[New York Times] The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure.

I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.

It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.

The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.

I would know. I am one of them.

To be clear, ours is not the popular “resistance” of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.

But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.

That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office.

The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.

Although he was elected as a Republican, the president shows little affinity for ideals long espoused by conservatives: free minds, free markets and free people. At best, he has invoked these ideals in scripted settings. At worst, he has attacked them outright.

In addition to his mass-marketing of the notion that the press is the “enemy of the people,” President Trump’s impulses are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic.

Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more.

But these successes have come despite — not because of — the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective.

From the White House to executive branch departments and agencies, senior officials will privately admit their daily disbelief at the commander in chief’s comments and actions. Most are working to insulate their operations from his whims.

Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.

“There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next,” a top official complained to me recently, exasperated by an Oval Office meeting at which the president flip-flopped on a major policy decision he’d made only a week earlier.

The erratic behavior would be more concerning if it weren’t for unsung heroes in and around the White House. Some of his aides have been cast as villains by the media. But in private, they have gone to great lengths to keep bad decisions contained to the West Wing, though they are clearly not always successful.

It may be cold comfort in this chaotic era, but Americans should know that there are adults in the room. We fully recognize what is happening. And we are trying to do what’s right even when Donald Trump won’t.

The result is a two-track presidency.

Take foreign policy: In public and in private, President Trump shows a preference for autocrats and dictators, such as President Vladimir Putin of Russia and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, and displays little genuine appreciation for the ties that bind us to allied, like-minded nations.

Astute observers have noted, though, that the rest of the administration is operating on another track, one where countries like Russia are called out for meddling and punished accordingly, and where allies around the world are engaged as peers rather than ridiculed as rivals.

On Russia, for instance, the president was reluctant to expel so many of Mr. Putin’s spies as punishment for the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain. He complained for weeks about senior staff members letting him get boxed into further confrontation with Russia, and he expressed frustration that the United States continued to impose sanctions on the country for its malign behavior. But his national security team knew better — such actions had to be taken, to hold Moscow accountable.

This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.

Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over.

The bigger concern is not what Mr. Trump has done to the presidency but rather what we as a nation have allowed him to do to us. We have sunk low with him and allowed our discourse to be stripped of civility.

Senator John McCain put it best in his farewell letter. All Americans should heed his words and break free of the tribalism trap, with the high aim of uniting through our shared values and love of this great nation.

We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life and our national dialogue. Mr. Trump may fear such honorable men, but we should revere them.

There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first. But the real difference will be made by everyday citizens rising above politics, reaching across the aisle and resolving to shed the labels in favor of a single one: Americans.

After months of speculation about which Senior Official claimed to be Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration, Anonymous himself has come forward!

In a shocking reveal, the man who wrote the editorial is Miles Teller!

What?

Oh, wait.

Never mind.

Not Miles Teller. Miles Taylor.

Miles Taylor is a former Department of Homeland Security official.

Here is a photo of Miles Taylor.

Teller worked for the Director Of Homeland Security. He is not a senior official, so it is unclear why The Times described him as such. A senior official would have been appointed by President Donald Trump. Teller was not appointed by Trump. He was hired as a staffer by his department.

It would have been more exciting if it was Miles Teller.

‘Anonymous’ is former DHS official Miles Taylor

Former Department of Homeland Security official Miles Taylor on Wednesday revealed himself as “Anonymous,” the author of an op-ed vowing resistance to President Trump.

Taylor boasted in September 2018 of “working diligently from within to frustrate parts of [Trump’s] agenda and his worst inclinations” and last year wrote the book “A Warning.”

Washington gossip for years swirled about the person’s identity, with many Trump officials denying they were the person.

Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley publicly denied writing the initial op-ed in the New York Times.

Taylor, a former DHS chief of staff, tweeted, “Donald Trump is a man without character. It’s why I wrote ‘A Warning’…and it’s why me & my colleagues have spoken out against him (in our own names) for months. It’s time for everyone to step out of the shadows.”

It’s been two years since the original editorial, so we’re sure the fact that Miles Taylor is outing himself now, just one week before the election, is no coincidence.

Teller has actually been in the White House. Here is a photo of him in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump.

No one guessed this one correctly. Given that Miles Taylor is not exactly a household name, that is not surprising.

Again, Anonymous is Miles Taylor, not Miles Teller.

By the way, if you haven’t seen Whiplash, rent it this weekend. It’s an excellent movie, with both Miles Teller and JK Simmons giving amazing performances. In fact, Simmons’ performance earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

This whole election is giving us whiplash.

    There has been some very good comments by all and I am glad here we respect each other. I do not who it is. We all voted and we need get over it. I am outsider in many ways of my life. When you are outsider in church, at meetings or whatever you are a member it ‘s not easy. We will find out who wrote this letter. You all have a good week coming up. Ditto to all.

