he has PHENOMENAL acting chops. He was absolutely incredible as Charlie Chaplin! He would make an AWESOME Elvis, even if he is “too old” or doesn’t look like him.

Nick Cage as Elvis would just be gross, knowing all we do about him. Keeping yourself as mysterious is far better than over exposing yourself.

I believe Miles Teller has said before that his dream role would be to play Elvis.

    Robert Downey Jr.

Rocketman is tanking in its second weekend. I would never want to see it again, as I did with Bohemian Rhapsody

My first guess when I saw action hero was Keanu Reeves. That would be HILARIOUS.

But if we are talking about later era Elvis, I could see Robert Downey Jr. wanting to try.

I’d watch that movie. Would it be amazing? Would it be terrible? No clue. Regardless, it’d be memorable. Sign me up.

    Keanu Reeves?

    Sterling Knight
    Zac Efron
    Mitchell Musso
    Nick Jonas
    Ross Lynch
I guess it depends on what age Elvis will be when the movie starts, but a young Disney star who can actually sing would be a good choice for a young Elvis.
Nicholas Cage, Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, most of the people already named, would be horrible choices to play Elvis, in my opinion, of course. I know some die-hard fans about my age who would agree with me too.

No one! I think the Elvis bios were done to death a long time ago. Kurt Russell did the best job of portraying Elvis.

I think Robert Downey Jr. He has sung with Sting on occasion and probably would be good Elvis…

  13. CanaryCry says

    June 7, 2019 at 10:09 am

Chris Pine? Dwayne Johnson? Christian Bale?

NettieHoney has a good idea about giving Tom “Cornelius Van Kujik” Parker role to the bigger actor, while a more unknown young actor plays The King …

  14. Bunniest says

    Keanu Reeves

I’d pick someone who looks like a young Michael Madsen.

I was surprised to see them calling it a hit tbh. It may be a hit with critics, but I doubt it’ll make even half of what BR did US or globally. It only premiered to $25M and BR premiered to $50M. No way it’s even getting close to BR’s $900M box office.

Bohemian Rhapsody was not good either. It baffles me that it was so popular, I think people just get nostalgic about the music and let everything else slide.

  20. NettieHoney says

I’d never cast an established actor as Elvis. I’d put the big star in the role of Colonel Tom Parker, populate the Memphis Mafia with Names/talent, and hold a cattle call for the part of the king.

Optional: I think a talented unknown who has a good resemblance would be fantastic!

    Justin Timberlake.

  28. zappy2050 says

    June 6, 2019 at 6:07 pm

Nicholas Cage? I hope not. He is absolutely obsessed with Elvis. I think Juston Timberlake could pull it off.

    • zappy2050 says

      June 8, 2019 at 4:28 am

I still think this is Nicholas Cage wanting to do this – the man is obsessed!!! I also still think Justin Timberlake can pull this off – The person needs to be able to act, dance, sing and age and have drastic weight gain. Yep, Justin.

  29. gailpow says

    June 6, 2019 at 6:04 pm

Actor: maybe Nicolas Cage who is obsessed with Elvis? So much so, he married the King’s daughter.

  30. phoenix8209 says

    Dwayne Johnson?

  31. GretaGuesses says

    June 6, 2019 at 5:42 pm

I can see Nicholas Cage wanting to do this.

I can’t even think of an actor who could play the legend, Elvis Presley. Joaquin Phoenix was able to somewhat channel Johnny Cash, so maybe he could channel Elvis too.

Not sure on this one – just wanted to comment and say they should hire Kacey Musgraves to play Priscilla! Lol

    • mimsicle says

      June 7, 2019 at 6:46 pm

More like Lana Del Rey! Although considering Priscilla was an actual child when Elvis married her, perhaps not.

I love him, but his singing in What’s Your Number? wasn’t the best. Lol Guess he could lip sync.
I always thought he’d make an excellent Ricky
Nelson and hoped he’d someday play him.

I’d LOVE to see a biopic of Ricky Nelson!
