Legend Has AIDS

[Media Take Out] Some shocking news that hurt our heart – and it’s about a legendary African-American celebrity.

According to our snitch, the female celeb, who is seen as a legend in this country, contracted HIV from a male partner back in the 1980s and has been on medication.

Well the snitch says that the medication is no longer working, and she now has full blown AIDS.

When she dies, and that could happen shortly, the cause of death will be a “rare cancer.”

    This has to be Aretha.

    Now her weight gain back in the 90’s makes sense and so does her recent weightloss. I read that the HIV medication they used back in the 90’s would make you gain weight.

    Aretha Franklin? She’s had some hush-hush hospitalizations before plus the photo reminds me of her song, “Respect,” which is spelled out by Aretha while singing it.

    The other person whom I think it could possibly be is the first black Miss America, Vanessa Williams, as she was really the first black American female “celebrity,” that is a person who is famous for being famous. Hope it’s not her as she is much too young to go yet!

    I think it’s Dionne Warwick. Hurts our hearts = Heartbreaker, one of her big hits. She’s very quiet and out of the public eye when she should be enjoying her well deserved legend status. Very sad news.

    I retract my earlier guess of Whoopi Goldberg. I think it’s Aretha – the clue being the letters spelling out, like R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

    Aretha. The letter tiles in the photo remind me of R-E-S-P-E-C-T, plus the use of the word legend. She was given a Grammy Legend Award in 1991 and has a “Legends of Soul” album. Plus, she has cancelled several performances lately due to illness and lost a LOT of weight in recent months…

    Aretha. I hope not though, but – daggone. She has lost so much weight recently, and she was rumored to have cancer about 3 years ago. …but rallied back to health.

    My first thought was Oprah because she is a legend. She started out with a very tough life and overcome it.
    My prayers are with them whoever it is. I’ve always said cancer is a jerk, it seems to keep finding a way. I feel the same about AIDS.

    Maybe Tina Turner. I haven’t seen her around in a long time. I wish publicists wouldn’t hide behind other death causes, though. People seem to have forgotten that AIDS can kill and drug cocktails might not work forever or for everyone. I think the world needs reminding how important safe sex still is.

    It would have to be somebody 60+, for it to have happened about 30 years ago.

    The only female black legend that comes to my mind is Arethra Franklin. Everybody knows she has been ill for some time.

    Aretha Franklin has been said to be a cancer survivor. It’s also said her weight has been falling off at a scary pace.

    If this is her, it would be such a shame … a terrible end to a wonderful music star who already had too much pain in her life.

    I think it’s Aretha Franklin. It’s been reported that cancer is behind her dramatic weight loss, and she’s canceled concerts.

    Can’t wait to see the guesses because I have no idea. They say Celebrity rather than singer/actress so I assume it’s either someone like Oprah (although I don’t think it’s Oprah), a multi-hyphenate, or someone who’s just famous for being famous. There are so many legends to choose from! Hope this isn’t true for this person’s sake.

    Aretha Franklin is the legend I first thought of and sure enough she’s lost weight they’re saying is from cancer. God bless her, I’m sorry she’s sick. No one deserves to die of AIDS or cancer. She’s such a great lady and I’ll pray for her to get through this with dear family and friends by her side.

    Nichelle Nichols, Uhura from the original “Star Trek.” Just a guess, but I think I read something about her being ill a few years ago. It’s hard to come up with other”legends,” outside of Oprah and I don’t think it’s her. I don’t consider loudmouth Whoopi Goldberg a legend, although she probably sees herself that way.

    Aretha Franklin…hasn’t been looking well for awhile. Hospitalized multiple times and her voice is gone. If this true I hope she would have the courage to speak out before she passes.

    I am thinking that it’s Aretha Franklin. She’s long been considered a legend in America; she’s lost an incredible amount of weight lately, and there have been rumors of illness. Plus, she has talked about a “mysterious” lover that she toured with long ago (I forget the exact term she used) who could possibly be the culprit (although could equally likely be someone who has succumbed to the illness himself).

      I apologise for my use of the term “culprit.” That implies that the person who gave it to her knew he was HIV-positive and gave it to her on purpose, and that is not an assumption that should be made.

    No idea. “Legend” makes me thing older women. The first black female legends that came to mind were Aretha and Nichelle Nichols.

      Something struck me odd when I saw how much weight she lost. She doesn’t strike me as a gym bunny. Wondered if there might be more to it, but HIV/AIDS *Never* crossed my mind!

    Her erratic behavior, Aids meds(AZT) or Dementia, they will claim brain cancer, GLIA.

    There have been rumors of cancer for a number of years as explanation for her weight loss, her face looks more like the wasting you see with AIDS than conventional weight loss, and she’s cancelled a lot of appearances of late…. Sad.

    This is probably a stretch, but I’m thinking Whoopi Goldberg because of the picture. It might be an allusion to her gig on Hollywood Squares a while back. Although I’m not sure she’s seen as a “legend.”

    Whoa, my first thought was Oprah but she is certainly a world wide legend. In thinking more about it, I am now thinking Aretha Franklin who recently announced plans to retire and seeing pictures of her lately looking much much thinner. Several years ago it was announced that she had pancreatic cancer which she later debunked. If this is she or anyone it is indeed sad.

    Hope it isn’t her but it sounds like Aretha Franklin since I don’t think she’s as well-known internationally as her peers but is revered in the USA.
