Janeane Garofalo’s Famous Sex Partners

[Blind Gossip] Janeane Garofalo recently did an interview with David Feldman of The David Feldman Show.

A couple of the subjects she talked about were her appearance and her history with men.

BG Note: Edited for clarity.

Janeane Garofalo: I have, since childhood, disliked what I’ve seen in the mirror.

David Feldman: And yet, the boys have shown up.

JG: That has nothing to do with physical appearance. Growing up, and in the great bulk of my life, there was no male interest in me. My parents would say, “You’re a beautiful girl,” but that didn’t count.

As I got older, the only time there was interest from males was after I started getting some degree of success.

There was a difference in the males that were attracted to me versus the males who were attracted to the leading lady types. Without getting into details, over the years, a number of very well-known men who I slept with would not have dated me out in public. I was not to be photographed with them as their girlfriend.

They had different tastes in women in their private lives than they did in their public lives. Their public girlfriends were exactly what you would expect. In private, though, these gentlemen loved comedy women or punk rock women or artsy fartsy women.

DF: Did they say that?

JG: No, they didn’t have to. It just was very clear. And I was complicit in this. This is nothing I’m ashamed of, nothing that makes me sad. I’m just telling you that even when I had male attention, it was comedy guys, you know what I mean? But even with those comedy guys, there still is a premium put on a certain look of female, and I didn’t fit into that.

I’m older now, and what’s weird is, now that I’m older, when there’s male attention, it’s  from very, very young guys who seem to be intrigued by older women, and they’re flirtatious in a strange way. But [the attention certainly does not come from] males my own age. When they are older, they no longer want older women.

    I’m sure Ben Stiller is one, but he’s the only person I ever knew of her being associated with romantically (possibly, anyway). I always assumed she was a closeted lesbian, if I’m honest.

    My husband and I started dating before realizing he was a year and a half younger than me. To me, it’s about having common ground and being on the same mental maturity level, not so much about the age. I’m not saying get crazy and date someone 20+ years younger, but in the same block is fine either up…

    Men in their 40’s and 50’s, want women in their 20’s and 30’s. I’m in my 40’s, look like I’m in my 30’s…so I attract guys in their 40’s. I’ve had 3 guys who I really clicked with. Never lied about my age, just never told them. They were all crazy about me, until they found out how old I was. I was 1 year younger than all 3 of them. They couldn’t get past it. One didn’t talk to me for the rest of our date.

    totally get it. hollywood type dudes have to be seen with arm candy, even if the weird woman is the one that gets them hot. ben stiller would be my guess. maybe even vince vaughn.

    I know she and Ben Stiller were ‘together’ for a while. I don’t know if they are still friends or not but they wrote a book together a while back. I would add to the David Spade chorus as well.

    Janeane Garofalo is a Gen X spirit animal. I loved her, esp in Romy and Michele’s HS Reunion. She’s beautiful and it’s sad and surprising that she wasted even a millisecond on a guy who didn’t want to be seen with her in public.

      My kid and I generally stick to our own sides of our age difference midpoint (about 10 yrs). It’s kind of funny when I meet a super cute 34 year old man and the first thing that pops into my head is “oh, he’d be SO nice for my daughter!”

    She was technically married, but unaware of it. Not joking. She married a pal in Las Vegas thinking it was a joke and not legally binding, which is not that surprising considering how ridiculous some of those “wedding chapel” places are. He was fixing to marry someone else for real in 2012 and that’s when they find out they were actually married and had to divorce before he could remarry.

      Yeah, no. To get married in Vegas, you have to go to City Hall and get an actual marriage license before you can go off to one of the chapels. Show of ID, paperwork, signatures and $ for the fees. You can’t wander into a chapel and legally get married. The chapels can’t issue licenses. Does not happen.