    I think the author is not only who he/she claims to be, but I believe that the author is someone on the left, sowing seeds of doubt and mistrust, and wanting the right and everyone else to believe that the “resistance” is everywhere, that it’s righteous, and that together, the left and the right can save our democracy.

    What disturbs me is how many people this this is a hoax/fake news/witch hunt. It’s sad that you cannot see reputable reporting when it is right in front of you. Our president has made many doubt a free and honest press and it’s disturbing. PLEASE… Do not get your reporting from the far left OR right. But from honest journalism like NYT, WaPo, Wall St Journal and the Economist. (None of which are failing… just sayin’).

      There is NO such thing as “reputable reporting” in the media today, especially when it concerns the President. I have yet to see a media report that is not biased toward him. Honest journalism?……..not in today’s world!

It blows me away how many people continue to support Trump, and that no matter how many thousands of lies he tells, his base is willing to believe HIM over a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and the New York Times. I completely respect your right to conservative views, just not your hero worship of this man-child. We deserve better.

    I wasn’t happy with Trump as a candidate, but Hillary was even worse. I will say this about Trump: The Deep State, the Elites, the puppet masters behind the scenes, whatever you want to call them… can’t control him and they are deeply panicked. They’ll do whatever they can to get rid of him. Kennedy wanted to end the Fed Reserve and link the US dollar to silver. Shortly after making his intentions clear, he was killed. A coincidence, I’m sure.

    I am not a Trump supporter and did not vote for him (it’s sad that in this political climate every opinion needs to be prefaced by this to hold any validity.) That being said, the media IS the enemy of the people and anyone who doesn’t realize this needs to WAKE UP and take a hard look at the narrative they’ve been so eager to push on the American people. This article is just more proof of that.

    I sensed it was written in a collaborative manner, not by an individual. I think this was intentionally released by the White House to stir up chaos and distract from Kavanaugh’s deflections during his hearing. It’s their MO. If no one is fired by tonight, I’d place my bets on that. OTOH, making DT appear unhinged gives the GOP cover for advancing unpopular agendas.
    Either way, I am not a fan of Trump or his administration.

    Mike Pence because of the use of the word “lodestar” which is a term that only he has used publicly before…but that could just be a red herring…I don’t believe this will take very long to be revealed unlike “Deep Throat”…it’s harder to keep a secret nowadays…I think the writer should be fired but it is not treason…

    Thank goodness for the actions of a few clear thinkers. At least there is a modicum of hope for the US. Not that I deeply care, it is probably time for someone different to take on leadership of the free world, but it pains me to see how low the once proud nation has sunk. Are they heroes? No, but strategic thinkers and pragmatic actors. Excellent administrators, maybe.

      Because we are still One nation, regardless. That is how. And things done by a President, in Congress or at the S.Ct. affect everyone. Always need an adult in the room. Obama did too at times as he had missteps too. Trump is worse, but no President is perfect.

      It’s hard for me to accept this person’s contention that we are losing it as a moral and guiding force in the world.What Trump is doing is making our nation a respected entity in the world of world politics! As a nation, we suffered bad international deals-both trade and political! Europe has always held us in contempt calling us boorish, arrogant and self-possessed (among other things!) However, having said that, his personal background is not sterling,( per gossip blogs!) it is challenged!

    Coward. The Constitution includes a remedy for getting rid of an unfit president. The remedy is not to provide cover for the GOP by informally trying to take away Trump’s power. Trump’s unfitness is a public issue, not something that should be hidden away just so that the GOP can continue with its agenda of pillaging this country’s wealth and resources for the rich.

    with 99% of the MSM, 99% of all Hollywood celebrities, and many Republicans against him, Trump won the presidency because people like me (a gay man who was once a Liberal NY Democrat) voted for him. This person, who should be fired just sounds like a disgruntled typical old Republican , upset that the times are changing and many of us are as sick of them as we are the way too liberal Democrats. I would never have voted for Rubio or Cruz or Bush. The Old-Time Republican days are numbered.

      I know a lot of long-term Democrats who voted for Trump. Some had voted Dem their entire lives (and they’re older) but are tired of being treated like they don’t matter.

    I doubt that this was written by a senior official in the Trump administration. It sounds more like something John McCain wrote and had Meghan deliver. If not McCain, it could be from Jeffy Sessions.

    The person is a coward, and still bitter that Trump best their St. Hillary. It also sounds like subversion, like someone colluding to thwart an election.

    The more Trump is bashed and harassed by celebrities and by the media, the more support Trump gets out here in middle America.

They seem to be willing to stoop to anything to try and bring down Trump, all because of their hate for him. It’s shameful and disgusting! They are clearly abusing their positions of power in the media, and everyone knows it, and can see through what they’re trying to accomplish……shame on them!!!!

Our Senator, Elizabeth Warren, wants a HUGE tax put upon us to pay for those who come here “without papers.” She is also anti ICE. VERY bad people out there, not trying to take care of Americans in America at all. Want Marxism/redistribution of wealth at all costs.
