One of the franchise’s past actors thinks he knows where to put pin the blame: On the lead of the current film!

[Actor] was a terrible, terrible choice as the lead! He has all the charisma of a wet dishrag.

While we’re not sure if the current lead actor is the only reason – or even the main reason – why this film is flopping, it’s interesting that the franchise’s actors are turning on each other. That would not have happened long ago!

    Wild guess but Spiderman?

    Tom Holland as the new lead.
    Tobey Maguire as the old one. He seems like a jerk, and I’d hope Andrew Garfield has too much class for this.

    For what it’s worth, I love Tom. Seeing him dance to Umbrella on Lip Sync Battle sealed the deal.

    AGREE 100% with what the past actor said.
    Alden what’s-his-name is the main reason I dont watch the movie. Many videos on youtube and blogs reviewing the movie and blames it on politics, the * that is the last jedi, pansexual lando, etc all the while the problem is the lead actor as han solo!

    This is probably about Solo. The past actor is probably Harrison Ford, which would make me sad. The new guy, Alden Ehrenreich, was very good as a young Solo. I loved the movie. I think it simply came out too soon after The Last Jedi.

    No one can ever have the charisma for that character that Harrison Ford had/has. I get it’s a prequel but he is solely responsible for what made that character so popular. Let’s not underestimate how unwise it is toh ave a new Star Wars movie every 6 months!

    What is the reason for the current film’s poor performance? This franchise has sucked ever since Disney took over from George Lucas, killed off old faves such as Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, and “rebooted” with poor replacements.

      PS: I was unimpressed with the actor playing Han Solo. He lacked the brooding charisma of Harrison Ford, and was rather boring. I also preferred a sexier guy to play Lando Calrissian, in order to to follow in Billy Dee William’s footsteps.

    It has to be the latest Star Wars installment! Ding ding ding! And the flopping actor must be the new Han Solo. But who on earth could ever do a better job than Harrison Ford? It’s really not even fair to ask of someone. Should have just retired the character if Harrison no longer wanted to play Han.

    Bad choice for lead – could easily have chosen someone who even looked like Harrison when he was younger. That bugs me. But i really avoided it mostly because i could not give a toot about Star Wars, but also that Woody Harrelson was in it.

    SOLO. The film is bombing because “The Last Jedi” was boring. It had new characters that were “Boring”.

    “Solo” signaled it was in trouble when they fired the original directors. I will not see it. The last 2 “Star Wars” films were boring!!!!

    The film is flopping because the fandom wants it to! It’s a protest against Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. Star Wars fans have been spreading the message to not go and see the movie so it flops and Lucasfilm will have no choice but to remove Kennedy. The fandom is angry about the way she has treated beloved actors like Mark Hamill.

    Past Actor: I’m guessing Mark Hamill over Harrison Ford, mostly because he seems to actually be into SW and cares about it, unlike Ford who I think does not

    Optional: they are milking it, with too many films in a short time. They should have waited until the new trilogy was done before doing spin-offs (if at all)

    I think the trouble that has been reported is one key reason, it doesn’t seem like it would be very good. That “The Last Jedi” was terrible doesn’t help. Also, Han Solo is forever Harrison Ford so I think a lot of people don’t want to see anyone else play this iconic role.

    This is the solo movie. I don’t know who the old cast member is and i don’t care. The star wars franchise is in serious jeopardy thanks to kathleen kennedy.
    She has set about using the strongest movie franchise in history as a social justice platform. Multiple higher ups at disney/lucasfilm have lashed out at the fanbase calling them racists and misogynists etc for criticism. They’ve alienated their fanbase and the boycott is just getting started. If disney were smart, they’d fire her asap.

    Disney is stripmining the star wars universe. They don’t seem focused on continuity, canon, or making the new films live up to the old ones. They’re also pumping them out so fast that its easy to get fatigued.

    Why is the Solo movie flopping? No one wanted it to begin with. We knew pretty much everything we needed/wanted to know about Han Solo from the original trilogy. Imagining the Kessel Run is more satisfying than seeing the Kessel Run.
    Now, a Lando movie? We learned very little about that character previously, so that would make much more sense (in crass commercial terms).

    I would probably look at the director, who very publicly said that he wanted an SJW version of Star Wars and didn’t care what the fan base thought.

    Take a page from Marvel and keep politics out of it.
