[Blind Gossip] A celebrity mom you see on TV all the time had an odd reaction to the recent incident of a small boy falling into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo (see video clip below).
We were all talking about how we would have reacted if that was our child and [Celebrity] said the most shocking thing.
She said that she bet that the parents had a life insurance policy on the boy and that they allowed the child to go in there because they were looking for some kind of payday.
We all looked at each other like “Did she actually just say that?” and then she went on about how she has life insurance on her own child/ren for $100k, but that she would never allow anything to happen to them for such a small amount of money. WTF?

My guess is that ultimately this story is going to be blamed on Kim Kardashian (although everyone’s blaming Kris J. now). I would bet my bottom dollar that it’s a smear: that she said something like that, but with an entirely different meaning (e.g., how people are “sue happy” these days). I don’t think federal or state law is ever going to allow the parent to make the decision in situations like this. The zoo was legally obligated to shoot the gorilla and they did; I just wish they…

It can’t be Kris J. Her kids are grown adults, even Kylie is 18 now I believe. Also 100k is nothing to them. They make millions. 🙁

I was going to say Kim K or Kris, but honestly, for them a $100,000 policy isn’t very big. My parents weren’t rich and even they had $250,000 policies on all three of us kids when we were little. I think both Kik and Kris would have much higher life insurance on their kids. Kris’ income is based on making her 10% off each child. And Kim’s kids will be her cash cows in the future. She could make more than $100,000 off of North and Saint with an exclusive Interview and magazine spread. For…

Optional: the zookeepers should do their best to humanely intervene of course, but that child self-selected, so nature should have taken its course.

I wanted to guess Kourtney Kardashian. She has young children and she’s a member of the K fam.
If it were my child, sorry, but I wouldn’t even think twice. My son over an animal any day.
Looking at the video, not as a parent, the gorilla didn’t seem to me that he was attacking the child at all. It looks like he was having fun and playing with the boy. Mixed emotions since it wasn’t my son.

No clue, Kardashian?
No, I would not. I wouldn’t be so irresponsible as to allow it to happen in the first place… It’s called parenting. Some people should just not procreate.
I’ve worked with exotics a good portion of my life. Gorillas are especially nurturing, intuitive and gentle. By all accounts it was in a protective stance.
Tranquilizing the Gorilla should have been enough, that and the handlers comfort. I would have trusted both.
Once again an animal pays for bad judgement.

My oldest son was a whirling dervish of a toddler. Somehow, we managed to take him out in public and keep the public safe from him (lol) as well as keeping him from harm. That was in the 90s. Parents today seem to be so preoccupied with their phones, they’re more interested in posting every detail of an outing than actually enjoying the outing.

Optional: I would have asked them to tranquilize the gorilla. I love animals with a passion, and would never have been able to live with myself if MY negligence caused the death of an endangered animal. Still very angry over this. I hope they prosecute the mom. RIP beautiful Harambe.?
Summers says
I appreciate the sentiment but if they had tranq’d the gorilla, it would have taken him several minutes to pass out. During which time he would have possibly been confused and angry and inflicted untold damage upon the child. They were in water so there was a good chance of the gorilla drowning if sedated, or falling on the child and drowning him. Shooting him really was the only option and the zoo made a heartbreaking choice. The mother of that little boy is completely to blame here but…
wfreshie says
it takes time for the tranquilizer to take affect, who knows how it would have effected the Gorilla..you don’t take a chance like that….if anything had happened to the boy, people would be screaming to high heaven….

People are more important than animals. Period. I hope none who have made these vile, hateful comments declaring that a gorilla is as important as an animal never have children and are never around children because those comments are antisocial.
Any parent who would wring their hands at choosing between a gorilla or their child is not fit to be a parent.

Kids are very quick, slight of reason and wit, but 100 in terms of goals. Kid probably just wanted to get closer to the gorilla, not actually jump in, and mom probably turned her head for just a sec. How much stuff did you get away with as a child? How many times did you get caught? Your parents aren’t bad, you just happened to outwit them a time or two, like this rug rat. This is also why I’m not having kids.

Optional: This is actually kind of a tough question for me. Having been a zoo keeper previously, I’ve seen first hand animals protect humans – a rutting (in breeding season) but normally sweet bull camel my fiance was working with snapped on him and tried to attack but another camel (who adored my guy) fought him off and kept him at bay. If he hadn’t, things could have been very very bad…So you never know what an animal is thinking.

