[Blind Gossip] This well-known designer did not seem to be too pleased about who was getting all the attention at the CFDA Fashion Awards!
After a couple of drinks, they seemed to be more than a bit nostalgic for the good old days.
[They] were saying, “Remember when this was all about designers and models? I mean REAL designers and REAL models. You know who will be on the covers tomorrow? Reality stars and fat women. And the people who made this industry will have to smile and pretend to be fine with that!”
Then they let off an exaggerated little shudder.

Reality Star – Christian Siriano
Fat Woman – his date, Whoopi G
Designer – Karl? Check your jealousy, Siriano has more talent and understanding of the female body than you ever did.

Fashion is a business, just like the fast food industry. I don’t care what fashion does but everyone wears clothes and the industry isn’t stupid, they need customers.
Bunniest says
Designer: Sounds like something Calvin Klein would have said but really it could be any of them.
Reality Star They Dislike: Kim Kardashian. She’s the antithesis of a fashion model.
In the past ten years, the fashion industry has become more diverse. It’s a good thing to recognize women come in all shapes and sizes.
colfaxcarol says
The designers are creepy and ugly, their clothes are hideous, and the “real” models are anorexics who look like prepubescent boys (something the male designers like). They are as trashy and hypocritical as the reality stars they mock.

Fat women??? back in the days this designer is so nostalgic about all modela wete anorexic. I do not really care about the fashion industry and the stuck up noses of those who claim build it. For me its very materialustic and all those investments and monies should be used for something that eould actually help humanity..excuse my rant but that that fat women comment really rubbbed me the wrong way..
Darolyn says
I completely agree. The fashion industry itself has always rubbed me the wrong way, not only because they promote anorexia with stick-thin models but also because of the way fashion is “in” one day and “out” the next. What happens to all this “fashion” once it’s out? Our landfills are overflowing with clothing that was “in” at one time. Second hand stores can only sell so much. It infuriates me that this industry is part of the destruction of our planet.

I’m sure I will not be the 1st to say that the fashion industry is and always has been ridiculous. It’s a necessary evil, like politics or the energy industry, but I have to refrain from taking too much to heart.

Whoever it is, they sound like they’d be lots of fun to get drunk with.

Don’t know about the designer
Obviously Kim (as a reality star) who has no taste but people are ready to jump outta their pants to kiss her butt, and tell her how marvelous she is.
The fashion industry is getting even more fake.

fashion industry is getting taken over by nose job-and-fillers reality tv daughters who only get jobs because they have a lot of followers on social media. it’s a bad thing. girls are idolizing kendall’s lip fillers and bella hadid’s nose job.

Based on Kim’s “unfortunate” fashion choices, I’m assuming she is getting an honor for “what not to wear”.

[Optional] In the past ten years, the fashion industry has become more UNBELIEVABLE. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I think it’s great for inclusion but that’s truly not what’s happening. The industry has become too ‘Hollywood’ and lost any respectability it ever had.
sim1fun says
designer: Karl Lagerfeld, he’s such a meanie
reality show designer: Christian Siriano
Who cares how CS was discovered, he’s uber talented and makes ALL women look gorgeous, not just slim or skeletal models
optional: I’m glad fashion is including ALL women, maybe there will be less eating disorders! More healthy views of ourselves!
terriusss says
I totally agree with sim1fun.
I’m not too thrilled about the reality tv models like the Jenners or Hadids but complaining about “fat women” being on covers is just plain stupid. It’s weird how the fashion industry relies so heavily on their female customer base yet hate them (and the ones that don’t confirm to their ridiculous beauty standards).
Karl Lagerfeld has made a comment once about only “fat housewives complaining about the skinny models”. But he also loved Cara D so idk

I miss seeing more of the “real” models, the real beautiful and natural woman, not this celebrities / “models”.

Not sure, but I miss real models being on the mag covers. Now the models are not the gal next door discovered from the small town (US or otherwise) who made it big, but they are all kids of celebs. Put models back on the covers–and not a Hadid or Kardashian.

Designer: No idea
Reality Star: Must be a Kardashian.
High Steppa says
No idea who the designer is, but the fat reality star is definitely Kim K.
ghostrider44 says
I can imagine Michael Kors making that statement… he is talking about Kim Kardashian who won some ridiculous award at that event and probably talking about Kanye as a “designer.” In the past ten years the fashion industry has become more about celebrity and less about fashion and true models. Personally I’m a little sick of the nepotism and the children of reality characters becoming the face of a fashion label. If I see a Kardashian, a Hadid, a Beckham hawking a brand, I won’t buy it.
ghostrider44 says
Ooh just realized Karl Lagerfeld makes ALOT of similar comments….could be him too.
