Beyonce Gets Nasty About Jay Z Mistress

[Blind Gossip] In a recent performance, Beyonce changed the lyrics of her song to comment on the race of a woman (or one of the women) with whom Jay Z had an affair.

The lyrics to her song Resentment include:

I’ll always remember feeling like I was no good
Like I couldn’t do it for you like YOUR MISTRESS could
And it’s all because you lied

Beyonce changed the lyrics to:

I’ll always remember feeling like I was no good
Like I couldn’t do it for you like THAT WHITE B*TCH could
And it’s all because you lied

This confirms that Jay Z did have at least one affair, and that the woman was white. Since everyone they hang out with is famous, we would not be surprised if this woman is well-known.

Perhaps Beyonce will drop another hint soon. Anything to sell tour tickets!

    I am a big fan of Bey. Yes, it is definitely tasteless and racist. Though I feel Bey can get away with that. If Taylor Swift did the same in reverse the media and many non-fans would protest. Instead this is almost celebrated as a clue to the unknown mistress. Glad you asked he question.

It’s written as a put down against someone of a different race, which is odd since she looks to have a goodly amount of that race in her, so someone in the family must have loved white people.     I am black and yes it does sound racist because all hell would break loose and it would make headlines for other reasons if it were the other way around. As an entertainer you’d think she’d realize this may offend some of her fanbase but they probably don’t care either way. i love beyonce as a performer btw but lately (since lemonade) I’ve liked her performances less and less as they are slow and boring. If ticket sales are declining, maybe I’m not the only one?

    I’m not sure who the mistress was maybe Rita Ora or Gwenyth but to me there is no way that I would stay in a relationship where I had to keep reliving such a scandal. She has more than enough resources to live on her own. And yes I do believe it is in poor taste to call someone out my their race. The fact that she was a bitch stands on its own.     This might be Rita Ora, I am not sure. About Beyoncé’s lyrics, I am a black woman and I do think that it’s racist because if a white singer said a black bi*ch, the whole internet would go crazy. It’s like me saying for example that “Indian bi*ch”. That’s not a very nice comment in the first place. Because she is Beyoncé, she can never do anything wrong.

When one person of one race is dissing a member of another race then that is racist based on the defacto definition of racist….hating someone on the basis of their race only.

    Not sure who she is, but there are double standards in life in general – gender, racial, ethnic, religious, which is why I assume the recorded version *doesn’t* use the word white – she knows that. However, IMO the nuance she’s giving it by adding the word ‘white’ touches on a discussion about black men getting with white women – a nuance that would be lost if the discussion turned to “reverse racism”. So in this context, it’s invoking a very specific issue in her community, and I’m ok…

      This. I agree that the nuance may be missed because this usage refers to more than a white person’s skin color. There is a history of promoting European features and beauty, and degrading African features and beauty. It’s impossible to explain in a comment, but the emotion from using the word is not from a societally-trained desire to oppress another person based on race; but rather a reaction to being involuntarily placed in an inferior position because of race.

      The irony is that Beyonce has done everything other than painting herself permanently to look white. Bleached blonde hair or weaves, gradual skin lightening, caucasion facial features, the perfect lily white veneers etc…

    I don’t know who the mistress is but bringing race into it was totally unnecessary. Saying “that black bitch” would have been met with outrage if a white musician said it in the same scenario so Beyonce saying “that white bitch” should be met with the same response.

    I really don’t think the woman’s skin color had anything to do with Jay Z deciding she was the woman to have an affair with so this is just a sad attempt at more publicity for her tour.

      When you attach someone’s race to ‘bitch’ that’s a two-fer insult; it amplifies the ‘bitch’. Like, being a bitch is bad, but the color of your skin makes it worse.

    As for the comment, yeah I think it’s racist. I know racism refers to systematic oppression and that’s not the case here but I feel racism should encompass situations where someone, regardless of colour, is denigrated because of their skin colour.

I don’t believe that. ::Googles:: Ok apparently one of her parents is a quarter black, making Rita only an 8th, and she considers herself Albanian as a race (which I didn’t even know was a race until just now). Hm, anyway, apparently she is kosovan albanian. Does that still count as white?