This wouldn’t have been my child or most responsible ppl’s child.. They should have waited. A stupid brat is a dime a dozen but these beautiful, rare endangered, gorillas are not. If the kid dies, he dies. 90% of the time we all get what we deserve.
PinkCrayon says
So you’re OK with a child dying? Are you serious? Your comment made me ill. I’m an animal lover, but the child didn’t deserve to suffer and die because his mother was an idiot. The gorilla didn’t either, but the zoo did what they had to. It was unfortunate all around.
Squeezes99 says
That’s one of the most evil comments I’ve ever read.

missmissy says
Spoken like someone who has no children. One day you will understand (1) how a child who is supervised can do something completely unexpected and uncontrollable, and (2) how devastated you would be if something happened to your child. This was a parents greatest fear – I also think it was a tragedy, but don’t diminish the importance of a child’s life.
katheryn says
So someone who has no children is okay with a child dying, is this what you are saying? Are you for real??? Your comment is just as bad and just as ignorant as the original. You are just as horrible a person as the original poster.
wfreshie says
the only but is…the child TOLD his mom he was going to climb in..she told him no no ….after the boy said that..isn’t he the one you [purposely hold onto…Because he said that he was going to do it
Gemza says
I completely agree. When my son was a toddler and I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter, I brought him with me to sit with a friend at the hospital while her mom had surgery. He was normally well-behaved and I never had a problem taking him places- until that day. All of a sudden he made a dash for the operating suite. He made it through 2 sets of doors before I was able to catch up to him. Toddlers are unpredictable and really fast!
PinkCrayon says
I don’t have kids, but I would never say such a thing. >_<
iheartkoko says
Wow, just wow! When my sister was two, she slipped away from my mom and darted out into the street. Luckily my 6 year old brother was able to grab her jacket and pull her back moments before a truck came speeding down the street. This all happened in a matter of seconds. I empathize with the parents. My heart breaks for the gorilla, but my heart would have broken more if the boy had died.
spookie says
I’m with you, Bostonbratt. Maybe it’s an ASD thing, but I looked at this without emotions and simply thought “The gorilla is endangered, humans are not”.
They should have moved crowds away from the area (as they were agitating the gorilla with their screaming) and tried to distract him away from the boy.
quickchick says
Very good point.
artistsnow says
There were no zoo officials at the area where the child fell in.
The mom called 911. She sounded absolutely shocked.
There is no reason to place blame here. It was a tragic accident, for everyone, the poor gorilla most of all. The family has handled this the best anyone could. All donations go to the zoo. THere are NO reports about the child who must be in shock and injured terribly.
Maybe the little boy can go on to become a spokesperson for safe gorilla enclosures.
pattycakes says

I get what bostonbratt is saying (its all about the reaction).
I have children. My kids are 16 and 12 now but when they were little, we used to go to zoos all the time! I never let them leave my side at the zoo-same at the mall, grocery store, park, or any restroom!
I am an awesome parent!!!! Neither of my children have broken into a gorilla exhibit and caused the death of an endangered species!!!!

I agree with you. There are too many people on this planet, what’s one less? And before anyone says anything, no I don’t have kids and no I would rather have my skin peeled off than have little crotch fruit
Nataliexyz says
Yikes. These statements about letting a human die over a gorilla are chilling. The zoo did the right thing and what they had to do…or face multi-million dollar lawsuits if the gorilla killed the child, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
PinkCrayon says
I find it disturbing you care so little for human life. Would you say the same thing about a family member? You also were a “little crotch fruit” at one point in your life, so I don’t understand your hatred for children. Fine. Don’t have them. That’s your business. Just don’t forget you were a child once.
fufufrankie says
Hey Melissa – feel free to remove youself from this overpopulated planet. Your comments are repulsive.
LooLoo says
I’m guessing that your friends and family agree with you wholeheartedly.
kc1978 says
Wow. I’m hoping that you are just being sarcastic. Considering the circumstances, the zookeepers acted quickly and responsibly. Unfortunately, things happen. Everyone wants to give an opinion and hurl hatred and negativity, but the zoo’s responsibility is the safety of the guests, no matter how irresponsible the mother may have appeared. Everyone is judging the mother, yet was anyone there by the mother when it happened? This is an unfortunate situation and there are no winners, but…
PinkCrayon says
As for Bostonbratt, I really hope you don’t have kids. I’m pretty sure if your family member was in danger you would be singing a different tune. I hope so anyway. It’s comments like “a dime a dozen” and “what’s one less?” that makes me weep for humanity.
