Bedtime Stories And Divorce

[Blind Gossip] Picture a father lovingly reading bedtime stories to his children.

Perhaps Goodnight Moon? Or Where The Wild Things Are? Or one of the Harry Potter books?

Warning: This is not that story!

This celebrity couple is getting a divorce.

Because there are one or more minor children involved, child custody is naturally an important issue.

However, this custody battle has one element to it that is quite shocking.

It seems that Mrs. Celebrity is very upset about some home schooling that Mr. Celebrity was providing to Child.

You see, while many parents and their children enjoy the ritual of reading bedtime stories aloud, Mr. Celebrity’s choice of literature was… unorthodox.

She caught him reading “Mein Kampf” aloud to [Child] before bed.

What?!

[Child] was studying history in their homeschooling. “Mein Kampf” was not part of the reading assignment, but [Mr.] said that he that he thought it would be a good idea to read such material to [Child] to give [Child] a better understanding of history.

Needless to say, Mrs. did not approve!

She thought that the history excuse was a flimsy one and told Mr. to stop immediately.

That’s not all.

Mr. admitted that he had also read Stalin’s biography to Child!

He said it as if it would put the other book into a better context and that he was just trying to educate [Child] about world history.

Mrs. wasn’t buying any of this. Despite her worldly view of things, she was absolutely livid that Mr. thought that these books were appropriate for children.

She made Mr. promise that he would throw away both books and never read anything like that to Child ever again.

Mr. promised.

Did he keep that promise?

No.

Mrs. eventually found the books.

Where were they?

She found them hidden in [Child’s] room!

Child admitted to Mom that Dad had given the books to Child with the instruction to hide the books in their room so that Child could read the books whenever they wanted!

Uh oh!

While there are multiple reasons our acting couple is getting divorce, this was supposedly one of those critical moments when Mrs. decided that Mr. was a poor role model for their Child/ren and that she needed to protect her Child/ren from Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. had a huge fight over this… and eventually filed for divorce.

If nothing else, this bizarre event certainly does add a new layer of complexity into the whole debate over who is the better parent in this family and who should have custody of the Child/ren!

    Daft Angelina. Kids study these books at universities all over the world and they’re a legitimate source of historical inquiry.

    I feel the need to clarify my previous commment. Like a poster above I feel that history is oversimplyfied, absent of context and source material. What threw me off was the bedtime story aspect, and at age 7 one would not be able to grasp either. Otherwise I see nothing wrong with exposing a 14 year old to these books.

    Pitt/Jolie.
    Mein Kampf is not illegal in the U.S., and in fact most public and university libraries have it as it’s both an important piece of history and a good piece to study to understand rhetoric and propaganda.
    That’s for people who are old enough to understand what they’re reading, that is. To read it to a child so young that they need it read out loud to them?Crazy, damaging, and disturbing.There is a lot of age-appropriate material on the holocaust to choose from to help kids…

    Other clues pointing to the Jolie Pitts:

    Two of the drawings show girl and boy of same size (twins?) aaaand then there is the photo of the teacher with a drawing of an apple, and Brad dated Gwyneth Paltrow, who named her daughter … Apple! Same drawing shows an African child, and the Jolie Pitts adopted an African girl.

    Also, both are true: “multiple reasons … couple is getting divorced,” & ” this was 1 of those moments when Mrs. decided Mr. was poor role model for child.”

    All of the Jolie-Pitt Children are old enough to read themselves. I don’t see this as them. If it was, I would say the roles would be reversed. It also calls them “celebrities” not actors. Some reality couple?

    It would decide on the ages of the child/children. It is important to read the blueprints of terrible death and destruction so that it is not repeated. Better he read them The Gulag Archipelago instead to see the destruction Stalin et al. orchestrated=approx 40 million deaths through the labor camps and starvation. Bad things happen when the State thinks it knows best. Stop Socialism NOW!
    I can’t give an opinion on the better parent based on this saga.

    Honestly, what is happening these days?! History is one of the most important subjects imho, because history keeps repeating itself, and there‘s nothing else in the world we can learn THAT MUCH from. Being an European with German roots, I‘ve never read Mein Kampf, but I‘ve read DOZENS of books about Stalin, Lenin, Russian History in general, Marx, Bukanin… A lot of the still present theories (Socialism etc) grew from that, and knowledge is power, even if I‘m not ok with…

    My main problem with this is not so much the book itself. It’s that one parent was uncomfortable. Rather than talk it out, the dad decided to make it a secret between him and the child. No matter the issue, no matter the topic, that’s a marriage ender for me.

    Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie—Angie is clearly the better parent despite the media trying to make her look like she’s crazy. You have no idea what she says to her kids but I think she’s one of those moms under the “I don’t lie to my kids” heading so tells them some stuff maybe other parents would defer on for a few years. But Brad needs work. Mr. & Mrs.[Smith] gave it away too, along with the other clues.

    I don’t see anything wrong with the dad wanting to educate his children on history-this could very well expose them to how horrible a person Hitler was and therefore prove a very important lesson-that evil does exist.

    I don’t know, but there is no way it’s Brad and Angelina. If she had found any evidence of Brad reading these books to the kids, it would have been all over the media. She tried to trash him so hard there is no way she would have missed the opportunity to call him a Nazi.

    I think it is Brad and Angelina, clue Mr. and Mrs. I don’t think it is a good idea, especially before the kids go to sleep? Get ready for some nightmares, yuk. Wait until they are older and then give them the book so they can read it if they want to. Otherwise just discuss these topics with the kids, when they are older. I am starting to see why she is fighting for full custody and to make it worse, he lied to her. How can she possibly be able to trust him.

    I’m also getting Jolie/Pitt from this story.
    It really depends on the age of the child. If they are so young they need to be read bedtime stories they are probably too young for the books mentioned.

    This sounds like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (Mr & Mrs, as in Mr & Mrs Smith), “protecting the children” (I believe this wording has been used by Angelina’s camp before).

    If this *is* Brad Pitt, I’ve lost all respect for him. I really hope this one is revealed. This isn’t someone whose pockets I’d want to line.

    Only thinking this because of Mr and Mrs (Smith).
    I don’t think either is a good parent. Feel sorry for the kids.

    I can’t think of anyone else quite as twisted as he is. Though I find most everyone in the industry unlikable and creepy. I forget his wife’s bad traits but whatever they are she would have to be better than him.

I think Angie’s too unstable, bitter, and she’s clearly been trying to get the kids to side with her. No parent going through a divorce should ever talk badly about the other parent in front of their kids. Custody should be a 50/50 split so the kids can see the world without Angelina’s filter.

    Oh my. Brad and Angelina. Not sure which of the children he would’ve been reading this to.
    I think when people have as much money as they do it makes them all a little goofy. Not sure who the better parent would be. At this point all of the kids will be old enough to decide themselves.

    Okay Angelina, now THIS IS a good reason to have dumped Brad’s tushie! Why didn’t you let the world know sooner? Brad seemingly has terrible judgment. I have to give it to Angelina, it seems like she was right on that front. Unfortunately, she is no better. They both have terrible judgment and the kids will suffer from their parents’ immaturity. Give the minor kids to Brad’s parents for good and let Brad and Ange go their separate, dissolute ways.

    I’m gonna say Armie Hammer is the wacko Dad. Elizabeth Chambers is definitely the more stable parent! She should have primary custody.

    Probably Brad and Angelina. Max and Pax are college age so maybe too old for bedtime stories. Same with Zahara and even Shiloh. So the younger twins ? Knox and Vivienne ? Not the most appropriate for younger kids, Other books would be better. But Angie had a history of drug use and is a very unconventional parent and maybe not stable enough for 50/50 custody. Brad should still get 50/50 at least.

    Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the books. Who is a better parent? I would say they are the same-no winners here. Custody should be 50/50.

    Judging by the hints, it sounds like Brad and Angie. But Brad reading Mein Kampf to the kid doesn’t seem quite right.

    No idea on the couple, but it’s good to expose the children to ALL ideas, as opposed to what the State says you should or shouldn’t.

    I think 50/50 or an arrangement along those lines. Fixed address one place but equal parental duties etc.

    Totally agree with the dad. Reading those books does not mean one is a nazi, communist or is supporting mass m*rders. My daughter’s reading assignment at school right now is “the wave”… It’s part of the history.
    Mother should stop the smack before judging anyone. Her extensive use of it damages the children much more than most books could.

    Totally with the father. Looks like he was responsibly teaching his child world history and the influences on it, as he should. I investigated both when young as was curious to understand the opposing philosophies that caused such chaos in the world. The mother sounds sounds somewhat woke and trying to snowflake the child who should be exposed to the hard truth in an objective way.
