[Blind Gossip] This actor has been around for decades.
He started out on TV but transitioned to a very successful career in movies.
Many people find him funny. But not all.
He sometimes engages in behavior that made the women on the set uncomfortable.
One minute you’re just standing there talking and the next he would raise his hands and position them in front of your chest.
The he would make this grabbing motion with his fingers and say, “Honk! Honk!” like he was squeezing two of those old-fashioned car horns.
He seemed to think it was funny.
The women were not nearly as amused as he was. However, they generally didn’t do anything about it.
He’s gross but he’s also the star. If you complain about the star, who do you think they’re going to get rid of, you or him?

[Optional] Funny or gross? If he did that to you on set, what would you do?
cocalola says
The picture is of a goose/duck making the honk honk sound from its Bill, so yeah, Bill Murray, personally I adore his films and find him hilarious but the behaviour on set is inappropriate and it looks like from his statement he has learnt that, hopefully it’s genuine because it would be a shame for this to tarnish his work at this stage.

Bill Murray.
Fred Savage was the first to come to mind, but he was never in very many movies so that doesn’t make sense.
spoofbyrd says
Bill Murray. Well as a joke this has been done long ago so it is pretty tired yet long ago it wasn’t offensive but in this cancel culture thin skinned era ? The result of all this ? This combined with Will Smith’s pimp hand and I really do think Celebrity Culture is dying . Hollywood and Theaters gone .Maybe films on IPhones streamed remain. Gene Simmons on RocknRoll “ Oh it’s been murdered alright but not by outside forces . We killed RocknRoll “ Same goes for all entertainment culture .

Fred Savage and Frank Langella got fired recently for inappropriate conduct. It’s ok for Will Smith to physically assault another performer on stage, but not ok to be a creeper.

Bill Murray?
Not funny whatsoever but I wouldn’t call it gross either. Stupid and juvenile and definitely crossing boundaries. I’d be disappointed at how pathetic that sort of thing is, under some sort of guise of it being a “joke”.
mademoisellemads says
No, no. It’s gross.
Alexis_Rose says
How about I “honk honk” at his private parts. No, wait, a man would probably enjoy that, which is why some don’t seem to understand it’s not acceptable behavior. I like Bill Murray – he’s funny and a good actor – but dude, please grow up.

Bill Murray and his “innocent humor”
Ultraviolence says
I think this is Bill Murray. There was an article earlier this week where he was apologizing for behavior on set that he thought was funny, but the women on the set were offended.
Personally, I hate the honking horn thing. I had an ex-boyfriend that would do this and it was so irritating. He thought it was hilarious, though.

Stuff that many considered funny decades ago isn’t really so funny anymore. A lot of my own dad’s ‘humor’ was borderline (?) sexual harassment And as long as it got some laughs, no one really considered how it made people feel who were the target of those jokes…
Conchord says
It sounds like Jim Carrey.
I also thought it could be Robin Williams, but the use of “has been around” and “find him funny” (as opposed to “found”) implies it’s someone who is still alive.
gingercat says
First thought is Bill Murray since he’s been in the news lately for bad behavior on set. I think that the “honking” is stupid and as long as he wasn’t touching, I’d probably just look at him like he was a sad old man.

My first thought was William Shatner, but most of work has been on tv.

I thought it was Bill Shatner at first too but he definitely did not get and stay into movie work alone. And I’m so thankful that this time, at least, it wasn’t him. (Love you, Bill!)

My husband actually met him in a deli in Manhattan about 15 years ago. They spoke for about 5 minutes.

Agree that it is Bill Murray.
The “joke” might seem innocent to onlookers but it could be gross to the poor woman to whom he was doing it. I wouldn’t find it funny at all.

Know your audience, Bill. In this case, in these times, NO, it is not funny. That kind of humor flew in the 70’s, but not now and rightly so. It’s humiliating and juvenile.

Bill Murray? He’s recently admitted that he’s done something he thought was funny/OK and then decided in retrospect is not. Hazy on the details though. Said he didn’t want to be “the old dog that couldn’t learn new tricks”.
