March 2, 2017 Blind Gossip

[Blind Gossip] This athlete got a lot of attention for not standing up. With his fat salary and the encouragement of his girlfriend, he felt empowered to express his opinion.

Now that he’s out of a job, though, he’s suddenly softened his position on a topic to which he was extremely committed. Did this mean his morality has shifted?

Someone in the executive offices of a professional sports team provided us with some insight:

Don’t believe anything you read about why he’s doing this. He is lying lying lying!!! If anything, he has become MORE angry and MORE militant in his beliefs over the past year. That girlfriend of his has a lot to do with it. She really gets him riled up.

The truth is he’s been told that the only way he’s going to get hired is to publicly shut it. If he wants a job and money and a platform for his cause, he needs to STFU for a while. So he’s laying low and doing whatever he has to do to get himself an offer.

There are a bunch of teams that won’t even look at him, so I don’t know if his little scam is going to work. Somebody might pick him up. Just know that he hasn’t changed his thinking. He is just LYING about it to get a job!

Getting paid millions of dollars to play a sport, an activity which in no way contributes to the health and welfare of the world, is “mistreatment” of black men? Nobody is putting a gun to anyone’s head and forcing them to play pro ball for seven to eight figures. Sign me up for said mistreatment. In the meantime, how would you fix it? By limiting the players to white men?

  2. 4sixx2 says

    March 5, 2017 at 9:37 am

farfel, you’re trolling other’s comments with your political views. The NFL profits off the best Athletes and compensates them accordingly. If you didn’t view enough blacks playing, you’d say the NFL is racist. Because the majority of NFL players are black, you say the NFL profits off black men. I couldn’t disagree with your derogatory comments more.

“Stupid anthem”??? I’m disgusted by that.

    Buh bye!

  5. farfel says

    March 4, 2017 at 12:07 pm

It’s sad that more people were probably disgusted by his not standing for the stupid anthem and not disgusted by the way black men are treated in this country

  6. farfel says

    March 4, 2017 at 12:06 pm

Gross. He doesn’t need the support of those uneducated 49ers fans.

  7. farfel says

    March 4, 2017 at 12:05 pm

Yeah, the organization that has been profiting off black men for decades. Good for kapernick using his status to protest the continued mistreatment of black people in this country.

  8. Lebowski says

    March 4, 2017 at 7:55 am

Political view and protests aside – he cant read a defense, throw a touch pass or convert in the red zone. Besides scrambling he honestly is not very good.

  9. yo1774 says

    March 4, 2017 at 4:51 am

Colin Kaepernick, of course he has all the right to protest, but he should know that american profesional sports have no problem with rapists or abusers but having a political opinion is a totally different story

@queenmarie88, you’re right! I see now I wasn’t fully informed. My bad! I see now it was a good business decision made by the team because of his play and how he handled his injury. Thanks for your reply to my comment.

  12. purplecheetah says

    March 3, 2017 at 12:25 pm

Not to mention he pissed off enough football fans that they boycotted the 49ers. Because of his stupid personal stance, he lost the organization and his team $$.

  13. AnguaDelphine says

    March 3, 2017 at 12:06 pm

Agreed. I think pretty much everyone here would do the same – haven’t we all had to modify our behaviour in some way to keep a job? You speak up when you can, that’s all we can ask of him.

  14. queenmarie88 says

    March 3, 2017 at 10:28 am

He lost his job because he is not all he was cracked up to be as a ball player.

  15. dmknyc says

Though I’m super liberal, have to say: why would any business (aka NFL team) subject themselves to what he is doing? Just creates drama when the drama should be on the field.
Plus, he is no Joe Montana! Not enough talent to warrant the disruption

of course its Kaepernick(?)it just announced he is going to stand now and giving up his rant! (he needs the money). Isn’t it odd his rant is directed at the status quo (meaning white ‘privileged society)yet, he is making millions of dollars as an athlete, but no mention that he is investing in the well being of the Afro/American community! Also, the NFL and NBA have majority Afro/American players earning millions more so why aren’t they contributing? I

The NFL has questionable ethics when it comes to known rapists and wife beaters in the league so I can’t take the outrage over him standing or not standing for an anthem that has been repeatedly ‘exposed’ for its racial undertones seriously. As for him playing, I wouldn’t because he’s not a good player and wouldn’t be a benefit to any team with how he is currently playing.

I was a huge Kaep fan until the whole ‘take a knee’ thing. I thought it was the wrong way to deliver an important message about violence in our cities. Anyway… we went to the last game of the season in SF and my son got to meet Kaep on a fluke. Kaep was the nicest young man in person, super kind and down-to-Earth. He talked to my teenage son about football, college, grades, motivation, nutrition. He really took the time to motivate my kid so I can’t fault him for trying to motivate…

I would steer clear of him. There are plenty of others who would love the chance to be an NFL quarterback. He is a troublemaker and has brought shame to his family and team.
These are privately owned football clubs. They were afraid to shut him up because they thought by pacifying him they would eventually bring him back in to the fold. Big mistake..

He’s been on my favorite NFL team his entire career. While i don’t appreciate the distraction to the team its caused, he is entitled to his opinion. I would welcome him back at a hefty pay cut considering the 49ers have no other qb under contract and the draft and free agency doesn’t have much in the way of QBs to choose from.

Colin Kaepernick….I wouldn’t hire him. $$$ talks and what was the point if you were going to back down.

Of course it’s Colin K. I wouldn’t want him to join my team not because of his political posturing (although I don’t like it) but because he sucks as a QB!

    Obviously Colin Kaepernick.

I don’t think we (the Ravens) need him.

colin kaepernick. There’s nothing wrong with expressing a view. But actions have consequences and there’s nothing wrong with people being disgusted by your display.

Colin Kapernick. He hasn’t done anything wrong, so, why wouldn’t I want him on my team if he can throw a touchdown pass?

    Athlete:

    Colin Kapernick

Given his behavior over the last year, would you want him to join your team?

Hell, NO! My team doesn’t need such a whinny brat! They have the GOAT as QB with a Great QB in the wings!

    Colin Kaepernick.

He’s playing it long term which is the way to go. I think he’s handling it maturely. I also think it’s silly he lost his job unless it was in his contract that he’s supposed to stand during the national anthem.

Kapernick…wouldn’t hire him. Its a job and a team. There’s a whole group of people to consider. Its not your place to make your views associated with the organization.
