welcome to las vegas sign 1[Blind Gossip] There are a lot of reasons for performers to try their luck with a stint in Vegas. Doing a set show in a set location is a heck of a lot less grueling than touring around the country or the world. It can also be very lucrative. If you can fill those seats, you can keep on extending your fat contract indefinitely.

Since there aren’t enough die-hard fans of any given performer at any given time in Vegas, audience attendance depends a lot on how the performers are marketed.

One performer is discussing options to maximize her seat fill. There are the usual marketing tricks and pricing tricks and partnerships with hotels, but she is really focused on something else.

She wants to steal clients from a specific competitor.

She thinks that there are too many big-name female performers in town. She thinks that the faster she can kill off attendance at a specific competitor’s show, the faster the competitor’s show will close… and the faster those fans will fill her own shows.

    Anyone saying its JLo coming for Britney needs to take a second and think that through. Britney & JLo share the stage so they’re never performing at/near the same time. Plus, if I’m not mistaken, I read somewhere that part of Britney’s contract allows her team to have a say so in who’s on that stage when Britney isn’t since she’s their main headliner.

    This just HAS to be Jennifer Lopez, with her hyperinflated sense of self-worth, who wants to steal Brit-Brit’s newer customers. (there can’t be that many. I should think her regulars, gawkers attending the freak show over and over are the core of her audience.). JLo is getting older and opportunities for her to DO anything are drying up, I can see desperation measures with 95% nudity put into place!

    At Planet Hollywood where Brittany and Jennifer perform there are 7,500 Seats to fill.
    Celine at Caesar’s palace has 4,400 seats.
    So, I am going to guess, Brittany wants to kill off Jennifer! 🙂

    It isn’t. Plus, if you’re trying to take another performer’s public it means that you don’t trust what you’ve been doing and you’re scared your own show might be closed, so…

    At the beginning I thought the competitor was Britney, but I think JLo is aware Brit’s fans are pretty die-hard and that it’s very unlikely she will manage to kill her off…I don’t know, it could be Britney too…

    They all want to make money and don’t care what they have to do to make it. None of these people are hurting for it though but money is money and apparently you can never have enough.

    I realize that in show business, people will say that all’s fair. I say no, but these people learned a long time ago that ethics has nothing to do with success in that world. They don’t worry about having to look at themselves in the mirror in the morning.

      Adele wouldn’t need to worry about anyone else’s show. She would be able to pull in the crowds without resorting to stealing clients or trying to kill off a competitor’s show.

      Adele is on record as saying she’d never do a long stint anywhere as she loves home so much even touring is huge for her she’s rarely done it and hates it plus shes not the type to do this to another performer. If adele did a residency it would be sold out for years shes the biggest selling artiste in the world right now.

      I don’t think they are in the same category. JLo isn’t even as GOOD at pop as Britney. I think she wants Brit gone for that pop crowd. Mariah fans want serious singing chops, not showmanship, shake your booty like J/B offer in direct competition.

    I’ve seen Britney & her show was GREAT! sure she lip synchs but so do most pop stars and the bottom line is she has a ton of hits and the show is so much fun!!!!

      I’m not gonna profess to care for either JLo or Mariah. But I will say this. I can name a couple of JLo’s songs, and not one of Mariah’s. So…”legend” is pretty much in the eye of the beholder.

      Name some of Mariah’s songs? Hell, I’m pretty sure I can still sing every word of “emotion” “dreamlover” “fantasy” and “we belong together”…. and with that statement, I’m officially “old”

      I would not say “legend” or “icon” are that subjective. Stat wise Mariah is one of the highest selling female artists of all times. She has the most #1 singles of any female, and is only second to The Beatles. J Lo is a fun entertainer with some catchy songs, but hasn’t sold a fraction of what Mariah has. There are people sadly out there who can’t name any Beatles songs, or Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, etc, that does not mean they are not legends.

      Yes, Mariah has been around way longer than JLo. She was HUGE in the 90’s. JLo is just reaching the status that Mariah has held for a decade longer. I don’t particularly like either of them, but no one can deny they are both talented. But Mariah is definitely the bigger “legend” of the two.

      UHH…. you must be under 18 cus mariah is a goddamn legend. she has probably 20x more hits than jlo and probably 2000x more vocal skills (at her peak, anyway – not now). I’m 24 btw

      It’s not really being young to see that. I’m in my 40s. Mariah did have a lot of success…in the 90s. She completely waned in the 00s. JLo has built up since then, still at the top now. Mariah’s Idol experience was a mess, while JLo has done well, as well as currently having a new drama on tv now. JLo did find success & a career in movies, while Mariah tried with no luck. JLo is hitting her top now as a triple threat, while Mariah is more known for gossip & her past 90s hits & career.

      I think it’s the other way around – Mariah wants to get rid of J Lo. It’s more Mariah’s style to go after someone else. She is the queen of catty.

      Yes could be but I just don’t think JLO has enough hits, Britney has so many hits and is well liked.
