Warming Up To The Return Of Old Girl

[Blind Gossip] There is a rumor going around about a casting change at a top daytime show.

The rumor is that an Old Girl is coming back to her old show!

Yes, it’s true that they want her back. We’ve been telling you this for over a year!

However, there are some problems with bringing her back.

The cast is full. They can’t just shoehorn her in. She would either have to replace someone or go to a less-prime time slot.

Let’s talk about having her replace one of the top two current women on the show.

There’s a problem with her replacing one woman.

She is the BFF of the Executive Producer. Doubtful that producer would let that happen without a major fight.

There’s also a problem with her replacing the other woman.

They can’t be seen replacing a Person of Color with a white woman.

We are not sure what they are going to do. The only thing we are sure of is that her current assignment at a major event is designed to help audiences – and the existing cast- warm up to the idea of having her around again.

    Optional: Apparently The Dutch aren’t too impressed with her as she claimed they are such good skaters because (LOL) they skate to work on the frozen canals. Except the Netherlands get about 5 days of ice per year and the canals haven’t frozen over in decades. That’s embarrassing for a news gal to spit out at the Olympics! Tsk tsk, NBC, just more egg on thy face!

    I read this as Meredith Viera coming back to the View. Joy has been there long enough to be good friends with the producers and Whoopi is the woman of color they can’t replace with a white woman.

    this is Katie Couric. who’s doing commentary for the Olympics. Guess they want her back on the Today show. Problem is Savannah’s bestie is the exec. producer and I don’t think they’d fire or demote Hoda. Ratings have never been better and Hoda is a joy on the show.

    So far her work at the Olympics has come under fire. Had to laugh at some of the twitter comments about skating on canals in the Netherlands! However, I wouldn’t mind her going back to the Today Show. I haven’t watched it since Lauer got rid of Anne Curry, so I might tune in. She should replace Gutherie, not Hoda.

    Kate Couric on the Today Show. I think she’s doing okay on Olympics. I can’t rate her higher than “okay” because I’d much rather be seeing actual sports than human interest stories.

    optional-She and Matt Lauer had good chemistry are created a well balanced show-news and entertainment. But that moment has long since passed. I don’t think having her back on the show-which had moved on without her-would be a good fit.

    Haven’t been watching the Olympics, but they better not get rid of Hoda. She makes Today watchable and is doing a kick-a** job. Wasn’t a fan of Savannah before, but she’s much better with Hoda. Get rid of Megan Kelley and her depressing parade of victims.

    Let Katie take over Hoda’s spot in the 10 o’clock hour and make Kathie Lee and Katie co-hosts during that segment. Hoda has the prime hosting position now anyways.

    I want to say Katie Couric and the Today Show, even though the picture favors Ann Curry.

    I don’t care as I stopped watching the Today Show ages ago. I couldn’t stand all of the fluff and goofiness and bs segments. And I loathed Matt Laurer. I watch CBS in the morning and I like John Dickerson in Charlie Rose’s place.

    I have a strong hunch this is going to be very unpopular but here goes :).
    I think she’s doing great on her current assignment. She’s warm and funny, smart as a whip and witty. She’s an absolute natural. Yes, I would love for her to come back full time. I have missed her and I would watch again. NBC should do whatever it takes, even if it means replacing Savannah AND her BFF Executive Producer.

    She made a comment on the reason the Dutch are so good at skating that irked the Dutch, but she is the best bet for bringing back the popularity of the Today show & bringing me back as a viewer. Hoda is great, but Savannah–meh, & I do not care about her BFF. Producers abound. People love Katie, & that is more important + she has the chops. I gave up on Today when Katie left, but I’d be willing to come back for her. Morning Joe is getting a little a bit lazy.

      It may have irked the Dutch but it also made headlines around the world, thank you twitter, and made her a laughing stock. Surely there’s better talent from a new generation?

    Optional: I was surprised when she was announced as a commentator for the Olympics. I tune in only if I want to watch a certain event. So far no Katie. She bored me on her talk show, I just couldn’t relate to her.

      Barbara Walters is reportedly not in good health, and it would be impossible for her to do this. Early-stage Alzheimers?

    I haven’t seen her coverage yet but I would welcome her back in the 9 o’clock hour with a co-host or two. Jenna Bush Hager may do well with her. They can kick Megyn Kelly to the curb.

    Katie is currently hosting the Winter Olympics – saw her do a segment right before the games started with Hota and Savannah and they all seemed very chummy.