    I can’t guess because I haven idea who she was rumored to have slept with. but reading the list of guesses is worth of notice that all the guys mentioned ended up married or dating just average plain janes, so I don’t see any men in those list who is or was constantly linked to “leading lady types!” just average looking women more of less like Jannine…

    She’s just making excuses for her poor taste in men and her poor past behavior. I don’t know how she’s stayed in the public eye this long. Ugh.

      Maybe. But she’s funny, talented, and she can actually act – unlike so many of the ‘beautiful people’ Hollywood keeps putting in front of the camera.

    I would never date anyone younger…nor anyone older than 10 years older.
    However- I think people do not date Janeane Garofalo because she seems very unbalanced….that is scary for a lot of people- male and female!

    Bob Odenkirk, too? I put the blame on the ppl casting her as “the weird one” all the time. In Mystery Men, she looks atrocious. In Romy & Michelle, she looks goth & intimidating. When she’s given a straight role, she’s lovely & a Sally Field type. I also think Garofalo puts herself down needlessly. Kirsten Wiig is odd looking-and if she only got “odd” roles, she’d never have become a leading lady.
    Tina Fey…the list goes on of comic women whose looks aren’t/weren’t “standard beauty…

    I have no idea who the guys were. I’m at a loss for why she thinks no men want (or wanted) her. I’m just “cute” and have never been short on male attention. Maybe it’s because she grew up very well off (dad was an Exxon executive) she was surrounded by men/boys who had very high standards? She’s around the same type of people as an adult too.

    I have no guesses, but her story doesn’t surprise me. I am curious when this all happened though, since she was married 1992-2012. Her peak was during that time. I guess in her early career then.

      She didn’t know she was married. When the other guy wanted to get married he found out that he was a married to her.

      That might better explain why the men didn’t want to be seen publicly with her. Over the years sounds like a fairly long period.

      Her marriage was supposed to be a joke, not real. Her and the guy didn’t even know they were legally married until he tried to marry someone else 20 years later. Or so she says. If there was a record of it, you would think they knew what they were doing.

      Thanks, all.
      I hadn’t heard the story, and assumed she was single the whole time. So I was surprised to see the marriage listed on her IMDb page.
      I’d wonder how dumb (or delusional) you have to be to not know you were married for 20 years. But then I remembered, it’s neither. Janeane has admitted to having a serious drinking problem. I sure hope she’s gotten help for it. Being an alcoholic presumably didn’t help her self esteem or commitment issues.

    If she didn’t like what she saw, how has she not figured out that she projects that?

    I feel like it’s part of her self-created brand to be the “cute girl that, aww, geez, men just don’t find cute.” And that was before she got the trout pout.

    I used to really like her and her work, but this shtick has gotten old. Just do you already. Who the hell would date people who don’t want to be seen with you?

      Janeane has never played the cutsie aww poor me schtick. She is who she is, she’s self-depreciating in her humor because she is secure with who she is. If the right man doesn’t come around for her, then so be it. She’s a strong woman and will be just fine!
      As for who would date men that wouldn’t be seen in public with her, it’s not a slam on her. It’s that these Hollywood types have to have that tall, blonde trophy wife on their arm no matter how little substance she may have.

      Janeane Garafalo is opposite of a strong woman. She has always been an emotional mess with self esteem issues.

      See I think this is a little unfair.

      She’s also in an industry that places so much importance on appearance that when you’re a woman who is average and not like, “model” beautiful, you can understand that she feels somewhat insecure when she’s constantly being compared to barbie dolls. That said, I do agree that she needs to accept herself as she is. I think she’s beautiful and smart, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

    I’m pretty sure she was banging Ben Stiller and Andy Dick. I remember my college years my roommate was a legend. At least 2 different girls everyday. But he would only be seen in public with the “10s” but he took on all comers. Pun intended.

      She and Robert Cohen got married in Vegas and thought it wasn’t legally binding. They never lived together. When he tried to get married in 2012, they both found out they had been married for years. Hence, her dating in the 90’s and 2000’s, because I know she dated Craig Bierko for 3 or 4 years starting around 1996.
