[Blind Gossip] This over-40 movie star is one of the highest-paid actors in the world. He is hiding a secret that may surprise you.

Five to ten years ago, he was on a movie set. It was a big $100+ million film. He was one of the stars, of course.

There was an older actor in a scene with him who was playing a minor part. The older actor confided to the movie star that he was struggling a little bit in the scene because he wasn’t wearing his hearing aid.

[The Movie Star] told him that he could relate because he also had bad hearing and was practically deaf in one ear!

When asked if he used a hearing aid, [The Movie Star] replied that it was too risky to get one.

He said that if anyone found out that he had trouble with his hearing, it could affect his ability to get good roles.

Given his fantastic career, it is a little surprising that he was so concerned about not being cast if anyone discovered his dark secret.

It also might explain why, much more recently, he was accused of wearing an earpiece on set to have his lines fed to him.

Perhaps he is finally wearing an earpiece to help with his hearing… but telling people that he wears it to help with his lines?

If that’s the case, it’s interesting that he would rather be thought of as lazy than deaf!

    This is Johnny Depp and the older actor with the minor part is probably Keith Richards who played his dad in one of the Pirates films.

    Maybe it’s Depp like so many people have guessed but Al Pacino also used a headset to have his lines fed to him when he did a Broadway play last year.

    I haven’t commented in a long while, but my son is Deaf and I know lots of kids that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. What a wonderful opportunity this would be for a “huge star”with a “fantastic career” to be a role model and an educated spokesperson on hearing loss. I would love to see Jack Sparrow, John McClane, or any other character showcase this.

    I think he was just being nice. I’m deaf in one ear and you don’t need a hearing aid. The other ear compensates. No one would know if I didn’t tell them.

    Thing is, at his age and with his second career in a “band,” a hearing loss would be quite normal now; less so when he was so much younger.

    Optional: If he said 10 years ago that he was having trouble hearing THEN, then I am sure the earpiece was due to hearing loss and not laziness. I am so glad that the *, Amber Herd, apparently didn’t know. Leave Johnny a bit of dignity!

    I read somewhere about Depp having his lines fed to him through a device. Makes no sense because the first thought I had was that he was not sober or to hung over to memorize his lines.

    I think i got this. Movie: 150 millions $ Dark Shadows. Actors: J.Depp and Jonathan Frid who died deaf. J.Depp was accused in early may of being fed lines through earpiece by his managers. Its so sad. Claimed backed up by K.Dunst in 2008. I hope he gets help.
    I hope hes lazy or another Brando, Willis or Tom Cruise. Lets hope.

    If he is telling people the earpiece is for his lines when it is for hearing, then he is letting vanity get in the way, and it is a poor choice to make.

    My first thought was Tom Cruise, but the clues don’t strike me as him. ‘Fantastic’ or ‘dark’ made me think of someone from a superhero franchise, but again that doesn’t seem to match. I know Johnny Depp wore an earpiece on the latest Pirates movie; maybe the older actor was Geoffrey Rush from an earlier one?

    “Dark Shadows” may also be the film in question, it was a big-budget Tim Burton flop, but 88-year-old Jonathin Frid from the original series had a small cameo (he died soon after).

    I’m thinking Tom Cruise but I’m pretty sure I’m wrong. Johnny Depp, whose “ear piece” has also made the news, comes to mind, too.

    I’m deaf in one ear. Have been my entire life. Hearing aids can’t help me and I’m fine with that. He’s only hurting himself if he believes in the stigma.

      The only problem with Depp being the answer is that he worked with Marlon Brando in the 90s, and he is the most likely candidate for giving Depp the idea.

      While Cruise is also a good candidate, I am sure that the only thing more offensive to him than being considered feeble is being thought of as lazy.

      Yep, that’ll do it. Lol……If he has hearing problems I hate to see what the next generation has, because of the way they listen to music, even louder!

      That’s right, that’ll do it! Johnny Depp all the way abd earned honestly enough. My own hearing is a bit iffy due to Rolling Stones speakers (nope, never played with them, only in the audience. God help any kids who listen to music any louder than that!)
