She was thrilled that the photo was getting so much play and that it was making every publication. Some of her friends were calling her and texting her about how awesome it was. She was laughing and shouting, “Yes! Yes!” every time it was the top item on a website. She thought it was really edgy and funny and a hugely successful stunt.

After the first hour came the backlash.

[His] fans were being unbelievably vicious and calling her “b*tch” and “c*nt” and threatening her with [various violent acts]. She started crying. She was really worried about her personal safety. She does not think she was wrong. She was just scared about all the threats and wanted to make them stop. That’s why she backed down.

Comedian Kathy Griffin was criticized after she did a photo shoot earlier this year featuring her holding the bloody, severed head of President Donald Trump.

She quickly apologized to try to stem the backlash, but we knew that her apology was a lie. We knew that she apologized because she was scared, not because she was sorry.

We did not know if the day would ever come when she would admit that.

Today is that day.

Kathy Griffin: ‘I’m No Longer Sorry’ For Decapitated Donald Tump Photo

Kathy Griffin is taking back her apology for her controversial photoshoot in May that featured a decapitated Donald Trump.

While discussing the images with Australia’s Sunrise, the comedian didn’t hold back as she slammed the backlash surrounding the provocative image. “I’m no longer sorry,” she said in the Tuesday, August 29, interview. “The whole outrage was BS. The whole thing got so blown out of proportion.”

Griffin went on to name specific people who called her out for the shoot while also mentioning how her business suffered in the aftermath. As previously reported, Griffin’s tour was subsequently canceled due to death threats and she was fired from her cohosting gig on CNN’s New Years Eve special. “I lost everybody,” she said. “I had Chelsea Clinton tweeting against me. I had friends, Debra Messing from Will & Grace, tweeting against me. I lost everybody.”

“I have been through the mill and I didn’t just lose one night on CNN,” she continued. “These Trump fans, they’re hardcore.”

Anchor Samantha Armytage quickly interjected to point out that Clinton, 37, and Messing, 49, are not Trump supporters before moving on to question Griffin’s perception of the incident. “Even Democrats said it was out of line,” she said. “I get that comedy is about pushing the boundaries and being politically incorrect and that’s fine. But do you not agree that that picture, holding up a severed head, I know it’s a mask covered in tomato sauce, but do you not accept that that was a little bit over the line?”

Griffin retorted: “No, you’re full of crap.”

The comedian continued to explain that she feels the photo has gotten too much attention instead of more pressing issues: “Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the president of the united states is committing.”

Griffin had previously apologized for the photo just hours after it posted. Amid the immediate backlash, Griffin shared a video on Instagram expressing regret. “I sincerely apologize,” she said in the clip at the time. “I am just now seeing the reaction [to] these images. I’m a comic. I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it.”

So, just as we originally told you, Kathy Griffin’s original “sincere” apology was a complete lie!

She was not sorry at all. She only apologized because she was scared and she wanted to save herself..

    Not a fan of Donald Trump but that “joke” was too far. How do you insinuate such a thing? Terrible! He might be an * but no one deserves to die like that. And to insinuate such, as a person in the public eye, is uncalled for and morally deficient.

    Kathy Griffin. It wasn’t funny but I don’t think she deserves to be threatened and insulted over it. He’s a public servant, he has to expect that people are going to make jokes, tasteless or otherwise. Kathy Griffin should maybe stop whining as well now. Don’t know how she expected it to go either.

    If this had been an October 31 stunt and she was dressed up as Carrie she would have still offended but it would have been tolerated but she put herself in an indefensible position with this stunt and strengthened Trump’s position politically . I am reminded in my youth of Halloween where we would have egg wars and this goes back when JackoLanterns were lit on Halloween only. If you or your possessions were egged on the 31 it was laughed off . The day after or before— you had an enemy.

    She’s never been funny, and this stunt proved exactly why. It’s fine to make innocent jokes about the President, but when you insinuate physical violence, it’s no longer a joke and should be taken as a serious threat. Can you imagine if someone did this to Obama? They would be crucified. Everyone should respect the office of the Presidency, regardless of political opinions.

    She definitely deserved all the backlash she received!

    Did i think it was funny? Not really. I mean if this had been a year ago and you substituted the scene with Obama’s head? Would the media and the rest of his supporters find it funny or in good taste?
    I seriously doubt it. More likely that person doing the “funny” would be forever ruined and labled racist, hate-mongerer etc. There is so much seething anger particularly from the left these days and you don’t have to be emperor palpatine to feel it.

No 11 year old child should be exposed to that for someone’s sick version of humour. I think she was jumping on the whole hate Trump train and it derailed. Her friends sound like a bunch of losers and will agree with anything this Z lister says.     No, I don’t think her “joke” was funny. I think it was in truly poor taste. And I am not a T-bird fan at all. I think he’s a creep. But that doesn’t mean that I would go along with something like this. She made a huge mistake which is already affecting her career.     How would you like your children to see your head on a spike with blood dripping down – if that does not incite violence what does? Are you condoning such inhumane treatment of people?     “Bush, Obama or any mature president would focus on real bad guys around the world and let the Secret Service talk to Kathy Griffin.”

    But there has been an incredible overreaction. All one has to do is google “Obama effigy” and you’ll get dozens of pictures of different time when President Obama was burned or hanged in effigy.

    Which doesn’t make the photo any more acceptable, but I don’t think this is unusual an act as it’s been made out to be. Still horrible–and I’m no Trump supporter.

    It was my favorite show to watch on New Years Eve! I love her and AC together. CNN usually “fires” her after the show, but this is different.

    Optional: I HATE Donald Trump with every fiber of my being, I think he’s an embarrassment to this country, and in no way shape or form support him, but this was truly awful.     This is Kathy Griffin for sure! I think Trump is awful and I support her freedom of expression, but I also think if you do something controversial you better be prepared for controversy. She wanted attention, she is getting it – it’s not up to her to determine what kind of attention is okay or appropriate.
