Sweetheart Pushing Rehab

[Janet Charlton’s Hollywood] One of America’s Sweethearts is battling a serious drug addiction – not hers, but her best friend’s.

Through the years these two have been stuck to one another like white on rice and her fame rubbed off on her pal. They’ve been roomies, have worked together on set, and even launched a business venture together. But all that success has come with a price.

After years of being sober, the less famous friend has fallen HARD off the wagon and our gal doesn’t know what to do. She’s hosted an intervention, hired an addiction specialist, and even threatened to end the friendship, but nothing seems to work.

    Drew Barrymore is the sweetheart. Jimmy Fallon’s wife is the BFF. They’re producing partners, besties, and Drew, I think, has been open that she’s slipped up and/or aims for moderation. Also ironic because Fallon allegedly struggles with alcohol

    Sweetheart makes me think of Zooey Deschanel who is friends with many actresses who I can see rooming with at one point and she started Hello Giggles with friends….

    Sober 20 years+ now. My advice to the “Friend” is to realize that “People only will get Sober when they want to”. If this person addiction is about to kill her then “Keep trying”. Keep in mind “You Have Your Life” and you need to take care of yourself. If the addict is interfering with your life “Cut her out of your life until she does get help”.

    Try to find the top, top person in addiction treatment (not one who just babies celebs,) and bring them around when Gayle is also around. Good luck!!!

      PS: I wondered why Gayle has looked so different and sad. I didn’t even recognize her a month or so ago! I dearly hope she realizes that she needs help and can get sober soon!

    Not sure about the friend

    Short of giving them money and enabling their addiction, really all you can do is be there for them. Interventions and constant preaching are ineffective if the addict doesn’t want to get better. Close the purse strings, keep your heart strings open.

      the LESS famous friend is the one who has fallen off the wagon and needs help. Jennifer is WAY more famous than Courtney. Plus doesn’t being ON the wagon connote maybe a prior issue?
